Kanamesamasqueen If what you say is true, how do you explain that Kyoya only figured it out (the light bulb lighting) during their first interaction despite he knows that Haruhi was in the same class as the Hitachin twins?
Kanamesamasqueen he also knew because the twins said that they didn't know her and with how popular the twins are they know practically everyone so only a new student would be someone they wouldn't know. which means he was probably one of the few new students and with the way he was dressed it was obvious he was a commoner that narrows it down to who he could have been.
The honey-sempai one is actually really obvious in Japanese. It’s not just that saying something is cute it’s the way she says it. Lamiacchi, uhh that’s a bit of a stretch. She simply doesn’t care about how other people see her and is defying gender roles. It’s kind of a part of Japanese culture to be dense about love or genders at that age.
Yeah it's really that simple, people say she's non-binary and stuff like that. It's just not like that yeah being non-binary would fit with extraordinary tone the rest of the show has but that's just not the case, in reality she just couldn't care less about arbitrary barrier that divides people like gender or status.
It's 2020 but I've just discovered this anime and I'm so happy that it's not the cliché one where the girl hides her gender and the story will just flow with her doing all stuff not to be discover. That's what I thought at the beginning tbh, I'm very hesitant to watch this anime first... I applaud how they loved Haruhi from the very beginning and I loved Haruhi's character for being strong. Btw, I'm stan Mori-senpai here!
You may notice that Kyoya offered Haruhi the new uniform to change in. He's so smart that he had to seize the moment to reveal it to Tamaki, the one he KNEW would figure it out last. Tamaki must be a visual learner, so he insisted that the uniform she change into be female. The look on Tamaki's face made it worth it. Then to wrap it all up, Kyoya turns to the camera to say that the two may get together in the end.
Clippy chan well on anime you can't go off voice actors because guys voice actors can be girls so...(Ex. Alphonse from Fullmetal Alchemist, Allen Walker from D. Gray-man...all I can think off but there are more.)
I love how his light bulb flickers as it switches from boy to girl until he couldn't be in denial anymore despite the fact that he literally walked in on her. Lmao.
For me when it comes to Mori, I think it's because when a girl yells for help, there's something that goes off in a guy like a 6th sense or something. When he lifted her up that was probably another hint too
1:20 Hitachiin twins’ expression when they took off Haruhi’s eyeglasses wasn’t because they figured out she’s a girl but mostly because of her huge eyes. It’s stereotypical in anime that megane people (people with eyeglasses) have slanted or tiny eyes. Seeing Haruhi’s, they didn’t expect that it’ll be so rounded that she actually looks a lot better without her eyeglasses. Their real clue was when Haruhi pushed them off to change. I mean it’s obvious enough as to why someone wouldn’t allow the opposite gender (particularly girls) to watch them change their clothes
I didn’t even know that was the reason for the lightbulbs, everytime it showed the lightbulbs I was just like “okay I guess”. I had no clue, I feel dumb😂😭🤦♀️
@@amalosmanali1144 Cliche way of showing realization in comic is lightbulb got lit. I though it's a universal thing. The row of bulbs will be like a game show, where all judges or contestants reaches a final conclusion or agreement or a pass-or-failed thing. Sadly, now it's more like LED panels instead. Time really changed.
I actually think that Kyoya knew all along (he probably had her researched or something since he seems to have files on all the students) and the smile was just like "omg they dont know how stupid of them"
Another way Mori would've noticed is if maybe he has learned to help girls in need, and his subconscious said "HELP THAT GIRL" ,hense the serious face. Then he realized "oh wait he IS a girl"
I think it was her voice and the fact he touched her chest, her voice goes pitched all girl-like when she says "Mori-Senpai, help me please!" If you listen close, and that's when the whole chest reveal helps him when he lifts her in the air
I think Mori found out when he "saved her" because if it was a guy he would probably just went over and told Tamaki to stop, but his instinct came in saying "Damsel in distress" and went into action.
@@tiniminecraftgirl853 I believe his "Damsel in Distress" switch was flipped as an instinctive reflex when Haruhi cried out for help but he didn't realize why he reacted that way until AFTER he saved her (possibly because of your point)
I think that Mori has the "Maiden-in-danger"-sense. When Haruhi call for help, it activated and "the brave knight rescued the fair maiden from the hand of evil"! And so Mori knew, that he' a she. He's the man for this job, tall, strong, quiet,... It's obvious, he's my favourite!^^
Vic Mignogna played Edward Elric in the widely popular Fullmetal Alchemist, so it's a little weird to hear Ed's voice in this character who could not more unlike Ed except for the over-the-top reactions.
The bulbs are for each host club member i guess? XD I think that's a symbol of acceptance for Haruhi so it lights up whenever Haruhi does something they like.
(On) Light bulb = smart idea Each light bulb represent each person's brain and when it start to light up it means that they thought something; like a smart idea (Smart) idea = she is a girl. No explanations needed. And I think that every guy has instincts to determine who is a boy or a girl you know what I mean? (This idea came from a drama that a girl pretended to be a boy and a guy somewhat thought that he is actually a girl. Drama: to the beautiful you - a korean drama) You're Welcome if that explains something you didn't understand about the concept of the light bulb
I think it's the way she said it, she probably said it in a more feminine way. The word I mean, since it's Japanese and she said "It's cute" and... I don't think I'm making sense
Haruhi is the best shoujo protagonist I’ve ever seen. I’m so done with useless naive girls that are projections of the writer’s personal fantasies that look like it came out of a fan-fiction and Im ESPECIALLY done with the current trend right now, overplayed fake feminists who are “strong and independent”. Haruhi defied all odds, she stood by genuine equality and didn’t need some cheap overplayed misogyny in the plot to make her seem like a “feminist”. Her natural actions alone portrayed that she was strong, independent, and open-minded without the writer force feeding us cheap corny little conflicts to make her look reliable just to impress guys. She wasn’t a spoon fed princess and she wasn’t the center of the universe. She is WAY ahead of her time and is an original living, breathing masterpiece.
I thought Kyouya found out because of what the twins said. In the English version of the anime, when Kyouya asks if Haruhi is in their class, Hikaru and Kaoru say "yeah, but he's shy. He doesn't talk much so we don't know much about him". I guess us girls can be shy or nervous around people we don't know, so we keep to ourselves instead of socializing. So maybe it's because of that.
I remember reading the comments during the middle of episode 1. They were all saying "I knew she was a girl!" and I'm an idiot 'cuz I had no clue and figured out along with Tamaki XD
Carolyn Clodd No he knows it from the start. The text said that Kyoya knew it from the start and the others minus Tamaki figured it out when they interacted with her.
Sakura - chan Yes you are right. Kyouya already knows from the very beginning. In episode 1, when Hikaru first entered the music room. Kyouya: Hikaru and Kaoru, this visitor is in the same class as you, right? Kyouya to Hikaru: Welcome to Ouran Host Club, Honor Student. Hikaru to Tamaki: How did you know my name? Kyouya: It's just that our school tradition makes it difficult for commoners to get in. So you can really tell that Kyouya knows if there is a commoner enrolled in the school plus Hikaru is an honor student.
I thought when watching Ouran Highschool Host club the second time that Kyoya knew because as the family he came from it was like in his interest to know a lot about the newcomer to his school And Honey because in anime usually when girls look at cute stuff, they get sparkle in their eyes, I thought that he probably saw that because she leaned down And the twins because the fact she sounded feminine when she told them to get out and because she wanted them to get out in the first place, they probably assumed a guy wouldn't mind being seen and the fact that she refused to wear the guys uniform anyway might have made them realize And with Mori, I thought it was because she asked him for help, he probably thought a guy wouldn't yell to him for help with that stuff I'm probably looking as dumb ass Tamaki rn XD
I like Haruhi's line about her gender identity because I hate it when some people start to act differently around someone due to their what sex someone was born. I'm a woman and have no issue with being a woman BUT a lot of my hobbies and are male-oriented and my closest friends are male because we have similar interests and enjoy spending time together. I like being treated like "one of the lads" because (in my mind) that a true sign of equality IMHO. Also, most women make me sick to my stomach which makes dating a real bitch as I'm a lesbian but I'm married now so I only need to interact with women that I'm actually friends with.

@@bts-oe1qs your fine. Lots of people make the mistake of thinking that.
“You’re a girl?” “Biologically, yes.”
Actual Legend Haruhi:
really doesn’t care about gender. (probably because of pops but yknow)
Yeah it's really that simple, people say she's non-binary and stuff like that. It's just not like that yeah being non-binary would fit with extraordinary tone the rest of the show has but that's just not the case, in reality she just couldn't care less about arbitrary barrier that divides people like gender or status.
I love that aspect from her
@@min_nad thanks.
I could care less about what gender I am.
@@haruhifujioka5952 ayyy its haruhii!!
I really like it when Mori blushes 2:30. He definitely felt something 😏
I think the same
Wait why have I NEVER NOTICED HIS BLUSH UUUGH so disappointed in myself 🤬🤬
Tasha Smith-Bonnar me too faccccc
I can't believe I haven't noticed his blush til now...he's like a teddy bear
I shipped them so hard oof
For kyoyou, he also keeps track of all student records, hence hearing "Fuijoka Haruhi" (who is a honor student) makes him know that she's a girl
*Kyouya
Shobio *soo what u saying u have to girl to be an honor student (i dunno😂 maybe i took the wrong way or?*
@@chibichan9586 lmao im answering 2 years later but they meant that in the records it would say that haruhi is a girl

Kyoya: *im smart as hell, i been knew*
Is that from the « high school host club basically »video ? 😂
He has records of the school, so he already knew because of that
2:24 I still think that's the best reaction/scene in the whole show.
😂😂😂
rescue mode was activated
Nah. It was definitely that other guy from the Yakuza with the red hair
Getter reference.
I love Mori
I still don’t understand how the other girls didn’t realize she was a girl
The Chicken Nugget Thief didn’t she have long hair and someone got gum on it so she cut it maybe that’s why
Maybe they were use to her having long hair
Hah! I’m such a weird person Maybe, but does nobody have short hair where they’re at? 😂
Idk
And she started to pretend to be a boy
I had no idea that's what the lights meant I must be as dumb as tamaki
The light bulbs meant every time one turned on one of them found out she's a girl
Lol of course Tamaki is the last one to realize
Yeah tamaki is the last one to figure out because he's dumb that's the most logical but he's still handsome 😘😍
Nah you're not as dumb as Tamaki. At least you figured out Haruhi was a girl before he did.
saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame
I kinda wish Mori was a bigger character, he had his moments, but his “save, must protect” switch being flipped was both funny and cute
What’s the name of the anime 🥺

I cant be the only one who say haruhi's eyes and heard her voice and came to the conclusion she was a girl right from the start?
No, I did too.
Clippy chan well on anime you can't go off voice actors because guys voice actors can be girls so...(Ex. Alphonse from Fullmetal Alchemist, Allen Walker from D. Gray-man...all I can think off but there are more.)
+Clippy chan When i showed my friend the show at the beginning of the first episode she said 'wait shes a girl right?"
+Emily Hillyard like homeys is.. I think
+Yui Sadasi i don't ever know for sure until I look it up. I infer but you never know
I love how his light bulb flickers as it switches from boy to girl until he couldn't be in denial anymore despite the fact that he literally walked in on her. Lmao.

For me when it comes to Mori, I think it's because when a girl yells for help, there's something that goes off in a guy like a 6th sense or something. When he lifted her up that was probably another hint too
lol that funny. It makes sense
Ha thats true actually its an evolutionary thing
Guys react more to people screaming
Girls react more to people crying
True. I mean, look at his expression when she called for help. He went to serious rescue mode.
I’m sure Mori suspected it when she cried for help and his protecc instincts kicked in
1:20 Hitachiin twins’ expression when they took off Haruhi’s eyeglasses wasn’t because they figured out she’s a girl but mostly because of her huge eyes.
They didn't figure out because of her eyes i think they just had the idea. Her huge eyes were a clue, her wanting to change alone was a confirmation
I didn’t even know that was the reason for the lightbulbs, everytime it showed the lightbulbs I was just like “okay I guess”. I had no clue, I feel dumb😂😭🤦♀️

What does it mean the light bulb plzz still ididnt got it
@@amalosmanali1144 Cliche way of showing realization in comic is lightbulb got lit. I though it's a universal thing.

oh im another one
wuhuu!! :D
Ya same here
I actually think that Kyoya knew all along (he probably had her researched or something since he seems to have files on all the students) and the smile was just like "omg they dont know how stupid of them"
It’s so cute to me how the second Haruhi asked for help, Mori was BOOKING IT.
Another way Mori would've noticed is if maybe he has learned to help girls in need, and his subconscious said "HELP THAT GIRL" ,hense the serious face. Then he realized "oh wait he IS a girl"
2:27 Mori's face, that eyebrow
For Mori, I think its theory #2.. mostly because of the blush on his face.. other than that I have zero proof.
Afifah Hadi i did not see that blush until now! thank you!
Haruhi has a pretty flat chest so I think Mori figured it out by feminine feaures or weight.
+potato knishes Maybe it was her bra
HE FETISHES SMALL THINGS
I think it was her voice and the fact he touched her chest, her voice goes pitched all girl-like when she says "Mori-Senpai, help me please!" If you listen close, and that's when the whole chest reveal helps him when he lifts her in the air
I love how Tamaki just straight up closes the curtain

Hahahhahaa TAMAKI!!!
LOL THAT MOMENT
Best part 10/10 moaning xD
*Aahhhhhhh D:*
I thought im the only one knew this part XD
I think Mori found out when he "saved her" because if it was a guy he would probably just went over and told Tamaki to stop, but his instinct came in saying "Damsel in distress" and went into action.
That’s a good theory
No lol it's cause of. His hand placement
@@tiniminecraftgirl853 I believe his "Damsel in Distress" switch was flipped as an instinctive reflex when Haruhi cried out for help
but he didn't realize why he reacted that way until AFTER he saved her (possibly because of your point)
He probably just felt her bra strap lmao
ppl dont got damsel in distress instincts eye... like he probably just felt the bra strap bcuz he was holding her by the armpits
You have a name. Im trash X)
I love Mori's reaction the best, just the way they changed his expression so quickly
hm... i've only ever really heard the english dub so hearing Tamaki freak out with a voice that's not Vic is kinda bizarre to me
shimmyking4 Uhm. What are u talking about
Chibi Chan theres a english dub
Livi Garza oh i know isnt he Miyano mamoru (Sub ?
Vic Mignogna played Edward Elric in the widely popular Fullmetal Alchemist, so it's a little weird to hear Ed's voice in this character who could not more unlike Ed except for the over-the-top reactions.
Kipling Kat That's why it's funny to watch the "ask an anime char character" videos that's have Ed and Tamaki
I kinda wondered what the light bulbs were for, this video helped clarify that
Same
Same!
i know right, i was like what are those for?
The bulbs are for each host club member i guess? XD I think that's a symbol of acceptance for Haruhi so it lights up whenever Haruhi does something they like.
(On) Light bulb = smart idea
Each light bulb represent each person's brain and when it start to light up it means that they thought something; like a smart idea
(Smart) idea = she is a girl.
No explanations needed.
And I think that every guy has instincts to determine who is a boy or a girl you know what I mean? (This idea came from a drama that a girl pretended to be a boy and a guy somewhat thought that he is actually a girl. Drama: to the beautiful you - a korean drama)
You're Welcome if that explains something you didn't understand about the concept of the light bulb
I knew she was a girl by her fingernails, from when she opened the door to the host club at the beginning.
Not from reading the description
@@theerizzler13 “but pop off” salty much? It was obvious because in anime females fingers tends to be more “sharp” and look more feminine .
@Rayne Woodrow stop trying to be an edgelord
I totally didn't realize that the lightbulbs corresponded to when they figured it out. That makes 100000000% more sense now.

I think it's the way she said it, she probably said it in a more feminine way. The word I mean, since it's Japanese and she said "It's cute" and... I don't think I'm making sense
She has another shirt under that
I think it was because he saw her face closer and realised girl features

The bunny Blushed
Agreed
Haruhi: Mori senpai! Help me! Let me go, let me-
Mori picks haruhi up.
Tamaki: Ahhhhhhh......
I love how the first thing that "The King" says to harumi is "Oh, so your gay"

i love that "ah" tamaki does, its so funny
Im wheezing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
15 years ago…15+ years and we STILL have no season 2😭😭😭
No no,, Usa chan was the 2nd one to figure it out, that's why he blushes at 0:55 XD
Yeah I never thought of it like that! They should've put 7 lightbulbs then! LOL OR WAS THAT LIGHTBULB FOR USA-CHAN INSTEAD OF HONEY?!?!
for kyouya i bet he did research on her so maybe thats how he knew so easily
+Evie cant think of a name Or maybe he is smart enough to know when he see a girl.
Stefani Jackson true
I thought Kyouya found out because of what the twins said. In the English version of the anime, when Kyouya asks if Haruhi is in their class, Hikaru and Kaoru say "yeah, but he's shy. He doesn't talk much so we don't know much about him". I guess us girls can be shy or nervous around people we don't know, so we keep to ourselves instead of socializing. So maybe it's because of that.
RandomScreamMonkey, I thought that too.
nah ik this is 3 years late lmao but its because he has the student documents and he must've seen her ID
I actually never knew what the light's were about til now :///
Same i thought it meant if they liked her
12 years later and I'm still waiting for a second season :')
The ending though! Tamaki was going insane😂😂😂
Yeah...I was like: * facepalms * idiot, you're loud
Just noticed it but Mori senpai blushed When he picked her up so the boon theory might be right lol.
I remember reading the comments during the middle of episode 1. They were all saying "I knew she was a girl!" and I'm an idiot 'cuz I had no clue and figured out along with Tamaki XD
i find this absolutely wild that this is from 14 years ago and i’m still obsessed w this anime LOL
Kyouya figures it out because he has the data on all students or most of all
Or maybe he figure out from haruhi voice just like me.
Actually he figures it out, when the twins say "Yeah but he is shy so we dont really know him"
Carolyn Clodd
No he knows it from the start. The text said that Kyoya knew it from the start and the others minus Tamaki figured it out when they interacted with her.
Sakura - chan Oh very well then.
This anime is sooo freaking good, god..
Salut Narok d'il y a 4 ans

of course tamaki would figure it out last...it's tamaki LMAOO, also who is here in 2020
2021 bro
Who's here in 30284?
no 9098
I thought when watching Ouran Highschool Host club the second time that
Kyoya knew because as the family he came from it was like in his interest to know a lot about the newcomer to his school
And Honey because in anime usually when girls look at cute stuff, they get sparkle in their eyes, I thought that he probably saw that because she leaned down
And the twins because the fact she sounded feminine when she told them to get out and because she wanted them to get out in the first place, they probably assumed a guy wouldn't mind being seen and the fact that she refused to wear the guys uniform anyway might have made them realize
And with Mori, I thought it was because she asked him for help, he probably thought a guy wouldn't yell to him for help with that stuff
I'm probably looking as dumb ass Tamaki rn XD
Im pretty sure the way Mori found out was he felt the blouse singlet thingy that she wore under her shirt...
+Ruphia1 ... I'm 12 and I ain't scared to say it . JUST SAYIN
Madison The Gamer I'm 15, I didn't know what it was called.

@@Ruphia1 A bra or boob?
When Honey found our Haruhi was a girl I think it was because she leaned down and he could see down her shirt and see... yeah. Idk, just my theory.
I agree, cuz notice how he blinks twice or so before he blushed?
Shiro same it makes more sense than saying something's cute cause anyone can do that
I like Haruhi's line about her gender identity because I hate it when some people start to act differently around someone due to their what sex someone was born.
Actually, the hitachiin twins found out after shoving her into a dressing room and her telling them to get out.
They were just surprised she was pretty without glasses
Of course Kyoya figured it first. You're so perfect, my love
