Implicit Conversions’ case is a curious one. The studio’s work on PS2 games was thrust into the limelight over the weekend following an interview with TimeExtension.
The website has since retracted the statement regarding Implicit bringing PS2 games to PS5, calling it a “mistake” and issuing an apology.
However, Redditors have found Implicit’s official LinkedIn page, in which the company explicity stated that it’s “working with Sony Interactive Entertainment / PlayStation to bring PS1, PS2, and PSP games to the PS4 and PS5.”
There's no word on whether or not the PS5 will be able to read your personal collection of PS2 discs. As such, it appears more likely than not that retro PlayStation games brought over to the PS5 by Implicit Conversions will be digital, much like its previous work on PS1 and PSP games - which is locked behind a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.

The game in question is Sea of Thieves, one of the four “shared” games in question that Microsoft recently announced. Currently, the $60 premium edition of the game is the #1 pre-order on PlayStation, ahead of The Show ’24, Battlefront Classic Collection and Dragon’s Dogma 2.
That’s a pretty good performance for a 2018 game. Microsoft obviously wants to earn more revenue from the quasi-live game, but the main reason was supposedly to expand the playerbase and keep it healthy.

With the horsepower in the PS5, there's no technical reason why Sony can't emulate the older Playstations and let you play your old game discs. The reason is greed. They want to remaster and re-sell the games, plain and simple.
This is why I still have all of my old old consoles. I still buy physical games but game discs don't even have the game on the disc anymore. So buying physical over digital doesn't really matter because eventually when the PS5 servers go down, the physical games will be just as useless as the digital games. So unlike older consoles, the PS5 and other new age consoles will eventually be obsolete 😢

While Sony is greedy there is also the cost of licensing. Microsoft would pay hefty fines to let people play certain older discs on the Series X and even they decided it was too expensive and stopped.
The real issue in my opinion is long term value. It's not worth buying anything anymore cause it's all live service with no offline or LAN modes.
Overall, people are so blinded by their own problems, they often don't see the consequences of things til its too late. Those who do try to take that time are mocked and labeled, others are genuinely insane.
They see the money Nintendo ranks in doing this.

Agree completely. All we can do is just keep making our voices heard. I'd love a fully backwards compatible PS5. There has to be some system update they can do. I'd even be more than happy patiently waiting for the PS6 to have full backwards compatibility. I don't mind if they go slow and take their time, just as long as it's done right.
Don't like digital to many problems come with it. Games use to be better because they had to be sure t h e game was ready now they depend on patches to take care of any problems. Games ar😢e going downhill because of digital games

The reason FF VII Rebirth is not selling as much as FF VII Remake is because the world is not in a good place right now, Everything has went up in price & gamers just doesn't have the extra money right now to buy games like 4 to 5 years ago..
there was the gamestop deal that ended recently 4 for $40 and 4 for $20; so when i asked the gamestop employee where the deal was. he said it was gone ; since it was only active a couple weeks. i looked around. i found 6 games for less than 50. so i did better than the deal.
Or people simply aren't interested in playing it.

Had a 2600 with a shoebox full of games. Loaned it to my ex sister in law. One controller broke and they threw everything in the trash.

There is a bug that's wiping people's games from their library and there is no fix this is what will become a problem with digital you don't have to worry about this with a physical disk.
One can dream playing your PS1/2 disc natively on the PS5. I got games that’s aren’t available to purchase digitally on PSN. I just need a USB memory card reader for those PS1/2 memory cards.
Hopefully the patent Mark Cerny talked about comes to fruition (backwards compatibility thru spoof clock... or something like that). It had the PS2's memory card reader, which could read PS1/2 memory cards. And it could also play PS3 games, which would be a digital save of course. Maybe not quite yet, but possibly by the PS6's launch.

I have a question about the PlayStation 5, Mr. Champagne, or flock, the hard drive that comes pre-installed on the PlayStation can you upgrade that drive? From the half Terabyte to a 5 or 10+ Terabyte drive?
The biggest m.2 for PS5 is 4Tb for ~$300/~$400
The SSD on the PS5 can't be upgraded.
However you can install a m.2 SSD on the storage bay and up the SSD size. 8tb is the maximum.
However a 8tb SSD m.2 is about $800-$1k , which is not worth it at all.

The way Sony is going it wouldn't surprise me if they re-released the PS2, called it a remaster, and expected the public to buy it again at full price.
It’s never gonna happen for PS1 games because the PS5 doesn’t have a laser to read CDs in the drive. It only contains the laser for DVDs and Blu-Ray discs.

Sticking with the ps4 pro for now, but i did buy an adapter ( bigbigwon)to use the PS5 controller which fits my hasds so much better and works perfectly.

Honestly my biggest problem with the Final Fantasy remake was just how crazy the the aggression system was whatever character you're playing as is getting targeted heavily even if you switch 2 seconds later they're right back on you it has its advantages but it's annoying

Realy good video im 63yrs old and iv still got two Original playstations which wierdly have psp on them but not playstation portables lol iv an original playstation one white in colour iv playstation 2slim 3phat ps4 pro and ps5 with disk drive i did have 2 psps that one of them still has 4gig hard drive the other i jail broke with custom firlware and mainly use that to play roms from snes gameboy nes and other emulated game consils and most roms play ok but prob needs updated firmware cos i jailbroke it at least 15 yrs ago loldid have sony playstation fone aswell but that got stolen which was a shame im looking into putting hard drive externaly to my ps 2 and may look into running FMCB latest version on one of my spare ps3s just for fun keep up these good videos
I haven't bought a next gen console yet but I'm leaning towards an (older optical drive) XBox Series X just because I never owned an XBox One (I do have a PS4) and it's compitable with 100% of the XBox One games from the past generation. However, hypothetically, if Sony were to make it so that I can play my vast physical media PS2 games on PS5, that would have pretty much ensured I'd buy a PS5.
Of course, if I can't get an XBox Series X with an optical drive, that would also ensure that I'd buy a PS5 instead since I want a console that can also play 4K Blu-Rays.
Sadly, even though the XBox Series X has partial backwards compatibility with XBox and XBox 360 games, many of my favourite games I own for those consoles are racing games (i.e. Forza Motorsports 1-4, OutRun 2, and especially the entire Project Gotham Racing franchise) and aren't supported due to automobile licensing reasons.
Btw you CAN play crisis core on PS Vita.. you had to load it onto a ps3 and transfer it to the vita through USB.. alot of psp games and ps1 games to get them on the vita you needed a ps3... Idk how it would work on ps4/ps5 tho...

If only recommend digital on pc / steam. They do not remove your games even if they lose copywrite. On sony you play it one day then its gone the next day. Having it disc on console will help if you still have the data. But once you try to replay it and need patches and DLC chances are there gone and cant download.

At around 5:10 Jimmy says that you can just put Xbox 360 games into your Xbox Series X and it will run the game. That is true to a point, only IF Microsoft took the time to make the emulation software for that game. I still have several games from Xbox 360 that it will NOT play (Culdcept Saga and Battle for Middle-Earth II). Microsoft claimed in their advertisement that it is completely backwards compatible with up to the Original Xbox, but sadly this is not the case.
Addendum to that last statement, you also MUST have an internet connection before the Series X will even try to play those disc-ed games. Something Microsoft should not have done but instead built it into the SDD, much like the HDD for the 360 for playing original Xbox games.

the ps5 or “ps4 pro pro” just isn’t worthit rn in my opinion. Considering most there games are last gen and the performance enhancement mode def isn’t worthit imo sure the graphics are “better” even still not that much better and def don’t care about the controller immersion I turn all vibration off so duel sense and adaptive triggers gimmick doesn’t draw me either def doesn’t make me feel anymore in the game.

On a side note FF7 remake was the most boring drawn out although visually beautiful game I’ve ever played it such a cashgrab let down from beginning to end it felt the equivalent of going to a cubicle office job and the boss battles were your water cooler breaks
And rebirth sounds just as drawn out boring waste of money I’m not surprised it isn’t selling as well the story is good and the visuals are good but all in all it’s a boring shit game compared to the OG that’s drawn out purely for profit I think a lot of people realized that after playing remake although the game overall was well received by critics

I just came here to say that playstation doesn't offer the emulation to half the world. Just because it's available to the US doesnt mean ps5 is the new ps2.
I just want to play MGS4 on something other than the ps3 because the controllers for PS3 are absolute dogshit. I have the Bluetooth Defender controller which is infinitely better but it's not better than a PS4 or PS5 controller, especially the Edge controllers.
