    Barry, I want to thank you sincerely for this video. I am 63 with very arthritic fingers. I continue to play the guitar because it makes the fingers work instead of rot. I’ve wanted to play with a looper for a very long time, but I’m not very good at reading instructions and applying. So, I’ve just let it go. That is until today. Your video was Heaven sent. Your teaching style is absolutely perfect as you walk the viewer straight through each step. This is how a real course should be taught. I’m looking forward to your other videos as well. Thank You so much for this incredible video aide!!

      Thank you so much for your nice comment...I do think playing the guitar is good for us as we age to keep things moving and our mind sharp!....I love teaching, as it's my full time profession, and I love hearing when I have been helpful to someone's musical journey... Thank you so much for sharing your background and your goals of your music and playing... Best wishes! 🎵🎶🎸 See you next time! 🙂

    This is a very helpful lesson for beginners-well done! I want to point out one thing that took me a while to realize. When doing your overdubs in this lesson, you are careful to time the start and stop with the start and stop of the original loop. This is not necessary. Once you have the timing of the "bed" loop correct, you can start the overdub at any time. I would agree that, typically, you would know where the start and end of your "bed" loop are, but you don't have to worry about timing the button push with them. You can comfortably click the looper into overdub mode before the start of the existing loop and begin playing as the start rolls around. Also, you do not need to worry about stopping the overdub precisely at the end.

    Another great 2 chord tune to loop us Oye Como Va. It's super easy, and it's got good rhythm. Also, as a bonus riff to play over the tune, is the Groove is in the Heart riff. Works perfect over the Am7 and D7add 9.

    Favorite looper is from Nux. Has drum tracks built-in that stay synced to the loops you create, and you can route the drums to a separate amp. Can also save loops up to I think 99, so you don't have to re-create the loop every time. Great for a quick jam when you have a few minutes, or extending it out for however long you want. Love the thing.

    • @sundaynightdrunk
      @sundaynightdrunk Місяць тому

      @@bcmusic71 Yeah I think the Boss was the first to do drums. It's really nice to keep proper timing without using a metronome, and the ability to break it out to a separate amp is great because the drums never sound good thru a guitar amp. Cheers!

    A great presentation and approach introducing this innovative tool! As a multi-instrumentalist, I've been relying on backing tracks during performances. However, I've always been intrigued with loopers and I own one but I've just never taken the time to acquire the skill well enough to feel comfortable with it in a live situation. I do believe audiences find it to be more entertaining in watching a performer using a looper that knows what they are doing. It's live and more spontaneous and engaging. Your presentation was inspiring! Now I am determined to incorporate it into my repertoire as well! Thank You!

    Ah-ha. I like that capo moving thing because open chords can provide extra body. Fortunately for me, I have a Peavey AT-200 which allows me to capo-up and capo-down instantly without a physical capo. It also emulates bass, acoustic, 12-string and instantly tunes to any tuning. With my looper, this could get very interesting 😎👍

My looper has 7 memories so if I want to play Tequila Sunrise I could record the verse on a loop then record the 2 choruses on 2 separate loops then just toggle between loops. I would have to work to a click track or drum machine. What do you think

    Hi Barry! I'm an old amateur-guitarist and singer and tried som loopers. My biggest problem I never fixed was the doublestop at the ending. Too slow stepping does not stop the loop and I'm not able to step twice in an other timesignature than the song. Now I'm using the JamMan Stereo, which stops at one step. This is much more useful for me. Sadly the JamMan is not available anymore. Do you know a looper, which has a one-stop- ending? Greetings from Austria.

    So after 30 years of not playing I want to get back into it. Was going to buy an acoustic, like a decent Yamaha, now after watching this maybe I should get an acoustic electric and get a looper pedal. 🤔

    • @bcmusic71
      @bcmusic71  6 місяців тому +3

      Here's my two cents... Yamaha makes great guitars and fine instruments all round.... To me it always made sense to buy an acoustic/electric because it gives me more options... Still sounds beautiful acoustically, but I can plug it in for a gig, or use pedals when I need it to.... I've owned and been happy with Yamaha, Seagull (fine guitars as well), even owned a Sire which punched well above its price... I've had this Martin now for a while, and always thought a Martin would play kinda stuffy? but I love this guitar.... Also still own a Recording King which reminds me of the Martin sound.... Lots of options.... Have fun and much success 🎵🎸

    Great work Barry - many thanks. Your video has given me some ideas and inspiration as I build myself up to re-entering the world of Open Mic playing after a longish period away (cue Covid pandemic - the year the world stood still!). I saw another comment that mentioned the idea that it would be good to also provide some details and explanation about the whys and wherefores of your use of the capo in relation to the foundation key of the song. Building on that thought, I wondered if you might consider taking each of these songs and making an individual video for each one so that you can go into the details of capo and chord family and their relationship with the “base line key” of the song. I have a reasonable understanding but it’s far from complete so details based on a specific song in the way you have presented it with the use of a looper (for performance (e.g. Open Mics) use perhaps, as will be the case with me) would,I think, be a great service to your followers and potentially grow your base. I appreciate it’s not a quick thing to produce but it would be so beneficial to many such as myself I feel. Thanks for what you are doing. Keep on rockin’ and loopin’ 😎🎶

      With that scenario here's what I've done in the past... Some loopers, like the Boss rc3, will let you store an mp3.... I've actually played through a whole song into the rc3, or you can record on a DAW and pull the mp3 into the looper, and store it for playback...I don't think this small Ditto in my video will store other mp3's, but a lot of them do... The Ditto X4 will let you do two loops on the fly, like a verse/chorus.... Or store.....I hope this makes sense...
