Didn’t know about this script. I only knew about the recall one. This one does sound interesting, but I am satisfied with the third movie we got. It was the end of an era.
I was expecting this to be the other known script of Toy Story 3 where it had Buzz taken to the Japanese factory that made him (and he at one point says "Too infinity and be-yatch!") But, this is so damn good. I kinda wish this was the third movie and the 4th movie we got would be the real Toy Story 3 we got in 2010 as a more satisfying conclusion.
Facts, Toy Story 3 is the perfect conclusion but it would've been nice to have more films in between it because TS4 ruins it and for what? A train wreck of an ending.
Interesting to hear about this alternate ts3, but I do feel it's not the strongest script and while it could have been polished I feel the final script we got was overal the strongest one.
I had no idea there was another version of Circle 7's TS3. I wasn't expecting much, but honestly... this is actually way better than the recalled buzz script. And in some ways even better than the actual 3 (and most especially better than 4). Shame it never got made... Though if possible, I would love to see this version get revived and turned into an actual movie by Pixar. They did say that they might do more sequels in order to keep the studio afloat, so I could technically see it being possible (if they're open to using Circle 7's script rather than writing their own that is, and if the team and voice actors are open to do more with the franchise despite 4's ending). Though if it was to be made, a lot of changes would be needed in order to fit in with TS3 and TS4's canons (as well as a way to still have the Potato Heads in the story despite both actors passing away. Maybe do what TS4 did with Don Rickles, but with way more archive recordings used and better utilized in context). The movie would take place between 2 and 3 (like you said in a reply to someone), but one of the major things I would change is the ending. In this version, Dave and Andy's mom don't get married. Not out of anger per say, but more due to the fact that throughout the film, things start to not work out between the 2 as they hoped (all starting with Dave burning dinner). They still have a great friendship however and continue being friends to this very day. Same goes for Andy and Sunny. Even though now they don't have to worry about being part of a family anymore, both still become best friends. Plus even when Andy grows up in 3, Sunny goes to the same college as Andy where their friendship still goes on strong. The toys part of the story would be more or less the same, but with adjustments made to the script and pacing. As well as the "Buzz x Jessie" stuff being reduced so that canon-wise it would be saved for 3 with Buzz's Spanish mode. Plus the "Rex trying to scare everyone" part would be taken out because tbh, it was kind of annoying and didn't add much. Other than the changes I would've made, I can definitely see this working as an actual Toy Story prequel. For a rough draft, it surprisingly has a lot going for it. Way more than what TS4 and Lightyear tried to do ironically enough. Pls hire me Pixar.
As cool as this concept could of been, the whole idea of Circle 7 was a real scumbag move on Michael Eisner’s part. I’m honestly glad Roy E. Disney got the guy booted out.
As a true Mexican, the idea of knockoffs called El Buzz, Stinky dog, and Mr papaya head is funny, I grew up watching Thomas the tank engine and one knockoff called Happy train, and kind of true to Mexican knockoffs
Woah, I did not know that there was a different for Toy Story 3, that is really interesting. It makes me wonder what other canned films had different stories that weren’t publicly available I find it really funny that you did all of the other canned Pixar Films that didn’t have public scripts before Finding Nemo 2 which did have a Public Script
Oh there very much are scripts that were never available like this one! Honestly, I was going to do the Toy Story 3 script that WAS accessible, but when Jim told me about this script, it seemed WAY too cool of an opportunity to pass up!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Totally awesome. Utoypia sounds like an amazing story and I can see it happening too. There are some good challenges for the characters in the story and there are some good themes as well but in the end it definitely doesn’t feel anywhere near on par with the third movie that we got. However this was an amazing video and the fact that you even contacted the author of the script is also very amazing. Your channel is truly spectacular.
I love the idea of someone finding out that the toys are real being shown to be getting counselling and seen as insane by other people. Thats equal parts messed up and funny and I wouldn't put it past Pixar to do a joke like that.
Me interviewing Jim originally started out as me doing that version of the movie, then Jim mentioned to me that he wrote this version, too, so I changed my plans. That Recall/Taiwan draft is BY FAR the most requested video in the history of the channel, so it will definitely be made at some point. :D (Also, unrelated, love the profile picture!)
Great video as always Hemmas! This is an interesting script that could work as a Toy Story 5 with some tweaking (I don’t really want them to milk the franchise dry though) but I’m glad with how Toy Story 3 ended up anyway. The recall script sounds interesting as well, hopefully we can get a video on it soon.
Thank you for watching Menace! I think with some tweaking I really think some version of the story would make a fantastic 45 minute/hour long Disney Plus special that takes place between Toy Story 2 and 3. Kinda like Toy that Time Forgot, but longer. I’d definitely love to see it!
I do really like how this draft touches a bit on off-brand toys produced in foreign countries. Toys are no strangers to having rip-offs based on them after all.
Now imagine an alternate universe where we got this along with the "Whodunnit" draft (s) as either actual movies or specials (kinda like TS of Terror and TS: That Time Forgot) Hee-Hee and Gladiola would probably be a brief mention (or be side characters if Dave also meets Andy's grandma) and I imagine the real Toy Story 3 (Toy Story 5 in this timeline) with Andy and Sunny going to College and a larger group of toys trying to get to them. (maybe Sunny's toys would be on Woody's side)
There’s only so much that can be understood from just a script. It makes you wonder what a definitive version of the blended family story would have looked like, especially compared to the final Toy Story 3.
Though the script needed some work, I think it would've been a great sequel and not only get another story with kid Andy (we did move on from that too quick, probably due to the long gap between movies), but also get to know his family and situation better. But part 2 did end with a good transition to the part 3 we got since their ride with Andy came to an end like with Jesse's Emily. But this film around 2006 would've been great!
I knew of one other TS3 draft that was more of a Whodoneit that Circle 7 did, but when Jim told me that he wrote ANOTHER version, I was totally flabbergasted.
I mean, between having Spanish Buzz in Toy Story 3, a Daycare Scene like the Recall Draft in Toy Story 3, having a Star Command cat character (like in the Recall Draft) in Lightyear, AND Circle 7’s Finding Nemo 2 ALSO taking place at a Sea-World style park - it’s teetering on the edge for me. Pixar claims to have never looked at the Circle 7 stuff, but there are SO many coincidences…
Everyone at 6:26: I FEEL THIS IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUUUUUE! DiDi after they end up lost: I'M MISSIN' EVERY MOMENT WITH YOUUUUUU! Also, if this movie was really made, I would have included a love montage covering those months set to a remix of 'Can't You Feel The Love Tonight' from The Lion King, of Jennifer (still played by Laurie Metcalf) and Dave (Brad Pitt) bonding, containing several homages to Disney films, like a dance at a big fancy party reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast, and a spaghetti dinner reminiscent of Lady and the Tramp
Honestly, despite being completely ridiculous, I would’ve loved this. I still think the Toy Story 3 we got was the best outcome, but if they were to tweak the script somehow I think it would have been a better Toy Story 4
I agree entirely! Or even some way for this to be Toy Story 3 and a slightly modified version of the real TS3 was Toy Story 4! Pixar even could have had Sunny’s toys be long gone and thrown out, and just had Dave and Sunny in the scenes at Andy’s house… outside of that, I don’t think you would have had to change the plot too much :D
Wow, I never heard of this draft! I only heard of the “Recall draft” until now. It’s crazy to think that there are 3 Completely different scripts for Toy Story 3.
Okay first the obscure "whodunit" themed story, the Buzz recall storyline, and now this? God how many scripts were submitted for the non-Pixar Toy Story 3 before Circle Seven bit the dust?
I want to live in the universe where Disney and Pixar broke up. Disney shouldn't be a monopoly and own everything that it owns. it should just strictly be Disney and it's animation studios. Pixar should be on it's own run by John Lassiter, by the way, John Lassiter should not have been fired from Pixar, Cancel Cancel Culture, Marvel should've stayed with Paramount and Lucasfilm and Star Wars should've stayed independent. Disney should've never bought Fox either. Fox should've been it's own thing. Disney should only own Walt Disney Studios/Walt Disney Animation and the theme parks. That's it.
While there are many things I both, respectfully, agree and disagree with here- I can’t deny, the thing that sticks out to me most is Lucasfilm and Star Wars staying independent. I often wonder about the world where that happened…
Have you ever thought about making a video on the canned Gotham High animated series? To this day I feel like it's one of the craziest yet original ideas for a Batman cartoon

A space ranger cat was supposed to appear in the "Recall Draft"...? Maybe they reused the idea for Sox from Lightyear after all?
That is something that also really stood out to me.
I do really like how this draft touches a bit on off-brand toys produced in foreign countries. Toys are no strangers to having rip-offs based on them after all.
Yeah this and Toy Story: Rescue In Taiwan would take place before the actual Toy Story 3. They can be prequels
Also totally love the Rescue in Taiwan title.
I'm shocked to see Buzz's arch-enemy be part of the gang. Zurg is a GOOD GUY?!
Teaching he ain't real
Love these videos, only ever heard about circle 7s version of toy story 2, didnt know about a 3rd
Imagine my surprise when Jim was like “Oh I actually wrote 2 different versions of Toy Story 3”
@@HemmasStudios_ Honestly the plot in this video sounds alot better than the other plot
I like the idea of the main characters meeting bootleg toys
There’s only so much that can be understood from just a script. It makes you wonder what a definitive version of the blended family story would have looked like, especially compared to the final Toy Story 3.
Honestly, I'm glad they never went with this
This really feels like a straight to video disney sequel like fox and the hound 2 or return of jafar
Beautiful awesome story
There is a legit parallel timeline where Rex canonically has a body count
Irrelevant, but as a HUGE Viva Pinata fan, I love the images you used at 22:12 and 22:24!
When the script mentioned Piñatas, I couldn't not pay tribute to that game :P
Is the script for this draft floating around anywhere?
I don't believe this draft is available to the public
Is this the Toystory 2 remake that was going to happen and got cancelled? Yeah if it is then I’m happy it got cancelled.
Okay, there has to be a completed script for this version somewhere out there, the other two Circle 7 Toy Story 3's have their scripts out there...
If Circle 7 survived, Cars 2 would still have been made by them. There's no escape.
This surprised me to the point that it healed my stomach aching!
Huh I never knew this version of Tou Story 3 even existed, thought there was only the Circle 7 version and then the Pixar version we know today
I knew of one other TS3 draft that was more of a Whodoneit that Circle 7 did, but when Jim told me that he wrote ANOTHER version, I was totally flabbergasted.
@@HemmasStudios_ maybe the whodunnit version of toy story 3 became toy story of terror?
So to answer the question, after Disney bought Pixar and made the Toy Story 3 we ended up with, they combined elements of both scripts.
@@HemmasStudios_ what about that other version of C7’s Toy Story 3 having the toys disappear in a who did it style? Toy Story of Terror reused that.
I really like the idea of knock off toys, since they already used ideas like lost toys, daycare toys, normal toys, mutant toys, and collectible toys
I don’t think toys can blush but ok
This comment made me actually laugh out loud.
@@HemmasStudios_ lol it did? Cool
I like this better I wanna see someone animate a fan made Toy Story movie with this script
well another alternative Toy Story 3 was about Buzz being recalled
Jennifer throwing her Bouquet and Jessie Catching it and Buzz Surprised about it, i love it, i wish Disney went with this Idea for Toy Story 3
Do you think you can actually do the other one because I would love to see that
The plan is to do the Recall Toy Story 3 at some point, for sure!
@HemmasStudios_ thanks man and keep up the good work ok
Ain't no way a rejected toy story 3 script just made me cry
There's actually a 4th- there's a Whodunnit "Murder Mystery" style script that I believe was the very first script written for C7 Toy Story 3
“DD wonders whatever happened to the smugglers.”
*”meanwhile in a Mexican psych ward”*
great video. hainous script doe.
Okay first the obscure "whodunit" themed story, the Buzz recall storyline, and now this? God how many scripts were submitted for the non-Pixar Toy Story 3 before Circle Seven bit the dust?
Funny that you mention the Whodunnit draft… :)
4:45 element of surprise!!!!!!!
it’s funny how disney said they didn’t need pixar when there part of the reason they are were they are now.
Is sweet Buzz and Jessie had a moment in this, but I'll still take the toy story 3 we go. I hope we get a kiss in toy story 6 though
This would have been a pretty solid sequel. Sounds much better than the fourth film that we got.
Couldn’t agree more!
The guy who drove the car looks like Simon from monsters Inc. two
A little easter egg by me :P
Thank you
I am so mad that this wasn’t used although I love the draft they used
Are you going to do the other Toy Story 3 sequel never made with the Transformer like Buzz Lightyear?
The plan is definitely to cover that one at some point!
6:05 GUYS HER NAME IS JENNIFER? I guess the “Emily is Andy’s mom” fan theory is dead :/
Do you think if they did this idea of toy story 3 was real would the real toy story 3 be more like a toy story 4
I definitely do, and I think that Pixar wouldn’t have had to change much make their Toy Story 3 fit into cannon with this movie.
I Never Knew About This Version Of The Thirdquel I Only Ever Heard About The Recall Story
Have you ever thought about making a video on the canned Gotham High animated series? To this day I feel like it's one of the craziest yet original ideas for a Batman cartoon
I can't lie, I was looking at Gotham High stuff recently. I can't promise a video on it, but I can promise you that it's been on my radar recently :)
I am interested in the abandoned Incredibles two that they tried to make before Disney acquired Pixar
Ooooh could you please tell me more about this?
Well, one of the Circle Seven projects was a sequel to the Incredibles before it was scrapped. I have no idea what it was like.@@HemmasStudios_
I have no idea that's more of your expertise@@HemmasStudios_
I like this original Toy Story 3 original draft script, I wish we had this original version then the final script we got
The only other draft for Toy Story 3 I knew was the one where Buzz got sent to Taiwan.
I knew of the Taiwan one and one that was a Whodoneit, but I never knew about this one- when Jim told me about it I was so surprised.
when did andy get a zurg?
At some point between movies!
Can you do Cancelled Madagascar 4 please
I can definitely look into it!
Can you do circle 7's finding nemo 2?
I would love to do it at some point- I have a ton of love and respect for all of these circle 7 scripts. So, definitely :D
@@HemmasStudios_ i really do love the work you put into the videos i really love it and learned about these cancelled movies like im impressive with how much information you found really enjoy your videos hope to see you do more in the future :D
Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate the kind words!
This would have been sooo much better than what we got, i hate the final one
Could you make a video about 1906 and why it never happened?
1906 by Disney, Pixar and Warner Bros would have been Pixar's first live-action film.
Why is this so much better than Toy Story 4 😭
It's not fair
It’s such a wide margin of quality it’s not even close. This script is a great example of how you do Toy Story as more of a comedy- as opposed to Toy Story 4
honestly if this was toy story 3 and toy story 4 was what we got with the official toy story 3 i don't think anybody would be mad
Couldn’t agree more!
@@quandaledingle4807 Yeah, that would be cool.
So this is where spanish buzz idea came from
Man, this would have answered a few lingering lore questions if it happened…
Huh. Thought the Taiwan version was the only one planned for Circle 7.
In addition to the Taiwan draft and this version, there was also a Whodoneit Mystery draft!
@@HemmasStudios_ Oh wow! This movie had lots of drafts, haha. Also, if I'm remembering correctly, there is actual concept art for this around! Its with the vacuum scene with Jessie.
Hemmas, I don’t know if you would have any interest in this at all but I am in the earliest stages of writing a comprehensive research paper on the history of Circle 7 and I would love to collaborate with you if you’re interested!
I am very interested in this! However, I personally don't have the bandwidth to help you at this time :(
I'd LOVE to read it when you're all done with it, though!
The blended draft is better than the one we got
Man, I think this plot is WAY better than the one where Buzz gets recalled or the one where the toys slowly disappear at Andy’s grandma’s.
Also, does Hemmas have a Discord server?
I do not have a server as of now, but I’m always pretty active in the comments section!
I would've loved this version of TS 3.
It would have been so great :D
I'm not the only one thinking this influenced Pixar's TS3 right? with the merging of toy groups and such
what an interesting script!
It didn't. One of the guys behind the final Toy Story 3 explained that they refused to read the Circle 7 draft, meaning that they came up with their own story from the ground-up.
huh, interesting.@@KnightEclipser
