I bought one and its great! If you want the John Bonham big drum sound, this is not for you. But, if you want something small for a light gigging and practice, this is perfect, with some modification, see below. First, let me point out the benefits that offset the negatives.... 1. It is compact and fits in a gig bag that you can literally wear like a backpack. You can lug all your gear in 1 trip, no back and forth to the car. That is super beneficial for drummers that gig a lot in big cities where parking is a nightmare. 2. It is about half the DB level of an average kit. Great for garage practice. It is perfect for small gigs. I am middle aged and I realized over a decade ago that no one at the dive bar cares about your Marshall half stack or the drummers 17 piece kit. Diming your amp because your drummer plays a 30 inch ride cymbal and a 14x8 snare just turns people off. Playing a smaller kit, smaller amps for small gigs is way better. Even if you play a bigger venue, they mic everything anyway and the sound guys make you turn down..... try playing a 100 watt tube amp at level 1.....sounds like shit. 5-15 watt amp you can dime and still make the sound guy happy. 3. You're not hogging up all the practice space with your damn drums. I modified it to get more depth for a rock sound. It was pretty easy. There are no resonate heads which gives it a very flat sound, like paper. So here is what I did.... The shells are about 2-3 inches in depth and kind of float. 1. I removed the thin heads it came with and, bought some new good heads 2. For the tom I took out the shell, placed the old thin head on the bottom to act as a resonate head and put the new head on the top. Put the shell back in, floating on the edge of the resonate head. Put the hardware back on and hey!! it worked!! piccolo
@@chasduster I got my mine on ebay. It was being sold by the manufacturer in Brazil. Pretty cool kit. I live in a condo complex and have a detached garage outside. So I need a small kit for practice and recording. I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly suprised by how it sounds. I put on some Remo Ambassadors and tuned the tom down to low. The snare is my biggest issue though. Its very thin and small. The snare is built with no resonate head and the snare wire touches the top of the snare. What I did was screw in a 50 wire to the bottom and attached thin clear a resonate to the bottom and then put a Remo Ambassador on the top. Doesnt sound great, but it works. Sounds kind of Iike an over muffled piccolo snare. There are 10x4 snares out there if you want a better snare sound.

Great design. Sounds need worked on, but given it‘s design that would be incredibly difficult to create. My suggestion would be to make the same thing but have digital sound that is much more realistic. Or have an amp connected that can enhance the sound. It sounds very basic and flat, sounds like it would be used in a trap song that relies on some sort of canned bass boosted vst to rely on a better sound.
The pearl rhythm travellers is one of the best portable kits you can get, they are tiny and produce near studio quality and not to mention they are designed in such a way that you can stack each drum underneath eachother for easy travel
Tired of lugging around that travel kit? Well now you can lug a travel kit build from a cajon. It’s just as convenient but sounds like an orange crate.
Let's make a video of extreme close ups that shows everything, the sticks, the guys nuts, the top of the drum heads, the bass pedal beater.... everything except the gigbox.
Look for everyone cutting this Kit down. it is made to be played in very small spaces like a Cocktail Kit. So when you have a small trio and doing Jazz or easy listening guitar and need some backup this will work out just fine in the venue you are playing. It sounds way better in a tight setting.
