Got a new to me 92 Seca II 600cc for my first bike. Clutch slips in power band until it’s hot, then it will grip. New friction plates came in today! Will be swapping them tomorrow.
Nice hope this video helps. It was pretty easy. Have fun with the bike!!!! Thanks for watching.
@@MotorcyclingwithCarl it certainly will, I like getting an idea of what i’m about to work on if it’s something new to me. Will do! Safe riding.
I just bought a 93 seca 2 red just like yours , thank you for showing me how to maintain my clutch when I need to .
No problem that is such a fun bike. Thanks for watching

Do you still have this bike?
@@Joey.webster yes I do. I won’t sell it I had one brand new 2 years out of high school. I bought and restored this one its my fountain of youth now lol
Make sure that you soak your new plates in new oil before replacing unlike this fellow. The cork needs to be able to completely soak up oil before going into a tight stack that doesn't get a ton of oil flow once assembled.
Replacing the 1 in my bike helps alot thanks
Np appreciate you watching!
Looks like progress to me . No more slipping clutch. This project bike seems to be moving along nicely. This video made it easy to follow along .Good stuff
Nice, smooth, and very organized!
Nice job, thanks Carl! I was told to soak the new friction plates in oil for some time. But what for, the oil gets in there anyway.
That may be a good idea. I think if someone suggested it to me before I had done it I would have. It wouldn’t hurt. Thanks for the idea for next time.
Good deal 👍👍
Good instructions Carl. Did you say the bike only had 5,000 miles on it? Somebody must have riding that clutch or reving it up and dumping the clutch to have worn out so soon.😒 Ride safe my friend.👍🏻😎
Its a wet clutch I don’t know if sitting around for 28years did it much good either
Made that look easy!
It was very easy hardest part was cleaning off the old gasket.
good video thanks
Very easy video to follow along with! I’m going to be doing this repair next weekend but the xj600 I just picked up is missing the copper washer and bolt that go onto the throw out arm, would you happen to know the part numbers? I’ve been trying to find them online but the diagrams are complicated. I really appreciate any advice and Thankyou for the video!
I will try and take a look in my book later when I get home.
@@MotorcyclingwithCarl I sure do appreciate it big time! A service manual is on my list of to dos for sure
My manual doesn’t have any part #’s I found all my stuff on line they have the diagram’s with the part #’s. Sorry I didn’t have the #s
Try partzilla
@@MotorcyclingwithCarl That’s no problem at all! I’m going to try and pick up a Haynes manual here soon. I really appreciate you taking the time to look though and thank you again!
What brand of clutches did you put in it
I don’t remember off hand I will have to look back and see where I got them from
Thanks for your video man, I don't know if you could help me with my problem, I am having problems when the discs get mounted and the 5 screws in front put back, I can't disengage, the bike is blocked on the "engage", no matter how much I pull the clutch cable...
Do you have any idea about what to do ?
Thanks a lot mate for your help :)
Do you have the same bike?
@@MotorcyclingwithCarl It is an XJ600N but yeah it is definitely the same ;)
@@armandsellier9347 have you taken the discs and fiber plates off. Was this a problem you are trying to solve or one that was created after taking it apart?
@@MotorcyclingwithCarl the problem was initially that the clutch couldn't disengage, when I was pulling the cable and engaging one "speed" It automatically engaged the wheel like if there was no clutch at all...
So I opened it and checked the discs to see if they were not stuck together because of the rust or anything else..
But it seems like nothing worked even after cleaning everything...
When I mounted the 5 pins back, I think it's that thing that sticks everything together, either that or my cable isn't pulling enough, else I don't know...
@@armandsellier9347 I wish I was there to actually have a look. Did you check to see if everything is ok and working properly on the arm that engages with it through the cover?
Well done Carl! ps...a quick walk around of the upgrades so far on my Sportster Nightster...I have to learn how to get a better quality video uploaded. ua-cam.com/video/Y3fwsMc3H08/v-deo.html
