Sure hope your really reviewing your comments man, you are loosing more, more, more " old fans"-- as your credibility continues to shrink-- SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT???
I think you are wrong about this; from other scientists, I have learned that saturated fat/monounsaturated fat, or natural fat is the only macronutrient that is NOT metabolised by the liver..the intestine processes it and chylomicrons enter the blood stream very quickly. You should be advising people to cut out the carbs (completely unnecessary for humans) Am guessing someone has put you up to this fallacy fuelling :-( What a shame, you were such a pleasant influencer.

I was going to go to the "all air diet" but found out it was polluted
Best comment on this section. Nowadays we’re practically eating poison for our foods, thanks to our Corrupted government and big food industries.
You have to inhale filtered, ORGANIC air❗ 💨
Sure feels like that’s the only solution: only air diet.
Same for water only
Water is polluted
Unfortunately, it's all most people can afford now adays.
I was 495lbs. I had NAFLD diagnosed by my doctor both with blood work and using an ultrasound. I kept eating what my doctor told me, I exercised and I kept getting fatter and fatter and more metabolically unhealthy. I was on the list to have gastric bypass surgery but because I was so high risk I was told I needed to lose 80lbs in order to have the surgery safely because I was a walking heart attack. Imagine that, being told to lose weight to have surgery to help me lose weight. Anyway, that is when I turned to High Fat Keto and it changed my life. I didn't even count the calories. I ate until I felt full but kept my carbs to 20gr a day and ate unprocessed foods. The weight fell off like magic. I combined this with intermittent fasting with a 6 hour eating window and I completely reversed my Type-2 Diabetes, Insulin resistance, high cholesterol, high triglycerides and I'm no longer obese 7 years later. All with just changing what I ate. No surgery, I came off all my medications. I now do OMAD instead of the 6 hour eating window and I feel amazing. I'm so thankful because as luck would have it I slipped and fell and ended up with a spinal cord injury which left me mostly paralyzed from the waist down and due to my chronic pain from the injury I'm very sedentary and can't do much in terms of exercise but I have been able to manage my weight quite successfully with my Ketogenic ultra-low carb diet. So that there should stand as an example that we are what we eat and while exercise has many benefits for health and I'm not denying that, you CAN be metabolically healthy without it through diet alone because I am proof of that!
More power to you. Keep up your good work.
👏🏼😄 Bravo‼️
Wow, good for you! So sorry about your injury - hope you will regain more movement! Good luck!
@@elenaskok1819 Unfortunately it's permanent for me. But it could be worse, I could have been in much worse shape than I ended up.
That’s what I tell everyone. Abs are made in the kitchen.
All I know is that my triglycerides were over 300. After going on a strict Keto diet, they dropped to 120 after two months. Weight came off faster than I could have imagined or hoped for. Before keto, I had three heart attacks, two stints, and then open heart surgery to bypass the only artery they could repair. After all the doctors could do, I slowly went downhill and came to the point I felt like I was going to die if something didn’t change. A few years later I finally gave in to my wife’s suggestion to try keto. Desperation overcame my addiction to carbs and I gave it a try. “Keto Flu,” the adjustment of your body switching from burning carbs to fat, normally takes two days to two weeks. Well, I got to experience the full two weeks of energy loss, but I was determined to stick it out. It paid off more than I could have imagined. Everything improved! No going back!!!
Here are the key takeaways:
1. **Dual Culprits - Fat and Sugar**: Both excessive carbohydrate (sugar) and fat consumption, particularly saturated fat, contribute to fatty liver and visceral fat, not just sugar alone.
2. **Overconsumption is the Real Enemy**: The root problem is the overabundance and overconsumption of hyperpalatable foods that are quickly absorbed, overwhelming the liver with nutrients.
3. **Liver Overload**: The liver, central in metabolism, struggles when bombarded with too much fructose (from sugar) and saturated fats, leading to fat storage in the liver and insulin resistance.
4. **Study Insights**: Research indicates that regular soda (high in sugar) consumers have higher levels of liver enzymes indicative of fatty liver compared to diet soda consumers. However, saturated fats also significantly increase triglycerides and impair glucose metabolism.
5. **Saturated Fats and Insulin Resistance**: Saturated fats can directly contribute to fatty liver by being stored as fat and by impairing insulin signaling, leading to increased blood glucose and further liver stress.
6. **Dietary Recommendations**:
- Limit saturated fat to less than 20% of total fat intake.
- Increase intake of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats to improve insulin sensitivity.
- Increase dietary fiber to mitigate the effects of sugar.
7. **Balanced Approach for Better Health**: Reducing intake of either saturated fats or sugars can positively impact health, but addressing both is more effective. A balanced approach to diet, focusing on reducing harmful nutrients and increasing beneficial ones, is key to reducing visceral fat and the risk of fatty liver.
Thank you!
But long carnivores do not have fatty liver
@@paulfortone3049most don't add copious amounts of fat to their food, though.
combined with i/f and exercise
@@paulfortone3049that’s because it’s harder on average to over consume food while doing carnivore. Throw carbs into the mix and suddenly it’s easy to overeat.
Saturated fat was never a problem until the introduction of seed (vegetable) oils and the increase of carbs. Look at culinary history in the U.S. up until about 1960. The incidence of CVD, cancer and diabetes were all very low when most people ate diets high in animal protein and saturated fat.
I have 100% boycotted seed oils from my life. Occasionally if it's extra virgin, I'll dabble in that food but that happens every couple months or so. Otherwise, I'm on a 99% animal diet (eating monterey jack and pork rinds right now) and what did Thomas say? Like 20 grams of saturated fat a day? Holy smoke! I'm eating 400 or more grams of saturated fat daily for just over a year now. I lift and made better gains now and have more energy than ever before. I'm also shredded like that Athlean X guy - not to make your eyes roll or anything, just that I really am thriving off tons of animal fat minus seed oils (and no bread, even the butter-based bread my wife homemakes I'll rarely if ever eat).
I will never eat a seed oil again. I can’t wait until this becomes accepted common knowledge. It will happen, as more of us live longer and healthier than the seed oil eaters.
@@jjjc0711 It's so sneaky too. Mountain Dew has "brominated" veg oil in it.... soda of all things - not that soda & corn syrup are healthy. Pancake mix has oils in it - like why? Things that don't need oil or even butter will still have oil.
My wife just found the most acceptable bag of flavored popcorn since it's made with USDA certified organic avocado oil (I still won't touch it) and no joke, organic non-dairy butter flavor - like wth actually is that?! Why try so hard when you could've avoided really expensive oils and weird-ass butter products and just use butter! Holy freaking moly! No that's just too unhealthy to even offer a butter popcorn option - stick to seed oils ;)
@@gregmoldovan5921 I like the video where a guy named Nigel goes to the grocery store and finds all kinds of junk in every package he randomly picks up. And they have gotten so sneaky about the names of the ingredients, people don’t realize what they’re eating.
It’s so much easier to buy whole foods from the perimeter of the grocery store. Everything tastes better.
We are currently on carnivore with occasional non-sugary fruits like avocado, tomato and cucumber (no skin, no seeds).
Funny you mention Mountain Dew. I was a huge Mountain Dew addict since high school. I still have one case of Mountain Dew Baja Blast. I just can’t bring myself to throw it away. But I’ve had it for over a year. Now that I know it has vegetable oil in it, I believe I’ll be able to toss it Friday morning with the trash! 😁
@@jjjc0711 Well not so fast with Baja Blast - it may be fine. The brominated veg oil (has toxic bromine added to it) is so the yellow color didn't separate. It was specific to the color of original Dew, but the others may have it also. I too was an addict. Good job knowing that the skins and seeds are poisonous - the protein in grains and vegetables are generally allergenic and unhelpful proteins.
What has helped me is to think about what's more expensive: the box of soda/etc or your health?

It’s no wonder people throw in the towel and just stay fat. The “experts” change their opinions like they change their underwear, making it so no one knows WTH to believe. This channel was all in on Keto for a long time (typically lots of saturated fat,) then carnivore. One “expert” says carnivore is the only way to eat, another says it will kill you and you should only eat rabbit food. It’s tiring. I’m on carnivore and I’m sticking with it. But maybe I’ll start eating nothing but sugar…because it’s apparently okay as long as you’re not eating it with saturated fat. Lol
Most nutritional "science" is bunk. "Influencers" stand to always gain a profit by promoting contradictory science every other month because it elevates confusion and frustration. Which causes people to jump to fads and promoted junk supplements and foods which turn out to be bad for you. Spinach smoothie anyone?
exactly i'm so over it
Did you ever stop to consider that there is a lot of diversity across human populations genetics-wise and thus what works for one person may not work for another? Most of these health influencer folks muddy the waters to get clicks. The average person has no idea how flawed even peer-reviewed scientific studies are, especially when it comes to humans and diet. Find what works for you by measuring the important bio markers (HBA1C, blood pressure, triglycerides level, LDL to HDL, waist size) and sticking to a diet long enough. Learn how to measure and track calories and macros properly. Don't IGNORE sauces, condiments, cooking oil/butter, and the calories in drinks that isn't water. Find what works best for you. It's not rocket science. Stop being lazy and do the work.
the problem is that obesity makes dumb. You did not listen. he is stressing that pint over and over again. The keyword is "excess". The second one is: high fat high carbs combined.
be honest to yourself, measure your food intake for only 4 weeks and you will see the truth.
Keto helps, and he is still in that camp. Getting insulin resistant with low carb keto, or low carb hi fat is a completely NORMAL response. if you eat too much of it: you get fatty liver.
yet it is difficult to overeat on Keto, because gLP1 is working fine under that condition
@@monnoo8221 I agree but the problem with his recommendation is that he never quantifies “excessive” or adds more detail.
Is one stick of butter daily too much? Two, three or what? Coupled with how many grams of carbs? What type of carbs? He left out too many variables & it’s confusing for some.
My first hand, data based experience: January 2023 diagnosed with NAFLD, high cholesterol and high blood sugar. Blood work numbers ALT, Triglycerides and A1c all high and out of normal range.
March 2023. After 3 months of learning and applying keto diet change. All blood work numbers returned to normal. January 2024. Just had blood work again. All numbers have improved. I don't fear fat. Fat is my Friend.
And sat fat is where it’s at!
Ofc
Man has preferentially eaten it forever
Fatty liver is caused by re-esterification of free fatty acids inside the mitochondria, which are then stored within the liver itself. This is how the liver gets fat. Visceral 'bellyfat' is mostly excess blood glucose converted into triglyceriden and then dumped by the liver inside the abdomen wall. It is all about insulin resistance. Hope this helps.
Hyperinsulinemia once again
Hmmmmmm like a pattern…
Can you explain this in a way that a layperson can understand?
that is false! he explained why.
Eat too much and too often you spike your glucose. It has to go somewhere. The body puts it in your liver if you have excess . Do this chronically and you screw yourself up. Genetics make it worse

After years of research, much head-scratching, much arguing, much confusion, and often total frustration, we've arrived at truth: People are just flat out eating too much. Perhaps we should be trying the long arm diet. Just push away from the table.
Easier said than done, we're genetically programmed to gorge ourselves when food is available, because for nearly all of our existence food has been scarcely available, and one has to load up as much as possible when one can.
Duhhhhhh.....
The thing is people are primarily eating too much B/C we are bypassing the ways our body naturally becomes full and satiated...IE highly processed foods. They lack vital nutrients so parts of the body wants more food to find it, they are chemically designed to be addictive, and it's calorically dense so the calories pack fast (ex: soda). It was after fixing my diet that I found myself to simply not want to eat that much anymore.
@@Masterr59
This is a significant portion of it, but there's still more to understand.
The types of fats matters.
The type of carbs matters.
Types and balance of amino acids matters, branched chain etc.
Also how these interact with each other matters.
One can be metabolically healthy on a primary carb diet, with less than 10% of the diet as fat, but the same can be said for a high fat, low carb diet. The worst is in the middle, where most diets reside.
I highly recommend videos by Brad Marshall. He digs deep into the research on this.
Interestingly, the data seems to support a high carb low fat diet, low in branched chain amino acids, with the carbs being starches is the best
The fat needs to be less than 10% of the diet, and low in poly and monousaturated fats, being primarily saturated fat.
As for the carbs, to keep the branched chain amino acids low, as well as low in polyunsaturated fats, you need to focus on eating starches, avoiding grains and seeds.
So basically potatoes(casava is better though), with a little bit of butter, and a small portion of animal based protein is probably the ideal human diet for metabolic health. For your protein source, it's better focused on high collagen sources for a better balance of amino acids and keeping BCAA low.
Do this right and you're metabolism kicks it up a notch. You can still eat a lot, while burning off fat. You just burn more calories than you take in, and insulin comes back to baseline fairly fast.(also way more in the background)
If one chooses to go high fat low carb, this can also work, but the above seems to be a bit better. For high fat you want low poly and mono unsaturated fats, with low carb and some protein.
This works by reducing hunger, so you easily eat less, causing a caloric deficit, thus weight loss.
My mother had fatty liver, and I have put her on a modified keto/low carb diet, and they did a liver scan, and they say it's as if she doesn't have it. Also, her blood sugars are great. I'm on a high protein, low carb, medium fat diet, and I'm still in ketosis.
You are going to destroy your organs. Ketosis lowers your bodies PH and it's a bad thing to be in for long periods. But you'll figure it out when one of your organs fails.
It's impressive what our body can do once we give it the right nutrients. Great job saving your mom's life. Fat liver is a very serious condition that can kill. I don't have to worry about my parents, they don't even like fast food or eating junk. My dad however drinks a bit much on weekends but it is the only sin he commits. He is very healthy at 80, no prescriptions for anything. I don't remember my dad ever complaining about a headache or anything else.

Good work!
I was in the death zone for visceral fat , now I’m in the healthy zone. My scale only registers the change, after very long walks 60-90 minutes. It never changed with diet alone except recent water fasting.
Just sharing my story: I’m in my 50s and was diagnosed in August with suspected fatty liver disease. My liver enzymes were very high, and they ordered a MRI… I began intermittent fasting, low carb, ate avocados, curry with lots of veg, coconut milk and tofu. I had big salads, homemade veggie soup, tempeh and stir fries. Breakfast was usually avocado toast with Ezekiel bread. I had a 6 hour eating window and sometimes did 48 hour water fasts. I had plant based yogurt and fresh berries or a piece of dark chocolate. Once in awhile red wine. I’m vegan for many years, I ate healthy but I ate WAY TOO MUCH!!!! In only a few weeks my liver looked almost “normal” according to the doctor and repeating blood work in 90 days, my liver enzymes dramatically reduced. I also took milk thistle supplement. I have to continue this lifestyle or I will risk damaging my liver and that alone motivates me to do better, every day! Some of us falsely believe that eating healthy means eat all you want. I’m extremely mindful now of what I eat and drink.
Please make this a UA-cam video. It is hard to find low carb vegan recipes or anything about how to do low carb vegan!!
Wow, incredible story. Intermittent fasting is the keystone to resolve almost every health issue. If I were you I would completely remove tofu and other soy for your diet. Another good video. Thomas, you are in an interesting lane. Common sense is not a big seller. Good on you for taking an open minded, learning based approach. I have always believed most arguments aren’t because someone is wrong. Most arguments are because everyone is, at least partially, right.
Still not convinced…

Fat consumption is the real problem.
I’ve been following your channel since summer’23 and I really like the fact that your content is science based. In watching your videos I have learned a ton and that has helped me lose 30 lbs and stay motivated to lose 15 more to reach my goal. Thanks for sharing your story and thanks to all the info! I’ve suggested your channel to many of my friends, some who have picked up on it and have also benefited from it!!
Awesome. That’s some serious progress!
Amazing explanation, thank you for this!
How is it that saturated fat is the problem when most, and sometimes all, highly processed foods are made with vegetable and seed oils? That Chik-Fil-A, McDonald's fries, or doughnut was not fried in tallow or lard. It's all cheap peanut, canola, and sunflower oils. The theory that it's saturated fat that's to blame is tenuous at best. Fun fact: Squirrels love acorns because they are incredibly high in oleic acid, which is monounsaturated. Great for fattening a mammal for winter.
McDonald's used to fry their French fries in beef tallow up until 1990. They were infinitely better then.
@ThomasDeLauer please more content about how to reduce saturated fats on keto. Also: Look into arachidonic acids which are consumed too much on keto and can possibly lead to / aggrevate arthritis and hearing loss. I wish I had knewn about arachidon acids long before. This keeps me from going Keto again - food choices become even more difficult.
No, its not about simply being in ketosis. Ketosis is not a swiss armys knife.

I have been waiting for years to hear this from influencers and I am not surprised it's you being the one saying it. Thanks for stepping up and telling the truth now that there is clear evidence. I'd love you to talk about the experiment where the person also has 5 drinks a night (rum and coke let's say with full strength coke - HFCS) on top of all this other stuff. If I understand, the liver is going to deal with the alcohol first, then the fructose, then the glucose. Right?
I can eat all the bison, beef, eggs, and butter I want. Never get full, never get fat (when I eat that way).
Needed to hear this, tired of fasting and the bloat being the damn same at the end of the month
but I've also increased my steps by 100% so realizing it's not just saturated fat + carbs that needed fixing
Got this, ty for the knowledge!

@@JudyNepune Yeah I had thought it was this at first too and it could still be this too because fermented foods aren't helping which is a good indication of SIBO
Thanks for this information. I think the research and evidence of the role of processed seed oils on production of visceral fat should be mentioned as it is a high proportion of fats included in fast and convenience food and therefore endemic in many peoples diet.
The Arctic Inuits ate a diet extremely high in saturated fats and secondly protein with zero carbs. They had no metabolic disease as reported by the early white explorers.
They also have enzymes to deal with it and burn lots of calories everyday
@@lucylane7397 So then the real question is where to buy Eskimo enzymes so we can all eat tasty diets
Those early reports have later been found to have been blatant nonsense with zero basis in reality. In reality Inuits are the shortest-living and most disease-ridden people on the planet.
*_«These data show high CHD and stroke prevalence in Alaska Eskimos, despite low average LDL-C and high HDL-C. Hypertension and high LDL-C were independent correlates; identifying these risk factors early and treating to target is recommended.»_*
*_«The current belief that the Inuit are protected from CVD is seriously questioned by the results of the present study. Considering the extremely high prevalence of CVD risk factors, a population-based intervention reinforced for women is urgently needed to reduce their risk.»_*
*_«The data collected through this new investigation shows that Eskimos do have a similar prevalence of CAD to non-Eskimo populations, and in fact, they have very high rates of mortality due to cerebrovascular events (strokes). Overall, their life expectancy is approximately 10 years less than the typical Danish population and their overall mortality is twice as high as that of non-Eskimo populations.»_*
*_«“Considering the dismal health status of Eskimos, it is remarkable that instead of labeling their diet as dangerous to health, a hypothesis has been construed that dietary intake of marine fats prevents CAD and reduces atherosclerotic burden,” remarks Dr. Fodor.»_*
*_«The mortality from all cardiovascular diseases combined is not lower among the Inuit than in white comparison populations. If the mortality from IHD is low, it seems not to be associated with a low prevalence of general atherosclerosis. A decreasing trend in mortality from IHD in Inuit populations undergoing rapid westernization supports the need for a critical rethinking of cardiovascular epidemiology among the Inuit and the role of a marine diet in this population.»_*

Keeping sugars controlled keeps your insulin controlled which keeps your hunger controlled which keeps excess energy intake controlled. Which is why high protein, moderate fat, low sugar diets “work” for SOME people. Exercise allows you to take in, use and store sugars more effectively though so that is also a major factor for our obese society.
Unless the hypothetical person in your example is insulin resistant. In that case, it isn't the sugar that results in 'controlled insulin', because if the cells signal that they need energy, and the pancreas supplies insulin, but the cells are resistant, then the cells keep signaling for energy, and the pancreas keeps introducing insulin into the bloodstream... the cells will not get the energy they require, and the blood-insulin levels will remain high until such time as the body begins to recover from its insulin sensitivity.
So, your hypothetical applies mostly to people who are already mostly healthy. For those who struggle with metabolic dysfunction, it's not so simple.
Thank you for describing topic!
Thank you for this great information 👍
I keep carbs under 45 grams a day with no more than 15 grams of that as sugar. A high carb intake will increase your risk of cancer especially if you don't exercise regularly. I walk between 4-6 miles a day at work and do technical diagnostics and I have more energy than the typical sugar addict on their 4th red bull of the morning 😹
Awesome, I'm trying the same
Except the idea of carbohydrate causing cancer is ridiculous nonsense with zero basis in reality, based on blatant misinterpretations of what it means for cancer cells to exclusively rely on glycolysis. In reality, populations which rely more heavily on fats for energy have far higher rates of cancer, most likely due to how biochemically inferior fatty acids are compared to sugars, causing way more oxidative stress.
There's no such thing as a "sugar addict" any more than there are cars which are "gasoline addicts"; the human body has literally been optimized over tens of millions of years to run on sugar, which is what we've derived 90-95% of our energy from for all those tens of millions of years. No idea why you're talking about red bull, which contains toxic stimulants like caffeine, and has nothing to do with sugar itself.
You also don't have more energy than people who consume carbohydrate, because fatty acid oxidation can't deliver even remotely the same power as sugar metabolism due to how inefficient beta oxidation is. You can walk around all you like, but someone who consumes carbohydrate would totally destroy you in any activity which requires anaerobic muscular use.
In a natural setting, the confluence of sugar and meat/fat intake concurrently is unprecedented. The principal catalyst behind this dietary deviation is the consumption of seed oils and processed foods. These agents disrupt appetite regulation by inducing inflammation in the hypothalamus, concurrently impairing metabolic functions. The ingestion of hyperpalatable processed foods, devoid of essential fiber, water, and connective tissue, facilitates rapid consumption with minimal mastication, fostering overeating during each meal.
The ensuing cascade of excess insulin and leptin insensitivity perpetuates a pattern of frequent eating. Compounded by the addictive attributes of such processed fare, individuals are compelled toward exclusive consumption of these items. Therefore, embracing a dietary regimen featuring saturated fats and judicious amounts of glucose/fructose is permissible, while the avoidance of oxidized omega-6 and processed junk foods is advised for optimal nutritional well-being.
Well said.
Best breakdown and recommendation I've heard

Fatty liver can also be caused by high cortisol levels. Which saturated fats help to keep cortisol down. I’m 45 living proof ❤ I eat a stick of grass fed bitter a day wow it’s helped me so much to keep hormones balanced. Way better than HRT which I’ve been on since 35. Let me just say this, I ate low-fat, moderate protein, higher carb, pretty much my whole life switched over to paleo trying to help me get my hormones dialed in. The olive oil and coconut oil are not sex hormones . You cannot rebuild hormones when you loose them on those fats. Now if you been keto for a while in your early 30’s you’ll be ok transitioning into your 40’s and 50’s with less issues maybe when you start loosing hormones. It’s really hard when do many people think they have the saving grace for everyone. But unfortunately that’s not how it is. Healthy saturated fats are needed for hormones. ❤
your're only around 40 - your hormones shoudl be same as 35, what are you doing that makes you loose them? strange
Excellent content! Thank you.
What an enlightening video,
Denise Minger said it almost 10 years ago. High carb + low fat = magic. Low carb + high fat = magic. The murky middle is where bad things might happen 🤔
No, high carb low fat is the problem. Ever since the high carb low fat diet was pushed everyone got fat. It's the problem.
My father, who battled severe allergies-both seasonal and related to various foods-along with inflammation issues, even while maintaining a balanced diet, adopted the Carnivore diet around fifteen months ago. Remarkably, he shed all his visceral fat (not that he had much) and, at the age of 63, is now in the best physical condition I've ever witnessed. Despite his history as a dedicated bodybuilder since the age of 17, his current appearance surpasses even his peak . Now, thanks to the carnivore diet, he maintains this impressive physique and health benefits and healing. On another note, I’m not sure why TED Talks did not air Mikayla Peterson’s interview in what it’s done for her.
To be honest, I don't think an exclusively meat-based diet is anyway way to live. I believe that by being mindful of what you eat, you can enjoy a variety of foods and maintain a balanced lifestyle but that diet is definitely to be considered if you have chronic health issues!
I also want to correct and say that it is not the best shape I’ve ever seen him in. However, it did take years off of his appearance.
@@TheFirstAmendment What is the ratio of fat versus protein that he consumes?
Meat-based is a perfectly fine way to live.
@@Babs42commonly causes hair loss done long term - that’s obviously not the ideal way to eat long term for everyone or even most people. I did it for 12 months straight and it was wonderful, but once you’re metabolically flexible again it makes more sense to have “seasons” where you add in fruit that’s growing at the very least. Eating plants in season only prevents the toxic build up of things like oxalates that cause kidney stones (which I had but that have been cured with carnivore+fruit diet).
Structure carnivores often times have to supplement with electrolytes or they get cramps and what not - again, any diet where you need electrolyte packs to not get cramps is clearly not ideal for that person long term. Idk why carnivore fanatics act like it’s the best diet for anyone at any stage of health and for an unlimited time person - that’s just a crazy thing to claim.
@@bostonjackson9384 i’m not sure the exact ratio. However, I can say that it’s pretty well balanced, because your body uses the fat to metabolize the meat.
Dr. Barry on UA-cam is a solid go to for information
I had to pause the video to go grab my second piece of apple pie and ice cream. Super entertaining and informative!
Thanks, very informative.
It seems to me that everybody is missing the point including the researchers. It is the combination of Carbohydrates along with Saturated fat that leads to a fatty liver. If you consume carbohydrates along with Saturated fat, the liver will use the carbo hydrates for fuel because there is no processing needed. The Glucose goes straight into the blood stream to fuel your energy needs. So then what will the liver do with the Saturated fat if it isn't being used for energy ? Of course it will store it in the liver as Visceral Fat and around the other organs. Saturated fat in the absence of carbohydrate fuel will then be processed into fuel as Ketones ! Overconsumption of saturated fat would of course put the liver in the same position where it has more fuel than needed and thus stores excess fat in the liver and in surrounding organs.
Thank you 😊
Does that mean that I should not eat keto bread and dinner rolls with Kerry Gold butter? Please help. Thank you.
Thomas, I'm confused now! The other day I saw a video of yours doing grocery and you said Pork belly is better because its saturated fat and Pork chops do not have a good fat profile but in this video you said pork chops are good because of mono unsturated fats. So which one is correct??
This dude sold out long ago, my advice along with hundreds more, find a different guy!! Anthony Chafee's is very good
Can you answer it Thomas??
Here is what "google" says:
Pork fat is composed of about 45 percent saturated fatty acids and about 55 percent monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Of this, monounsaturated oleic acid makes up more than 40 percent.
Pork, similar to beef, contains 65 to 70 milligrams of cholesterol per 100 grams. Very high-fat cuts contain more; back fat, for example, contains 100 milligrams of cholesterol per 100 grams.
Thank you i have been trying to see what works the fastest and your info will help so thanks 👍😜😎
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the study did not focus on a "Saturated Fat / Protein" diet versus a "Sugar-Carbs / Protein" diet. In fact, it doesn't describe the contents of the "test meal" (referenced in the study) , so it very well could have been rich in carbs. Since we all know that mixing fats with carbs is a recipe for higher glucose levels, it is little wonder that the saturated fats diet produced "...an exaggerated postprandial glucose and insulin response to a standardized test meal compared with SUGAR" (quoted from the study).
Further, of course the saturated fat diet produced higher postprandial triglyceride levels...but that is a transient state and doesn't directly correlate with NAFLD (this elevation is why we fast prior to a lipid blood test). As with so many of these studies, the methodology was flawed in my opinion, and only attempts to "prove what the mainstream are already preaching". Just my opinion, but that is how I see it.
(NOTE: The study was funded in part by Novo Nordisk... a global healthcare company that develops, manufactures, and markets pharmaceutical products. I find it interesting that a drug company that makes money from diabetic patients funded the study that blames fat for NAFLD. Got to keep our customers "a little sick", so we can keep selling our product,)
Thanks for your take. Thomas seems like a great dude, but I don't understand his obsession with fatty livers 😅
Our species thrived on Saturated Fat from animal sources for 300,000 years and it wasn't a problem.
It's still not a problem today.
Seed oils and excessive sugar, primarily the fructose-bound variety are the culprits.

@@schrubelwubel good to hear. From what you are telling, but consider that I kind of distant still, I still see your nutrition deficient in omega 3 (low LDL). care about vit D not oversupplying. else, very lean seems a bit euphemistic here. The problem before your diet change was lack in protein and plant poisoning, the problem now is that you are deficient in insulin, possibly in vit A, and anabolic metabolism. 20% of calories of carbs is indicated, but no fresh rice, sweet potatoes are a good choice. there could be still poisoning through use of seed oils. May well be, that your metabolism is in the wrong corner: -> go weight lifting and help your energy metabolism by supplementing Arginine-AKG,
Note that low LDL is not good. Low TG is ok, but low LDL points to a deficit in the capability to transport fat. start consuming more olive oil, sardines and mackerels for a correction.
Deficiency in Omega 3 fats can lead to systemic inflammation, kidney damage and loss of neurons or heavy brain fog.

Maybe I'm slow, but what I heard you say about saturated fat, it sounds like it is only a problem when combined with a high carb diet. Though you presented it as if it was a standalone issue.
