Aloha, Auntie. Here to share some aloha with you. I would love to learn to make lei's with ribbons soon. Will be tuned in to your videos for guidance, Auntie. Mahalo for sharing
I'm sewing every two holes up and down as you said. I'm having a lot of trouble pulling the thread through when I add more. It messes up everything I have done...
ua-cam.com/video/sxBdP_fH99Y/v-deo.html I have this video 'how to get started..' so we can sew little by little. I hope this is helpful. Thank you for watching.🌸🌺
Please try to push down little by little, maybe after 5-6 stitches and push down. If you push down, push in the same direction. If you puch to the right, always to the right. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
Usually I made 32" for elementary children. It'll be more than enough. This kind of lei is supposed to hang by your chest. But if you want longer, it's still need to be higher than the person's belly button. That's my guideline 😉
I think 10 yards is a little bit too short, but it will make an OK length. But you can make with extension ribbons, if you need, too. I have a video that shows how to add extension ribbons. Thank you for watching 😘
AYE! I made a plumeria lei (1 color and Picot) - watched a different video as I had not found yours as of yet, and they said to use a 5 in needle and every other picot hole... OMG, it would not spin, nor lay correctly. :(
My advice is sew running stitches (up/down) every other picot for about 2 inches only at a time, and push down clockwise little by little. I hope this helps.
ua-cam.com/video/p5gfowMMKlc/v-deo.html Please watch start minute 4:26 To connect the lei, usually I use this trick. Before I tie the thread together, usually I lock stitch both ends first. I hope it helps. 🌺🌸
The thickness of the ribbon also make a difference. In this video I used 2 single faced ribbons sticked together. If you used only one ribbon, you just need adjustment a little bit. Usually tight is good, but try to loosen a little bit, maybe it will shape better. You also can put the picture on my instagram #momslittlethings or facebook #Mom's Little Things, maybe I can answer better. Thank you so much.
Do you mean the white ribbon in the middle? The white ribbon is 3/16" picot satin ribbon. It has little loops at the edge of the ribbon. So, I count every 2 or 3 loops, to sew the lei, so it will look even and neat. If there is no picot ribbon available in the store, you don't need to use picot ribbon. Just use the blue/yellow (any colors) ribbons and do running stitches every 1cm, but the lei's ruffle will be different. The lei will be pretty, too. I hope I answer your question. Thank you so much for watching.

That's beautiful lei. I like to learn. Thank you for the demonstration.
Thank you 🙏 loving it, wow👌❤🥰
Thank you so very much 😘🌸🌼
Is the white picot ribbon just to help with getting the stitches consistent in spacing or is it to help keep each “layer” of flowers separated?
Beautiful!
So pretty 😍 thanks for the video!
Very nice 👍
How many yards of ribbons I need to make a standard size lei? I really enjoyed your video and your leis are absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much
I usually used 15 yards. I think this is enough for about 36"-38" lei. Thank you for watching.
Simply made beautiful!♥️
Thank you very much 🌸🌼

Pretty
Lovely ❤ thank you ☺️
Beautiful thanks for shearing ❤️
Thank you so much😍
Beautiful!!!!
I'm trying to do these but the ribbon is curling down when I pull the thread. What am I doing wrong?
Please try to push down little by little, maybe after 5-6 stitches and push down. If you push down, push in the same direction. If you puch to the right, always to the right. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
What yard adjustment would you do for a lei for 3-4 year old kid?
Usually I make 24”-25”. It will be so cute!! Thank you for watching 😘
I mean the lei is about 24”-25” long, but the ribbons we need around 11-12 yards each color. It’ll be more than enough. Thank you again.
Hi! This lei is so beautiful. Would the length of this lei be appropriate for a 11 year old child?
Usually I made 32" for elementary children. It'll be more than enough. This kind of lei is supposed to hang by your chest. But if you want longer, it's still need to be higher than the person's belly button. That's my guideline 😉
How long does it tske you ro finish one lei?
Hello, I like to enjoy myself while making the lei. For this lei, it'll take me at least 5 hours to make one. Thank you very much for watching.
How many yards of ribbon each?
16 yards each
I did one style but it came out differently?? Help how to show you in pics
Hello.. you can post the picture in my message in facebook or instagram #momslittlethings. Maybe I can help. I'm pretty sure it's pretty, too 😍😉
Thank you.😊
I only have a 10 yard satin ribbon. Will that work if the person is not very tall? Please let me know. Thank you.
I think 10 yards is a little bit too short, but it will make an OK length. But you can make with extension ribbons, if you need, too. I have a video that shows how to add extension ribbons. Thank you for watching 😘
You are really good
Thank you for watching 🌸
Great tutorial I enjoyed watching all of it friend
This says 16 yards of each color ribbon. Is that correct?!?
Yes, I usually used about 14-15 yards for 38" lei. I wrote 16 yards to be safe, or maybe some people want to make a little bow, etc.
Thnx for the video. What sizes are the ribbons?
I used 7/8" ribbons, and the white picot ribbon is 3/16".
Is it 16 yards of ribbon for each color?
It seems too long!
2 yards of thread is too short.
@@momslittlethings8910 Thank you. How long does it take to make one lei?
How long is the lei after done?
It seems 15 yards of ribbon is too long.
Karyn Lam I had this same issue when trying to make the lei. The amount indicated for the threading won’t make for the length of the lei
@@momslittlethings8910 The ribbon length was fine. It was just the length of thread was not long enough. But the lei came out beautiful. Thanks!
Nice
thank you so much 😉🌸🌼
Satin ribbon are both 7/8”?
Yes, both are 7/8", and we put them back to back, so the lei has 2 colors. Thank you for watching 😘🌸🌼

How many yards of ribbons do I need.
I usually used 15-16 yards each color ribbon. It'll make 38" lei. If the person is very tall, maybe add 1-2 more yards. Mahalo 🌸🌼.
How do I tie off each end? Your video doesn't show that.

@@momslittlethings8910 yes, it helped alot! My Lei came out beautiful and it was my first time making a Lei. Thank you so much 💜!

The shape of each plumeria seems wrong. Did I make it too tight?

It looks good to me
