Morrowwind is kind of a transitional game. Between the end of the boomer-rpgs and modern ones. A beloved classic that drew alot from the golden age of rpgs, but was something distinct from its contemporaries and kicked off the next era of rpgs.
I like how in most of the fighting in Skyrim, you use the Dawnbreaker sword which is probably one of the most useful weapons to get early on due to how frequent players enter dungeons filled with nothing but Draugrs.
Morrowind takes the cake goddamnit, best elder scrolls to date.
Honestly, Morrowind's RPG mechanics are a step down from Daggerfall.
@@deantrail6789 yes, they are. But the experience and compactness of the world is better. All in all Morrowind is a great allrounder and perfectly represents what I personally like to see in an RPG including the attributes and combat calculations.
The mechanics are the best in Morrowind. Waterwalking, levitation, jump spells, acrobatics etc. are just amazing. Its so surprising they cut those amazing things out of Skyrim.
@@Rainer125 bethesda was too lazy to make dungeons that work well with levitation. they tend to do a lot of circular tunnels with shortcuts back to the entrance. gets kinda boring
All Elder Scrolls games are great in their own ways.
Morrowind was so much more alien than anything in Starfield......

1:35:40 The best thing about Morrowind that I miss is the alien world and cultures that had all that depth. That uniqueness and complexity is what its progeny sorely lacked :(
Morrowind wasn't just rushed, the main programmer had all but quit when he wasn't chosen to lead Morrowind development. The head writer was either fired or left when the game was almost done, there is a rumor that Todd fired him for smoking weed, but idk if that's actually what happened. Then the main company Zenimax almost when bankrupt while they were making Morrowind, only to fire the guy that had built the company. Everything took about 2.5 years, which for the late 90's was considered a extremely long by comparison. Todd actually mad the Imperial Cult missions and finished the game's writing, which is why the quests seem to rushed or why some give you really op rewards but others barely give anything. That's right, the Todd himself actually saved Morrowind and by extension, Bethesda itself

Do you have any tips about how you produce such highly edited and extremely long content within a month or two of each other. How you have the spare time to do it, and your process of making it? Just last year Skyrim sucked me in for maybe my 5th playthrough. I made an orc named guppy with a 1h usually sword and restoration in the other hand. This is the first time I've played orc and it's crazy you can just wait 24 hours any time you find a difficult encounter the racial is so so strong. something feels kind of sad whenever you kill Alduin it feels like theres no more reason to explore so I really took my time with guppy rarely fast travelling and just exploring everything I find and like damn Skyrim is amazing to get lost in this game has taken so much of my life lolol

Morrowind is still so great. visually very dated, and th mechanics are old school, but its mh favourite rpg of all-time by far. I still do playthrough every year on the Xbox
Another good thjng about morrowind is you can play it on android and it's pretty good using touch screen

If I recall correctly during the oblivion crisis the daedra decided to invade black marsh and some buffed up hist empowered argonians basically spanked the daedra forced them to retreat and the argonians chased after the daedra. Argonains basically became doom guy

What do you find boring about it?
Yeah what part? Combat? Movement? Lack of fast travel?
Ithink a lot of the disdain towards Morrowind comes from a few different things, like having a journal instead of a quest list and quest markers, and the lack of fast travel. The combat can be hard to get into as well if you don’t understand how the system is supposed to work. There’s little to no voice acting, and an abundance of reading. The graphics are pretty dated, the npcs are hideous and dumb as rocks. It’s not as big a deal for us “Morrowind Boomers” because we’ve got years of good nostalgic memories amping us up. There’s no denying Morrowind is a little janky, But underneath all that slop and jank, there’s a dense world steeped in history and lore, characters with unique and interesting backstories, and some of the best world building and quest design Bethesda has ever done. In my opinion, at least.
This Morrowboomer also hates slide puzzles & thinks Owen Kung really knows how to put a video together.

I min maxed character in oblivion 3 ish years ago. Spent the first 15 levels maxing endurance and completing side quests (without turning in) for the ones affected by squishy NPCs. Collected all the skill books I could get without immediately using and kept hitting the same dungeons for randomly generated skill books. Closed 40 something oblivion gates after level 20. It was interesting leveling without touching most of the big quest lines but it did kill the joy a bit. Barely play anymore, occasionally boot it up and play for an hour every few months. 🥲 successful in-depth min maxing is a great way to ruin a game.
