  • #garden #tomatoes #squash #zucchini This is part 3 of a series where I cloned tomatoes and planted seeds in larger pots to get larger plants for planting the second summer crop of veggies. This is a bit more work than just plowing and planting seeds, but it is worth it because the plants start producing much more quickly.

It was around June 19th. Here is the video I released about the planting of the 2nd summer garden at the time.

I tried the same compost from Humble Acres last year after a neighbor told me about it. It seemed to work well, so I drove down to where they produce it and bought a pickup truck full to top off my beds. The SCEtv show Making it Grow featured the business on their show a while back and the Clemson Extension people who produce the show seemed to like it. It’s neat to see how they make it and talking with the owner, who was screening the compost at the time, said they can hardly keep up with the demand. I’m curious to see what you think of it! I hope it’s positive because I mixed my raised beds full of it! I’ll be looking for a review!

I have done a review of the Chicken Manure compost, and will be releasing that video on Friday, comparing it to black Kow, in the same way I compared Black Kow to the other 2 cheaper brands on that video. Great to hear that you visited the farm, and that they screened the product. And when you see the video, you will see that it screened very very well in my test. It did make an ickky glob in the bucket, so make sure you mix it up really well. I used it to plant all my second seedlings, so I will show how they are doing on the video. Thanks for watching...

could try planting chamomile or basil near or around the plants that get eaten. also, the bugs seem to not like used coffee grounds, food grade diatomacious earth or tomato plant clippings on the ground.

I do appreciate the organic gardening tips. However I usually just dust the base with Sevin powder, and try to pick the squash bugs off the leaves since I don't have a large planting of the squash and zucchini. Thanks for watching.

Fantastic as usual. I like how down to earth you are. Because, like me, you live in Georgia, you are my inspiration for what my garden would look like had I not been occupied with the failing health of my parents and my husband (he’s recovering). I hope to sow seeds for fall/winter but it depends. I do have perennial fruits, herbs, and veg and self seeded Toms and basil, but it would have been nice to have attempted Zucchini again this year ( I’ve yet to triumph again the SVB). Anyway don’t mean to bore you. Take care.

Not boring at all. I'm so glad people watch and comment. What part of GA do you live, if I may ask?

@@annlewis7279 Ok - about the same growing zone I'm in. I hope things get better for you soon, maybe get some greens and lettuce in the ground for fall.
