    Recipe:
    in a pan heat some oil, add 1 tso mutard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds and 1/4 tsp hing
    then add green chillies (2 roughly chopped) and mix, now add 1 onion finely chopped and cook this well
    meanwhile, to a motar pestle or grinder add 8-10 cloves of garlic and 2 tsp red chilli powder, pound that together to form a paste u can also use some water at this stage
    add this to the pan, cook the paste, add spices like 1 tsp coriander power, jeera powder, salt, garam masala and mix it well
    finally add chopped coriander and switch off flame
    now add 1-1.5 cup dahi, mix this well and serve!

    An authentic kathiyawadi dahi tikhari only has garlic, no onions or chillies are put. However this could be your version with a twist but the authentic one only has red garlic paste :)

    After getting the masala ready , switch off the flame , let it come to room temperature , than add curd and enjoy......curd is neither heated or cooked , now enjoy if coriander us available in season can decorate.

    Add 1 more minute to heat the oil and then put mustard seeds. Most of cooking influencers these days just do tadka in cold oil.

    Sounds good but those whole seeds are a problem. I think it would be better to use powdered spices. The children keep taking out rhe seeds from their mouths - irritated- and they don't want to eat it again.
    Be considerate of our children.

      Skip onion,Kadi patta and mustard.. just Heat oil and put garlic chatney or pest (Garlic+chili powder+sault) and add dahi.. you would like it with bhakhri.. try this simple thing for Tikhari

    Barely any nutritional value, and all the yogurt nutrients are also gone because it has been cooked... What's the point of this??

      Wrong. First yoghurt isn't cooked and the cooked onion and spices mixture is first cooled so the gut friendly bacteria is still alive. 2nd even if the Yogurt is cooked the protien, and carb etc is still there.

      @@KH-lm8rp please go and research a bit before spouting nonsense. Proteins in yogurt get denatured when the slightest of heat is applied - unless you have completely cooled the masala in a fridge and then added yogurt, you are going to lose the proteins. The reason yogurt is added to indian cuisines is to give it a flavor profile of sourness / tanginess - it is never used as a substitute for nutrition because other dishes already contain the nutrients from other vegetables / meats. Your dish is devoid of any nutritional value and eating with rice only provides carbs.
