I had this problem with reluctor wheel displacement about 70 degrees on one of camshafts.
I return wheel to right position and welded all 4 camshafts. After engine assembly has no errors, all work good

I just got a E350 with 29,000 miles and I like it. I hope the engine stays around for a while

01:15 Could that be coaxed and aligned to index both pieces? And then T.I.G. welded into place?

Is the tone wheel made of steel? Am asking as my M276 has perfect wheel alignment but am thinking of getting them laser-welded to reduce the chance of the wheel slipping.

Hi I have the same issue with my M274 do you know if a tool like that exists for that engine or is a new cam my only option?

Hi I have rebuilt my engine and i have 2 engines and for both engines whan i do the timing the crankshaft on 40 degrees the camshaft timing right but when i turn the engines to 53 degrees to check the timing with the holes on the top for the sensors to see the signal plate is it half whay through, but when i check in 2 engines they not half way do you think that i need to move the signal plates for 8 camshafts with this toll because i have it but im not sure if this the right thing to do because all 8 camshafts are not given me half on the holes and they 4 from the first engine machines the other 4 from the second engine could they all be wrong and all matching wrong , can you help me please

mmm you'll probably want to verify the tone wheels haven't moved and try setting the base timing again. Unfortunately, both cam covers need to be removed and you'll want to get the timing tools. It's a bit involved.
