Minn Kota Riptide 112lb Thrust Transom Mount Speed Test

- I did a speed test with my new transom mounted 36v 112lb thrust system. It pushed my 1654 aluminum boat 4-4.5mph. This test was done after running for about an hour, so not fresh off the charger. By the end of the day it was still pushing me 3.8-4.3mph. I should also mention I added 185lbs in weight (batteries/charger), and these are the numbers it put out.
Previously I was running a 12v 55lb thrust transom mount. On a fresh battery I would go 2.7-3mph, but after an hour it would go 2-2.5mph, and in 2 hours is was dead. - Розваги
Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks , Needed that info 👍🏽 Do you Need 2 batteries ? What battery/ Batteries do you Use ?
You need one battery every 12v. This 36v motor uses 3 batteries. I use the lead cell Duracell group 31 deep cycle/marine batteries. I have a video on my channel talking about them “what’s the best trolling motor battery”
@@SammyBenitez - Damm 🤦♂️ Ok, Thanks , going to check it out 👍🏽
@@SammyBenitez 112 lbs and can't teach top speed of 5mph?
@@solidsnake4022 I hit 4.5mph with wood deck and framing and 6 group 31 batteries plus me and my gear on a 1648. I just put a Kipawah prop and I’m hitting 5.1mph now
Thanks man. How long is your boat? I have an 11’ plastic Coleman crawdad boat I’m thinking about loading one up to
Mine is 16’
I'm thinking about putting one on a 12" pelican
How fast do you think I could get up to on a 110 lb. Sun Dolphin American 12' Jon Boat? 5.5?6? Mph
I think 6mph is possible. I lost about 120lbs (lithium batteries) from my boat and added the kipawa prop and I’m getting 5.3mph now
Riptide 112 should run 6+ on a polymer Jon Boat
Kipawah prop 5.1 mph bet American 12' would run 6.5-7 mph
An 86 lbs thust trolling 24v brushless motor would be faster. It compares to a 3hp gas motor.
Brushless would be more reliable. I’ve never tested if they are faster than brushed motors
Any brand you recommend on the brushless?
and a 3 hp motor will go 5 mph.
You only have 12v going to the motor
@@jasonmitchell2440 no, 36v = three 12v motors
Look at your German. It says 12
@@jasonmitchell2440 I have the Garmin hooked up to a separate 12v. It’s not on the same battery bank as my motor
Huh. My friends garmin will push his 21ft triton fish and ski 4.9mph. That doesn't seem great.
Different shape hull, also thrusting from the bow would yield a higher speed in most cases as well.
Garmin Force is also a 36v, so basically pushing same lb thrust.
