Quad lock is amazing, are use it on my bike and in the car actually broke my iPhone 12 mini and then bought the iPhone 13 mini and the case worked on both I have the vibration dampener and it’s awesome, I’ve also used their rain cover a couple of times and that also works excellent thanks for doing the videoalways great content. Thanks, Ben.
The way you were carelessly winding that socket wrench so close to your display, slowly getting closer and closer as the bolt went down, made me wince.
I was going through the forest and managed to get my phone caught in a tree branch which did end up ripping the phone out of the mount because it broke one of the tabs off the mount. Luckily I found my phone. I contacted Quadlock to buy just that part of the mount and they ended up sending me a whole new mount for free. Can't beat that! I only wish that they had the cases available in other colors besides black (red or orange would be awesome!) to make it easier to find your phone in case you do drop it or eject it in the woods.
Sorry, but my inner mechanical engineer can't help but be pedantic. Dampen is to moisten, damp is to reduce the amplitude of vibration or oscillation. Therefore, the correct terminology (@2:54) is "vibration damper" (i.e. you're not getting your phone wet with that device, you are trying to reduce the vibration). Now that I'm done being pedantic... Ben, you need to warn us before the off-color humor (e.g. @0:59 - "That's a lot shorter than I expected... heard that before") - I was taking a sip of coffee and almost choked on that one! Keep up the good work!
I’ve only used the QUADLock system once. It was on my 2018 ATAS. I used the handlebar mount WITH vibration damper with my iPhone 11. The servos in my camera were shot after 3 rides which were primarily on road. This has soured my opinion of the product ever since. I’d love to try them again but can’t risk the possibility of replacing a new iPhone 15.
I hate handlebar mounted anything. My comm and phone are paired to my bike, so I can view everything on my TFT and control it all with my left thumb. Navigation is through a Zumo XT2. Phone goes in my tank bag or inside jacket pocket. I like not having to take my hand off the handlebar. Doesn't the AT have Apple Car Play?
Was that an issue with the mount or the phone? I’m not sure the same thing wouldn’t happen with any mount. I’m using a RAM mount with an iPhone 14, and so far so good. 🤞 It does not have any dampening, but maybe the arm absorbs some vibration. I also take it off the mount when off road, and use a Garmin GPS instead.
I have use a quad lock on 3 different bikes for over 10,000 miles, two bikes were single cylinders which are notorious for vibration and harmonics. I have had an iPhone the entire time and have ZERO complaints. My camera works just like the day I bought it.
I had an iPhone14 Pro camera fail while using a vibration dampened quad lock. Started having issues after the 4th ride. I’d assume around 500miles. I now keep my phone in the map pocket of my tank bag if I need it accessible, otherwise I keep it in my pocket.
I've been using Quad Lock for over 2 years now and I have had no issues whatsoever. Great, quality product that protects my phone and enhances my motorcycling experience.
I've been using Quad Lock for about 5 years, also. I have mounts on my bicycles, on my motorcycles and in my truck and I've never once had an issue. I don't mind the case, either. It's black, I don't need anything fancy. And the number of times my phone has hit the deck is ridiculous; with no damage to the phone itself. Good review, Dork! Cheers!
100% agreed. I will never go back to another brand. I bought the new s24 ultra phone in January, and quadlock already had the case available for preorder. Got it 2 weeks after the phone was released. They're always on top of their game.
I've been using a quad lock since 2020 and have not lost a phone yet! I've been able to blitz through whoops without losing my phone so that's saying something! The only times the phone has come off was when my body knocked it off when I crashed but it has always been right there.
I bought a $0.74 knock off on aliexpress, with a $2.50 vibration dampener. My friend bought the full quadlock system for $130. We compared them when they arrived, they were identical aside from the branding and mine still having a slight burr from the injection moulding process in some places. I've owned it a year now, 80% on road/highway riding and 20% gravel/rocky/dirt track, dropped the bike offroad multiple times, and my $3.74 system and phone are still perfectly fine
This is my third season with Quad Lock. And I have had zero problems whatsoever👌🏻 I just need the charger for my bike and I’m all good. Again only positive things to say👌🏻
Great video as always. Just want to add that they do sell a universal case mount. It can stick to just about any case with adhesive. But I've used Quadlock for a couple years and love everything. The cases are great quality. I also constantly drop my phone, and they are magnetic so you can stick your phone to metal surfaces.
I must be that 1 in a million cases where the Quad lock messed up my camera (I-phone 11 pro) after only 65 miles (with the damper in place). All interstate on a BMW R1100RS. I might give it another try on my Transalp.
Any concern about heat in the summer with the wireless charging option? My phone is on the edge of overheating even without the bit of extra waste heat from wireless, so I haven't built up the momentum to actually install the thing yet.
I tried ordering one and they do not have one for the samsung A53 5g . They suggested I use an adapter which would be connected to my current phone case and would end up being raised above the profile of the phone case. Not interested in that
I've never owned a phone that they have a case for, so I wind up having to use the stick-on adapter. This is fine by me but the adapter does stick out the back a bit which can be awkward on some other mounts.
Have a quad lock on my suzuki drz400s. I have bought a new kawasaki vulcan vaquero. And need a new system. I have jrs handle bar upgrade. Just not sure which set up I need. Thanks for the video. Awesome. Ride safe
I have a 2023 Honda CRF 300L, I don't know if my clamp bolt is a M8, what if it's not? I hate to spend the $120.00 to have it arrive and not fit. Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
13MM? Heresy! 😄 The Quadlock RAM ball mount is my favorite because it lets me move it around the bike and try different setups. The Magsafe case is solid but a little clunky on the buttons when compared to my Spigen.
I switched to Quad Lock a couple of years ago after trying a number of alternatives & having my iPhone camera being destroyed by most of them, fortunately while still under warranty. I had a really nice phone case, so I started with the stick on adapter, which I don't recommend to anyone. It adds bulk to the back of the case which interferes with wireless charging. The standard phone case is a much slimmer option, despite having the mount bump on the back, and is really robust. I've heard that the mag case is even slimmer, but they don't make it for my current phone.
Are you sure your phone isn't just overheating from sitting out in the heat ? Wireless or wired charging shouldn't cause that but I've noticed on my high windshield bikes phone doesn't get enough airflow while on my dual sport it never overheats as long as I'm not stopped in direct sunlight
I've found that the lock(+) shaped thingy...it wears out. The edges make the case loose. But it's only a couple dollars to replace it. Quadelock is the best phone holder...change my mind😆 It keeps you phone in place whether your on rough county roads or in the trails. Never ejected the phone in a sudden nap✌
Same experience but replaced without question by Quad Lock. Well, I had to send a photo. The problem was this was my main navigation on an off road trip. I won't make that mistake again.
I'd have to disagree with your summation. I have the RAM spring loaded claw with charger. It's what, maybe half a second longer to mount and dismount. My mate runs the QL. Last dirt ride we did his had an "unscheduled dismount". Mine didn't move. It was only a rocky logging road. His QL is almost new. My RAM is four years old. It's also not the first time I've heard of a QL jettisoning a phone.
Love my QL system. The only thing I had issues with was the wireless charger. It doesn't seem to work great with lithium batteries. Lead acid seem fine. Even with it switched to Auto it would still drain my battery. Even when pressing the little off button at the back after each ride, it would drain my battery. The main reason is that I had it wired to the battery. Going to have to find some switched power up front of the bike that cuts power when I turn off the ignition. Should be okay then :)
I've been using the QuadLock clones for about 3 years now. I wouldn't mind the actual legit product except for the price, and I can't tell the difference between that and the $9 clones, and on 3 motorcycles and 3 bicycles the sticker shock of the QL product is real.
I don't like dedicated phone case. 90% of the time you are then hauling unnecessary bulky/heavy case when not actually riding. And even so is this case really protecting the phone like a good phone case should do ?
The vibration is also not a problem if you don't have an iPhone. At least none of my Androids has ever had an issue even with offroad riding on bicycles without vibration dampeners, which is WAY more shocks than on motorcycles.
The frequency is what they believe fry the stabilizer software/hardware. Motorcycles have a lot higher frequency. According to the tests (research) they should never obtain damage on a bicycle. I’ve heard the opposite of you. I’ve heard of almost all Samsungs being damaged.
@@adammfharris Better safe than sorry. Luckily the clones have caught up on the stabilizer. I just got a QL clone WITH the stabilizer in the package from AliExpress, the whole thing was < $7 shipped. I've been using the clones for a few years and they're indistinguishable from the brand name ones. I had a Samsung once. Hated it. Gave it away after a couple of months. Too bad because the hardware is great but they can't leave the damned OS alone. If it shipped with stock Android I'd buy them every time.
Can anybody out there vouch for the Quad Lock working well for iPhone on one of the unicorn (690/701/700) bikes? I'm not a phone mount user yet - used to use RAM Mounts but kinda hate them now - so I just chuck my iPhone XS Max in either my jacket or pants pocket, and even there the vibes from the 701 will jack up the camera where the OIS is messed up for a good time after the ride. Maybe a vibe mount Quick Lock is the way to go?
I have a 701 matched always to an Android phone with a QL case. I've had one issue. The plastic cross lost one of its protuberances which made the phone vibrate horribly on an off road trip. QL replaced it, no cost, on the strength of an emailed photo. I didn't have a damper. I use "knock off" versions on my bicycle and the real one on my motorbike. I've crashed loads of times. The case and mount has been rock solid.
Honest the phone cases are not that great of quality mine started failing 6 months they sent me a replacement after some hassle, new one started falling apart but I like the hold taked some time to get used to especially with the charger
I have ZERO use for my phone on my bike. I ride to get away from my phone! Same in my car. Leave a message after the beep, I'll call you back when I stop.
Quadlock. Good but not perfect. I have broken two Samsung S10 screens, primarily due the Samsung edge screen swipe function. I have lost my phone twice whilst on a cycle mount (roadbike not MTB). The spares are available but not all are advertised and are expensive. My recommendation is a big yes overall. Shame they regularly needs to discount 30% which means generally they are ripping us off.
The biggest con for me is that you can't remove your phone from the mount with one hand. This is super annoying if you are riding and you want to remove your phone and put it in your pocket. I switched to the Peak Design mount which is super easy to mount and remove it with just one hand and holds just as good as the Quad Lock.
I tried a knock-off product. It wasn’t smooth on/off connection the way the Quad Lock is. The phone fell off once because I didn’t get it properly seated. Those problems are gone with the Quad Lock! Super easy, super secure. As always, you get what you pay for.
anyone looking to buy the this for anything other than a motorcycle isnt locked into the case they sell stick on adaptors if you dont mind a little extra bulk, but please dont trust the adhesive if your going to be using it on your motorcycle/dirtbike
The Chinese knock offs are exactly the same thing but at 1/10th the cost… sure you have a “backing mount” that uses adhesive…big deal… and the knock offs come with the “dampener”… how well do they hold up… took my Tuareg on some nasty Florida single track… the knock off mount worked just fine…no damage, no broken or fatigued parts and best of all no lost phone….
I'm not a fan of the quadlock , I'm on my second one ( the first was replaced by quadlock ) the blue part wears and then they rattle about , once they start to rattle they will easily pop the phone of ( I found this out a few times riding in the himalayas earlier this year ) for the price id just buy the Chinese copy off ebay
Just bought quadlock and phone is already broken - cameras and screen. During the rides, and small jumps, lock just doesn’t hold and fails all the time. Total disappointment
Good but overpriced. Bought Quadlock(mount only) 4 years ago and been using it but i upgraded my phone. I want a wireless charger and couldn’t justify the cost of the wireless port and new case. Quadlock was good back then because it had the first company advantage in business. Now there are many all in 1 wireless charger that costs 1/3 of what quadlock is and do the same thing. They need to step up their shit or otherwise lose straight up the market.

Now your KTM will need an ECU remap since you modified it.
‘Unscheduled dismount’ 😂
Just bought quadlock and phone is already broken - cameras and screen.
During the rides, and small jumps, lock just doesn’t hold and fails all the time.
Total disappointment
German torque!
