I have about 50 of these to cut up yet that I got when I had a plumber on my route. He was great for these plus water heaters, pressure tanks and sinkerators but those are mainly aluminum wire but they are fast to clean so i still do it. when the scrap prices went back up he started doing it himself again. hopefully he calls me back when prices go back down, I don't mind separating and holding during market crashes as long as the scrap is free.

The oil is usually a special 'Transformer oil' it has insulating properties and is immiscible with water. Nasty stuff, always wear protective gloves. Stay safe. Great video.
@@scrapitall200 I will find out , the yard wont buy em as is. they told me they could go in with the steel last time I took some in , they stayed in the truck lol. I took em back to the dump , now I see how easy it is to clean em up , I kinda regret that lol
@@scrapitall200 for sure. I work with septic systems and advanced wastewater treatment systems every day and get a few of these a week. Was taking them as a whole and getting electric motor price for them. Took one apart and it was quite a bit of effort without having some tools available. My copper is fake, aluminum I think. So I don’t think it’s worth it at that point. What do you think?

The majority of the weight is cast iron, I’m just happy it was copper and not aluminum lol. I don’t remember but whatever I showed in the video is correct, I always make sure my numbers are accurate. Thank you for watching.

I'm not a 100% sure what type of oil it would be, but some research suggests it could be type 32 hydraulic oil, which is mineral oil-based.

The Impeller and Bushing Should be Brass..All the one's I took apart over 38 yrs in Maint. at the company i work for was Brass.
