You should update your ftp on Zwift by doing The Climb, a ramp test, or a 20-minute full effort. 243 FTP is way too low FTP for someone who could push 3.4 w/lkg for 20 min. 3.4 x 79 = 268.6*.95 = 255.17. Your ftp for this race was 255.17 and you were not going full gas. Your FTP is likely to be close to 270
Good shout and funny you should mention this as my FTP got auto increased to 255 after this race. I’ll do a proper FTP test soon to get a more accurate reading as I do feel like I’ve progressed- I’d be happy with 270 👍🏻
Hahaha 🤣 I was waiting for that lol! Thanks mate, appreciate that - definitely happy with the progress, couple more weeks full on training and I’ll see if I can place well in ZRL 👍🏻
That actually happened to me in my very first zwift race. I had not done a proper FTP test before and Zwift told me I was a Cat C rider. First race I did like 3.4 Watts/KG average, got disqualified and instantly promoted to B. Since then I am a mid pack B rider, too good for C but not a chance to win in B.
B is such a tough category mate, I reckon I’d struggle with mid-pack pace now following the CE limit changes.. I’m going to give it a go next week though 👍🏻
The only thing I understand is I don't understand how all this works! lol I just thought it was if you're over 3.2wkg and you do that over a few consecutive races then you got promoted. A DQ but not getting upgraded is basically Zwift saying "yeah you've been naughty but we won't kick you out of our party yet" lol Great to see your fitness coming along Ollie!
Haha thanks mate! I love that - I’ve been naughty but I’ve not been kicked out of the party 😂😂 I don’t understand it either mate - just glad the fitness is pretty much there ready for ZRL, I’m still crossing my fingers we’ll be in the same league 😀 have a great weekend mate 👍🏻

Is This a reason to be Desqualified? I thought Twist doesn't the Cat selection and you ride following that cat enforced. If you push more for whatever reason, they can upgrade you but not disqualify you... I don't get it
Thanks mate, that’s kind of you to say 👍🏻 I’m definitely not far off B, I’ll hopefully get involved in a B race soon as I want to see what the difference is like although Zwift Racing Score is due imminently 👍🏻
Hi mate like someone else said you’re probably getting stronger and soon be up at B cat anyway so take it as a positive mate You rode the race well there sat in for first half then took it to the others good tactics, and it was a podium so take that great racing glad to see you back stronger 👍🫡
Hi mate, thanks very much 👍🏻 It was good to see you there after the race had finished! I’ll definitely take the positives and will try a B race next week to see if I’m ready for that 👍🏻 You had a great race too, 4wkg for 20 is class mate, looking forward to seeing you smash ZRL soon!
Speaking as someone who has created a few Zwift races, it's easy to accidentally enable the WKG DQ in the event settings (I have done it, and gone back and corrected it) so my first question is whether they actually intended to do that. It's possible that it was an automated mistake. In CE races it should not be used because it can result in DQing riders who remain in the same category which is silly. That DQ code is left over from before CE existed. So talk to the organiser and they might sort it out for several people who should not have been DQ. If they did mean to do it then I would avoid their races unless you just want a training ride and don't care.
Thanks Paul, really interesting, I’ll ask the question I think because it’s strange how some of the riders got the WKG DQ and others with similar or higher power didn’t. It could have been an honest mistake though, I’ll find out 👍🏻
Cracking racing mate. The training is really paying off! I don't think you deserved to be DQ'd, hopefully you can contact the race organiser and get them to sort it out, or at least explain why🤞
Thanks mate 👍🏻 hope you’re all good mate and are going to be racing this winter 👍🏻 yeah it was a bit weird, I think someone possibly didn’t like the attacks, I’ll message tomorrow and see if I can get to the bottom of it 👍🏻
Completely justified. It's not debatable. It's just numbers. You ride in a terrible way from a tactical perspective and thus you ended up pushing the most 20 min. w/kg in the race, above the threshold.
Yeah I was disappointed I wasn’t able to win this one - just confused as to why some of the others who had a higher wkg in the race also didn’t get DQ’d? Have a look at the INOX rider…
I don't think that's really DQ-worthy. But, it is a signal you need to step yourself up to CAT B, mate. You'll make more progress there with deeper, longer efforts!
Ridiculous, nothing wrong with your numbers and if you were over the cat threshold you’d have been upgraded to B? I’ve been beaten recently in C races by average watts of 3.6/3.7 per kg and the results stood on Zwift Power? It’s the lack of consistency that’s confusing and annoying. I kinda miss the old cone of shame that used to appear in crit city races!
Ahh the cone of shame! That brings back memories- used to make me laugh so much seeing that pop up in the old crit races 😂 You’re absolutely right Andrew, crazy how some C races you get the odd 3.6wkg and others 3.2 is too much, no consistency at all!
Don't worry too much about it, keep plugging away and eventually you'll want to go to Cat B anyway. I'm middle of the pack cat b so maybe I'll race ya!
Thanks mate, just took me a bit by surprise as I didn’t feel like I was out of place racing with that group. Yeah you’re right, hopefully I’ll get to b soon and would be great to race together 👍🏻
I had the same once I was C and I went to B if I am not wrong, it's when you do more than 3 races over the category power. So you should be B now?😀 You're still in the fun zone. I am trying everything to get demoted from A, it doesn't work 🤣I am at the bottom of A
Mate you’re a very strong athlete though! I will definitely try a B race next week to see where I place, hopefully I’ll be able to hang on but I guess the good news is that the fitness is improving 💪🏻👍🏻
Well done Nothing wrong with that race. While it's up the organiser how they want to apply their rules this is more a legacy setting not working well with CE. WKG is applying DQ on your 95% 20 min power based on old ZP power bands. Organiser really should be disabling that setting as if you qualify to enter a CE event there is no reason to DQ you. It quite often gets set again for new events though as it's the default on ZP. More than likely the organiser would update the event if you give them a nudge. italian based team so probably all snoozing at this time of night. i'd try message them tomorrow.
Thanks mate, glad you agree 👍🏻 Yeah that makes sense, it did feel like it wasn’t aligned to the new CE. I’ll definitely give them a nudge tomorrow like you say and hopefully they’ll be able to have a look at it. Bit strange though how the INOX guy didn’t get DQ’d and it looked like he had the same happen to him - think he was at 3.3wkg 👍🏻
@@notpogiit’s based on 20 mins power you were at 3.4 and with 3 others that got DQ. I think there was one other at 3.4 but was slightly lower. You would need to looks at their raw watts to figure out exactly their w/kg aa it was probably rounded up to 3.4
It's not pure w/kg it's analysing your entire effort to predict your power curve. It thinks your ftp is too much for that category so it may have looked at your shirt bursts and think you could have held your power for a longer duration. Take it as the trainings working and start to move up. Zwift power seems a bit more strict than zwifts in built category enforcement
