Love the Orbit sprinklers! Picked up one, then had to go back the next day for a few more. Do you leave the hoses in place or move them periodically to avoid leaving marks?
Buy color matched hoses and run either in garden beds (brown hose) or alongside the concrete (green hose). I install all in spring and never move till 1st frost. 12 Melnor turbo heads on spikes on 4 zones. Cheers
I have a few setup around the edge of my landscaping that i can leave in place, buried the hoses under a little mulch, have setup to a automatic timer. Works really well for the size/shape of my yard. Haven't yet decided if I want to pull them up for the winter or just disconnect the lines and leave in place. Good DIY solution without breaking the bank for me.
I have some MP rotators that don't really put any water down close to themselves. For that reason I consider anything less than head-to-head coverage as undercovered.
Nice video. Sprinkler coverage will be better if head-to-head. This way you avoid the dry spots 1-2 feet away right next to the sprinkler. You can also connect the rotary ones inline. I have 12 Melnor on 4 zones and cover 6000sqf (2 completely different sections) of a very irregular yard. Cheers
I’ve done a diy system for even less in two areas of my back yard. I’ve placed Melnor rotors on spikes in my garden beds that surround my yard attached to in series garden hoses buried under mulch and use a similar timer. I though that a permanent system would cause too many problems until my sister told me that she’s had her Hunter system for twenty years without a problem. I have no regrets so far. I have it for five years without incident save for the timer.
Orbit has a 6 year warranty on some of their timers. You should contact them to see if yours is covered. I use the one shown in the video and Orbit replaced it for me after 4 years of service.
Jake, How do cover the grass between your walkway and the street. I hate losing water to the walkway that ends up inthe street. My walkway is sloped to the driveway where the water flows off the walkway.
You should try the Orbit 58322 traveling sprinkler on SLOW. One hose and nearly perfect uniformity. With smart placement and tuning the arms, I think it will cover that area nicely. It's good experience either way. I do a 4500' area a few times a week with mine. See my test on it. Good luck.
Good video man! I just posted a video on my channel a few days ago about my DIY sprinkler system I use. I use the spike rotor and an older model “Big Sprinkler”. I’m liking that timer you are using, I’ll need to check more into that. Thanks bro
Hey jake before i wired my sprinklers system i used to water my lawn twice a week and deep my lawn looked like crap.. now i have them at 10 min for about 5 days a week But now have then set at 5:30 in the morning and is very hot out here in southern California And the grass is looking for good!!!Should i cut back on watering?????
While the grass may look great, watering 5 days a week is NOT good. What'll happen overtime is your roots become adapted to shallow waterings that they'll remains just below the surface. Not good. As opposed to watering 2-3x/1 week where you're watering soil deep and letting the lawn dry out in between waterings. Doing so will encourage deeper root growth and cut back on fungus.
I use the gear driven sprinklers with the Orbit b-hyve wifi watering system. It works great so far. Can water from work if I want. I have a video of it on my channel. Great video!

I roll them up in between watering days. That's what I really like about this setup is the simplicity.

You are the sprinkler master!
Great job Kid!

I like the black hoses Home Depot sells that are made by continental tire. They are great.
yes... try zoro 38 bucks for 100ft and I cut them. put my brass fitting on and BOOM custom hoses

Very impressive young man!
You're on point bro.

I like this one
I'm a big fan of the Orbits, they're cheap and pretty customizable. Also don't take much water pressure.
great tips! Thanks!
Your hair is lit. Love the video
Menards had those gear drive sprinklers on sale early this year, picked up (3) and no complaints so far ... good stuff!
will the orbit work for a small ,600 sq ft yard ?
Great Video Jake!! per usual :)
Great video. I am going to set up like this. I like the orbit better. Btw What kind of specs sun glasses are those.
Those orbit ones seem kinda cool. Dang. maybe I need to make a quick video on my set up. Good stuff Jake!

Not my first choice for this small of a lawn. But, We use this type of sprinkler to cover an area of one of my project lawns. Stay tuned!
How does one spigot have enough pressure to power 4 sprinklers?
That Teal and Orange though!!
I know this is an old video, but what did you do to water in the side yard? that is the area I have the most trouble
I really like the melnor sprinklers I mentioned in this video... ua-cam.com/video/w6gDkUBOKPY/v-deo.htmlsi=zYMVTJ6IryMPEbTT
Nice video Jake! Seems very simple for any homeowner to put together.

Another great video Jake! 👍🏼👍🏼

It's mid-winter in Australia now, the grass dormant and it's cold and pissing down rain.

Jake have you ever thought of doing a short spray every afternoon just to cool the lawn down a bit in between waterings?
Anyone know how these compare to the rainbird equivalent? I've heard good and bad about both reading amazon reviews
Jake ur doing an awesome job. Keep up the good work dominating!
Waterproof phones?
What about water pressure??
Good concept, but a point that should be made is that you should aim for 200%, or head to head coverage or you’ll end up with brown spots.
Do you have a sprinkler system or you drag the hose all the time?
The only solution is more cow bell!!!!
The only prescription? More cowbell
First!
Man you have some weak water pressure, barely looks like any water is coming out.
the breh is so annoying jake
Thank you for your feedback bruh!
