Can you do the opposite of that one texture pack, so every block is a solid colour and a 16x16 square of one block ends up showing the texture?
That's unfortunately impossible due to the way minecraft renders textures. But man that'd be cool.
Most game engines DO allow that though, it's called texture scaling. Source engine maps can do this, and it's a very useful effect in "Cube 2 Sauerbraten".
idk about vanilla using just resource packs, but it is definitely possible with mods (e.g. there is a "big fan" block from chisel which needs to be in a 3x3 to show the whole texture)
There's probably some trickery that could be done with placing detection and armor stand calculations to hide the original texture with the appropriate color though.
this can be done with shaders. i believe seus ptgi does it if your resource pack has the texures
@@St0ner1995 oh yeah, shaders can receive world coordinate for textures, making this perfectly possible.
you can scale all textures to 1x1, but doing that thing specifically is probably not possible, you're better off using mods
