Flamingo Land Resort is a theme park in Yorkshire, UK. It opened back in 1959 as the Yorkshire Zoological Gardens with just the zoo aspect, now it is a theme park and zoo, boosting unique rides like Velocity, Kumali and more. This is the History of the Flamingo Land Resort, Yorkshire. All information is from wikipedia and I am aware some things may not be quite right, I can only apologise.

Brilliant video we've been going to flamingoland every year since 2005 and watching that sure brought back a lot of memories. We stay 5 mins away from Scotland's sorry excuse for a theme park M&D's and wouldn't waste money taking my kids there, thanks for this video I'll be showing it to all the people I know that don't believe how good a park it is, thanks again 😀😀😀

I'm nine years old and so far I have been on 8 holidays and when I went to Flamingo land I cried

Makenzie C06 they’re meant to be getting a 10 inversion intamin from Hopi Hari this year that’s why they cleared the land next to velocity

you should do some top tens where you say the best closed rides in each theme park etc: flamingo land-wild mouse, corkscrew, magnum force
I remember there was a scary walk through ride here im sure it was called bloombergs but can't find any info and was very young at the time :( i remember a lift being involved and a cut show of a man telling people not to come down
Yea i worked on it, im trying to find more info about it. Was a lot of fun and pretty scary if us actors put the effort in. you were chased out into the pub by a chanisaw man at the end
9:20 is eerie, the bird flying past the new Pterodactyl ride looks like a human falling out…
What we learned from this video:
1. Flamingo Land loves removing multiple rides in the same year. They removed Magnum Force and the Bullet in the same year. Two major thrill coasters!
2. Flamingo Land likes to bulk buy from manufacturers. When they worked with Vekoma for Velocity, they also bought Kumali the next year, also by Vekoma. Then I’m 2011 they added 3 Zamperla rides 3 years in a row!
3. Flamingo Land is a great park and we love it
Haunted House was there in 1999 as that is the last time I’ve been to Flamingo Land and I remember the man in Scream costume jumping into our lift!

No sadly it shut down I think and may be a new ride

Sidney Tilley corkscrew was a rust bucket, one of my first roller coasters I went on but looked an eyesore

Wagon Wheel opened in 2005??? That would have made me 21 and I can clearly remember being sat on them for about 15 minutes as a child thinking this is the most boring ride ever to be made....still interesting tho

Gayle Robinson I agree I remember going on these as far back as 1997 at least, probably longer. They used to be over near the polar bear and chip enclosures

if you go to flamingo land now there is a new ride being built, it is a big red and yellow one that dose a few loops and is next to velocity
Me in the future: there is no wooden coaster unfortunately, that would have been cool :( but there is an awesome wooden coaster at Alton Towers called Wicker Man and there is now an amazing steel coaster called Sik at Flamingo Land, which I went on for the first time today! I went to a lot of rollercoasters and big rides for the first time today (all of them were at Flamingo Land) :D
Also I used to be called "Henry Gray" on a different account and I watched the channel a lot a few years ago when I was a kid. Huge fan of you Callum! I miss you. 🥲🥲🥲

This park is very good for going cheap on coasters, i think this parks next coaster will be a gravity group looping coaster or one vekoma's new coaster designs. (2018 or 2019)

I don’t think flip flop opened until the splosh area opened as it’s the same design etc I can remember it not being there and I was very young when I used to go to flamingoland. Was definitely not there before Kumali.

The dinosaur eggs are a different ride to a wild mouse as it smaller and a spinning coaster not a wild mouse coaster

The first time I went there as a child, I was wanting to go on the wild mouse but when I got there, it was closed and the hero was being built however recently I had the chance to go back to see what replaced that coaster and it’s actually really fricking good

Another FANTASTIC history video! Flamingo Land is such an under rated theme park! Are you by chance park of RCCGB? If not, I would totally recommend it. It's an online forum that includes a monthly theme park/coaster online newspaper, theme park trips and online forum where you can post anything about theme parks! (E.G: Did you know that Lakeside shopping centre in Essex could be building a Nickelodeon theme park like the one in Mall Of America?) Keep up with the great history videos! Wacky races was actually called Vintage cars at first and were in the area where kumali now stands and originally from 1993 Tidal wave was called waikiki wave it wasnt until 2003 it became tidal wave

Tidal wave was originally called Waikiki wave when first opened and changed name a few years later

I have only been once, it is a decent park. Definitely one of the better non-Merlin parks in the UK!
Flamingo land will not be getting a new ride due to them wanting to expand on the family side of things at the park. This means that they are more than likely to get a family flat or coaster at the park

Went here in 2001 or 2002? It was great , we got a big static caravan and stayed for a few days. Went on that triple looper shit load of times. Great days
My favourite coaster at this park is Mumbo jumbo it's so cool

I remember driving a Sinclair C5 at FlamingoLand in the mid 80s as a teenager.
Awesome, how times have changed. I can imagine the park would have been quite different in the 80s.
The huge wooden fort was there that I spent hours running around (You can see it in the back of one of the rollercoaster scenes in your video!) and there was a Death Slide too. A vertical drop of about 20feet that you just slid down vertically on your arse. Health & Safety probably banned that
The song "You Spin Me Round" by Dead or Alive had just got to No1 in the charts that day. It was a sunday in Feb or March 1985 and we listened to it on the way home (head-banging like the Jim Carrey What Is Love viral video lol)
That's a great song, even to this day!

Flamingo Land need to do a full clean down of the rides and park in general. Kumali, mumbo jumbo and cliffhanger are all examples of what were good looking rides that are now grimy and dirty

Flip Flop was 2007. When i went flamingo land in 2003 Klondike Creek was still in its place at the time. Splosh wasnt even built yet.
Again, according to the information I was looking at, Flip Flop opened in 2002!
But, you're slightly right. It opened in 2008, after Splosh opened. Sorry about that.

Corkscrew Was actually 1983 as it was originally at Whitley Bay Spainish City from 1980-1982. it was built at Flamingo land a year later.
According to the information I was looking at, Corkscrew operated at Spanish City between 1983 and 1989 and was moved to Flamingo Land in 1990! I don't know how much of this is true however!

Theme Park Callum its like when i researched about the Taron and Raik at Phantasia Land they had opened 30th june 2016 which was from the database website.
Happy days ...started going with family in 83.......seen some changes........however who remembers the chimpanzee escaping and terrorizing the caravan park....some pour woman was trapped in a telephone box when the were outside....scary hey....or when the hurricane swept across England.....
