Worked there with my husband in late 80's. All staff looked forward to hearing those words "The laughing man's gone off. " Which happened 30 minutes before the park closed. So many happy memories.
I live in Blackpool and love the Pleasure Beach!! My Nanna works there so me and my family get to go to the Pleasure Beach and the ice show for free every time❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️xxx
I miss the wild mouse I last rode it in September 2015 and every time I went after September 2015 it was closed so rest in peace wild mouse 1958-2017 😢

Love this, thanks. Brought back so many memories as someone who has lived in Blackpool since birth and now my daughter works there. I didn't realise some of these rides were so old.
I used to live in Blackpool and used to get so excited when we were walking to it and could see the big dipper ride. It brings back so many memories there a
Being a scouser I miss the old southport pleasure land with the trauma tizer & the cyclone wasn't quite pleasure beach but was always a great day in there summer and is better than what's there now
Traumatizer was relocated to Blackpool Pleasure Beach from Pleasureland Southport and you can still come on Blackpool Pleasure Beach ride and is renamed to infusion
I used to love having stockingfeet in the famous Funhouse. It was my favourite amusement in Blackpool and the Pleasure Beach has not been the same since it burned down and not rebuilt.
Very good vid there - I remember going there every year as a child and working there in thelate 70's. One thing you failed to mention was that Doris Thomson went on every new ride even at her age
Red Hulk40 it extremely old. It also took you in the behind the scenes area which doesn't look as nice as the other areas of the park. It also had a low number of riders and the ride also needed a lot of maintenance
A shame the Monorail, Log Flume, and Cable Cars are gone. Even the Reel. Don't know about the Gold Mine. Noah's Ark is just a decoration today. Lots of smelly feet kids and adults in the Funhouse before it was destroyed by fire, where everyone had to take their shoes off. Don't think there will ever be a new Funhouse.
Very interesting, thanks. I used to love going to Blackpool as a kid, and I loved the Pleasure Beach, also the fairs at Southport and Morecambe. I have a strong memory of riding on the reel, which was great. I guess that must have been a long time ago. I have not been there for years.
I thought the Spin Doctor was a great thrill ride, really took your breath away. First went on it in 2005 then returned a couple of years later to find it had gone...damn shame.
So I have been here 8 times in my life. The last time I went, I was too small for the big rides but too big for the baby rides. I have not been for almost 4 years and I am going in 5 days! I am so excited for icon!
Very well researched and constructed video.......A cousin of my late mums was musical director at the Ice Show back in the sixties.....He resided at BIspham.. Truely a wonderful place of entertainment,
I've always loved going here but went last year and it's just got a totally different feel to the park now. everything just seems crammed in and having to pay an entrance fee just for walking around is a joke. we took a disabled child who could not go on anything and was confined to his pushchair and they still charged us
Robbie Crosbie Yeah but now the park isn't free entry anymore it will probably feel safer. And nowadays there's more trouble on the streets than there was back then
Robbie Crosbie maybe it should be free for the disabled and old folk. but , i 100% agree with the £6 charge even if you dont want to ride. cuts out the riff raff , chavs and yobs. far safer enviroment. watch the beginning of lost boys and that is what you would get knowadays if it werent for the basic charge. think about , it is not a gyp....travelling fair.
My whole family used to go down to Blackpool every year in October ish time, pleasure beach was the best time. I’m still sad I was too small to ride space invader but I managed to ride wild mice that small rage thing before it was gone
@@maxcruickshank2713 sometimes i feel like avalanche/nickelodeon streak should've been the one to shut issues were indeed present, but i do wonder why people would queue up for 2 hours for a ride that lasts >30 seconds. Don’t lie. Geoffrey Thompson likes Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point and wanted an Arrow Hyper like it, that’s why we have The Big One Sponsored by Pepsi Max. A real fun fact you should’ve said is that the track and supports for The Big One we’re stored at Blackpool Airport before being transferred to BPB
Some of these rides can be downloaded & ridden for nostalgia on the game 'planet coaster' PS5....(all dlc needs downloading too)....the ghost-train, river caves,Alice in wonderland, big dipper, gold mine even the log flume is there...... arthurperno 2 has videos on youtube and is same name on the game to subscribe to...he's done a great job!!!
1922 was a great year with the opening of the Reel (I don't ever remember seeing the word 'Virginia' used in the signage) and Noah's Ark. Back in the '70s when I was a kid, and the likes of the Gnash and Dipper looked too terrifying to countenance, these were my very two favourites on the Plesh. Even now, in my 50s, I miss them both.
Pleasure beach isnt one of the best theme parks but its one of the oldest one of the most legendary theme parks i hope it stays for hundreds of years to come
There are a great selection of rollercoasters there including the classics and the UK's tallest rollercoaster, The Big One. I would say try to brave them all, depending how busy it is! I hope you enjoy your visit!
