- Blackpool Pleasure Beach was founded back in 1896, making it 120 years old this year. So, sit back and watch this video, taking over 100 years of History down to less than 20 minutes. The Thompson family have owned the Pleasure Beach for decades now and there have been many iconic ride installations including The Big One, Valhalla and many more!

Worked there with my husband in late 80's. All staff looked forward to hearing those words "The laughing man's gone off. " Which happened 30 minutes before the park closed. So many happy memories.
Must of been happy when someone said that
R.I.P Wild Mouse 1958-2017

Love this, thanks. Brought back so many memories as someone who has lived in Blackpool since birth and now my daughter works there. I didn't realise some of these rides were so old.
Not a problem, thank you very much for watching!
Brilliant video, thank you for putting this together. Great music too!

This Theme Park Blackpool Pleasure Beach Was Opened In 1896. It Was 120 Years Old Last Year. Thanks Callum. X
Most interesting! Very informative. " Long live Blackpool Pleasure Beach"
brian maguire true
Very interesting, thanks. I used to love going to Blackpool as a kid, and I loved the Pleasure Beach, also the fairs at Southport and Morecambe. I have a strong memory of riding on the reel, which was great. I guess that must have been a long time ago. I have not been there for years.
Very good vid there - I remember going there every year as a child and working there in thelate 70's. One thing you failed to mention was that Doris Thomson went on every new ride even at her age
Thank you. I was aware that she did go on some of the rides when they opened, didn't know that she went on all. She was obviously a brave lady!
Being a scouser I miss the old southport pleasure land with the trauma tizer & the cyclone wasn't quite pleasure beach but was always a great day in there summer and is better than what's there now
Is Pleasureland Southport closed
Traumatizer was relocated to Blackpool Pleasure Beach from Pleasureland Southport and you can still come on Blackpool Pleasure Beach ride and is renamed to infusion
thank you for the memories young man I remember spending many a happy hour in the 70s and 80s on the pleasure beach
No problem. It must bring back so many memories, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a classic park! Thank you for watching!
I used to live in Blackpool and used to get so excited when we were walking to it and could see the big dipper ride. It brings back so many memories there a

Thanks for the vid!
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching!
I used to love having stockingfeet in the famous Funhouse. It was my favourite amusement in Blackpool and the Pleasure Beach has not been the same since it burned down and not rebuilt.
So I have been here 8 times in my life. The last time I went, I was too small for the big rides but too big for the baby rides. I have not been for almost 4 years and I am going in 5 days! I am so excited for icon!
This theme park is just a classic

Going there for my birthday in a weeks time and this video was very informative about the history, thanks!
Thank you very much, I hope you have a great birthday and enjoy your visit!
Theme Park Callum Thanks a lot!
I thought the Spin Doctor was a great thrill ride, really took your breath away. First went on it in 2005 then returned a couple of years later to find it had gone...damn shame.
At 9:31 as soon as I heard the music I knew it was Valhalla!
xX LonelyPotato Xx same ahaha
Project 2018 = ICON
Great video the best series you produce here on TPC keep the good work up and what history video could we see next cheers 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Thank you, I really do appreciate that! I am not sure what will come next, but it will be coming soon!
+Theme Park Callum Also well done on 15k views
Cant believe The Big Dipper still running after 100 years its had 3 or more generations maybe ride it.
I hope the park gives it a special place.
1922 was a great year with the opening of the Reel (I don't ever remember seeing the word 'Virginia' used in the signage) and Noah's Ark.
Back in the '70s when I was a kid, and the likes of the Gnash and Dipper looked too terrifying to countenance, these were my very two favourites on the Plesh.
Even now, in my 50s, I miss them both.
R.I.P. Monorail 1967-2012
Love your video
I went a few days ago and it was great! RA Sky force, Valhalla and Revolution are my personal favourites :p
Wow the fun house closed spent many a happy hour in there in the 50 s blackpool pleasure beach lots of childhood memories!
And of course, the new ride is ICON!!!
I love the photo compilation at the end
fantastic video well done
Thank you very much!
Yeah
wow! Never realised so many current rides were opened so long ago. Looking forward to the new addition in 2018
I know, there are some classics at Blackpool Pleasure Beach!
Very interesting video!
Very well researched and constructed video.......A cousin of my late mums was musical director at the Ice Show back in the sixties.....He resided at BIspham.. Truely a wonderful place of entertainment,
Thank you David. That's a great bit of history right there, thank you for sharing!
Callus hope you had a great xmas and new year bring on 2o18 4 u
Guessing project 2018 is Icon. I have only been to the pleasure beach once (yesterday) and I wanted to see the history :)
BPB should install a new monorail!
It would be nice!
I know the big one is getting outdated
Coasterfan3657 No thry shouldn’t.
YeetoCheeto No it isn’t you hater.
@@ThemeParkCallum ive been on it
Valhalla is the best ride I have ever been on
ayy fellow valhalla lover
yea it's absolutely incredible
what do you use to make the history videos?

R.I.P. The Greatest Show On Earth 1990-1997
I like the first song. 👌
Amazing video 😊
Thank you, I really appreciate that!
+Theme Park Callum your welcome is great to know the history of places before going 😀
why did they close the Monorail? big mistake I loved it, also loved the log flume, gold mine, cable cars.
Red Hulk40 it extremely old. It also took you in the behind the scenes area which doesn't look as nice as the other areas of the park. It also had a low number of riders and the ride also needed a lot of maintenance
A shame the Monorail, Log Flume, and Cable Cars are gone. Even the Reel. Don't know about the Gold Mine. Noah's Ark is just a decoration today. Lots of smelly feet kids and adults in the Funhouse before it was destroyed by fire, where everyone had to take their shoes off. Don't think there will ever be a new Funhouse.
They taken out lots of the classic rides ....
Cos Pleasure Beach is so short on land
Red Hulk40 well they needed room for over stuff and yeah the cable cars were pretty cool but you also have pleasure beach express
THE RIDES the shows the fun the thrills the joy the sprit the agency specifically
My whole family used to go down to Blackpool every year in October ish time, pleasure beach was the best time. I’m still sad I was too small to ride space invader but I managed to ride wild mice that small rage thing before it was gone
ICON 👌
fantastic park,,many a great time over my life
It sure is!
This video was very interesting and I love most of the rides there
Thank you, so do I.
+Theme Park Callum if you could choose a ride to go on all the time, what will it be? And are u curious about the new ride for 2018
If you're talking about a ride at Pleasure Beach, I would say Valhalla. I am excited about the new ride and curious at the same time!
I know. My fave ride is the big one or infusion.
Theme Park Callum hi Callum can't wait to go on Valhalla in summer for late night riding
I first went to the park in 1959 as a young kid about 4 I loved it until all the rides that I loved closed
In case u didnt know project 2018 is gonna be called ICON
TRAIN SPOTTING I knew that
0:56 love the song

Thank you very much Mark!
+Theme Park Callum I've shared it on FB & Twitter :)
I really appreciate that! It is a fantastic park, with some amazing History!
:)
They've still only built the foundations of Icon, the 2018 ride. They'd better hurry up and build it..
I believe that track will be delivered later this year (around October/November) and after that, it will go up quite quickly!
Jessicatzen Really? Because I have been on Icon.
SooohoTHoohououoohoxxohoMoLoohioho I have a great weekend

What was the music called for 17:07 to the end of the video?
The song is on UA-cam. Type in "Blackpool Pleasure beach theme song" in the search box and you will find it. The UA-cam channels name is "alanm4072
" . The song was used in their TV advert campaign and was played around the park during 2005 - 2009 i think?

Some of these rides can be downloaded & ridden for nostalgia on the game 'planet coaster' PS5....(all dlc needs downloading too)....the ghost-train, river caves,Alice in wonderland, big dipper, gold mine even the log flume is there...... arthurperno 2 has videos on youtube and is same name on the game to subscribe to...he's done a great job!!!
i'm going to Blackpool on Monday and going to the pleasure beach on Wednesday. Any tips on what roller coasters to go on.
There are a great selection of rollercoasters there including the classics and the UK's tallest rollercoaster, The Big One. I would say try to brave them all, depending how busy it is! I hope you enjoy your visit!
thanks for the ideas, i'm going to try and see if i can manage all off them with the time i have.
What was the last song?
It is one of the classic theme parks
4:55 Wild Mouse has now closed :'(
The Avalanche is still open like Big Dipper, Nickelodeon Sreak
@@maxcruickshank2713 sometimes i feel like avalanche/nickelodeon streak should've been the one to shut
issues were indeed present, but i do wonder why people would queue up for 2 hours for a ride that lasts >30 seconds. (would like to compare it to valhalla - a ride that lasts about 6 minutes (*cough cough* valhalla enthusiast *cough cough*))
i feel like the wild mouse should've stayed because it's a classic, y'know? a back-breaking pain but,, still loved.
Old but gold
Why did pleasure beach install a slc?
as removed from southport when it closed, when new not such an earbasher, and fitted in southport ok, think should of sold to another park, looks nice thats it.dont ride it now.
13:14 - Should've Gotten A B&M
Damo Coaster i actually have a piece of red steel from it. i found it at S. pleasureland today
Damo Coaster! It was theirs all along.
No it wasn’t. It was at Southport Pleasureland which at the time was owned by the Thompson family (they also own BPB) but when the park closed in 2006, Traumatizer (The SLC) was relocated to BPB. When Southport reopened the site of Traumatizer was left empty.
R.I.P. Drench Falls Log Flume 1967-2006
Love the history of thus park, Loved the original log flume. Not many left in the UK.
It has got some great history!
Fun fact Pepsi max big one was originally offered to great Yarmouth pleasure beach but they denied so it got sent to Blackpool
wow
That is complete BS, I hope you are being sarcastic 😂
But why would they not want it? It would've attracted loads of visitors. Never mind tho, because I love Blackpool and the pleasure beach.
Vexxed You shouldn’t tell lies.
Don’t lie. Geoffrey Thompson likes Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point and wanted an Arrow Hyper like it, that’s why we have The Big One Sponsored by Pepsi Max. A real fun fact you should’ve said is that the track and supports for The Big One we’re stored at Blackpool Airport before being transferred to BPB
Can you tell me all the song names in order?
