Just found your video... such nostalgia! We had a caravan there from 1977 - about 1990. I worked on the fair, before Flamingoland became a theme park! (I worked on the Hook-a-Duck stall, from age 11!!! Back in the day when we didn't have laws, lol). All we had for rides were; dodgems, about 7 stalls, helter skelter, 2 little roundabouts and a beautiful carousel. Oh, and the ghost train. My mum worked in the Pottery, which was in the old coach house up at the top of the zoo. That changed over time to be a craft centre, and I worked in there when I was 16+, and I engraved names on glasses and painted names on mugs for people. Eventually, they did away with that, as I guess it didn't make enough money. My favourite thing in the whole park was the Haunted Castle - when it was first built, there was evening entertainment, like dinner dances and shows. There was a haunted walk, in part of the castle, with full on scares, like the floor would just give way and be all squishy. Many a sprained ankle, I think! That building turned into a burger bar and then an amusement arcade, which was a bit sad. :/ Eventually, Robert Gibb decided to pull everything in house and do his own rides and attractions, and thus was born the Flamingoland we know today. The first major ride I remember was a full loop roller coaster, which blew us all away! (After the adrenalin rush of the dodgems and the helter skelter, you can imagine.... :D ). The main hall used to house bars and restaurants, and there was a Caravaners disco every Friday/Saturday nights. As a young teenager, I got up to much mischief in those years. I have so many stories of flamingoland, it was great watching your vid and bringing back memories! I'll just leave you with this one... I am a couple of years older than Robert Gibb... I think his sister is about my age. All I remember of him was that he was a really snotty little red-haired kid with a terrible attitude - he used to come into our gift shop and demand things because 'my dad owns all this'. We had to educate him that it didn't work like that. I laugh when I see how he turned out, and that he's running the place really well. :) Sorry for long ramble... got a bit distracted by memory lane there for a mo! :D

I have very vivid memories of that absolute bastard "terrorizer". When I first went on it back in the 90s. I was tall enough, but probably not as big as recommended. Lol. N I had to be pinned to the seat by my mum because I started slipping through the safety bars. 😭😭😭

Cuddles the orca was the only orca in England. He also killed a trainer at flamingoland hence why he was moved

Unfortunately flamingo land will not be building a new ride as they are expanding the park more towards the family side of things. Also they are wanting to build a smaller version of the park on the sea front of Scarborough and a hotel and spa next to loca Lomond in scotland. So they are also more than likely to build on where the hammer site was than anywhere else as the picnic area between little monster and Dino stone park will not because of the terrain. They are also more likely to expand the car park as it can get very busy in summer.

They are getting a new coaster and as well as all the things you said the owner now also bought a pub next to the park

Hi Aiden, Just watched your video - really interesting and I liked your presentation style / content a lot. (You should definitely make more videos like this!) We think Flamingo Land is under-rated, having loved going as a family ourselves between 2007 - 2011. Great memories.
