Raise your hand if you're planning a trip to Peru?! 🖐
Going 5 days salkantay trekking next month 🥰🥰
✋🏽
Which months did you visit Peru?
Going next month
As a solo female tourist, this was greatly helpful!

THANK YOU for the great packing tips and suggestions! Mahalo!
I've recently stumbled upon your videos and found them incredibly captivating. I'm looking forward to enjoying this particular one. Sending my best wishes and blessings your way!
That makes me so happy to hear. Thank you for your comment and enjoy this video. It's packed with plenty of info and tips for traveling to Peru.
Great video Kristen, well done and informative 😊❤
Thank you! Hope it comes in handy for you
Thanks for sharing this video 🙏🏽 I’m going there in a month, excited but nervous 😅😝
Such great tips, thank you for sharing!
You're very welcome! Hope it comes in handy
this was WAY helpful! thank you! going to Peru in October and so excited.
You’re very welcome! I have two video from my own trip last September you should check out to get you excited for your trip. Here’s the first ua-cam.com/video/3Q2kpWRhvGg/v-deo.htmlsi=f4_YzObmjIOu4W7Y and the second ua-cam.com/video/pwfiFq-Fua8/v-deo.htmlsi=0cycUQ-HqtFsCVRU
You mentioned about cash. Did you used the ATM but did go to a currency exchange store?
I always use the ATMs to take out money in the currency of the country I’m visiting. I also bring a bit of USD with me in case I need it because it’s typically accepted anywhere
Machu Picchu with Spirit Tours. Mom was from Peru. Visited several times with mom in my youth. Mostly Miraflores, but also Barranco, Callao. Never made it to Machu Picchu. Very excited!
How exciting! What a meaningful trip it's going to be. Peru is such a special place. I can only imagine what it would feel being from there. Pure magic. Have the best time ever!
glad i watched this! doing the peru trip with G Adventures in a month and i was wondering if i should pack with a suitcase or backpack. im not doing any of the trekking or trails, help a female solo traveler out ❤
I find wearing bulky items agreeable. I often just wear what's make me feel comfy but wearing those during the flight would indeed give more space.
My bulkiest tend to be the coziest haha
Excellent video, thank you very much.
You're very welcome
Thank you so much for all the great information, love it.
You're very welcome! Are you planning a trip to Peru?
@@hopscotchtheglobe No, I am not. I would love to go. Unfortunately I don't have the means but this helps me when I plan some trips to other states close by. Thank you again for all your advice.
You're so welcome!
Going in April
That's so exciting! Where will you be going? I have two other vlogs from my trip you can check out for inspiration:)
Ok I was so confused at one part, I didn't know if you said "I'll pack a sweater," or "alpaca sweater" lol but seriously I have a alpaca lined hoodie and it is the warmest thing I have ever worn in my life :)
Hahah that's hilarious!!! And yes they are so warm. One of my fav purchases from my travels for sure.
Great video! Im wondering what month did you go? I am going Peru on August
Definitely going in 2024, just need to nail down the dates
Yes! So exciting. Peru is really incredible. Have so much fun! And check out the other two vlogs I created from my recent trip.
@@hopscotchtheglobe Thanks! Will check those out. This is part of my pre-trip ritual of seeing videos of the destination before we go. 👍🏼👍🏼
Can you take altitude sickness medication before your flight to cusco?
have you done a most affordable central american country to visit yet? would love to know which options are best in terms of safety, things to do/eat, accomodation for a 1 week vacation
I think that's a great idea for a video. Already added it to our list of ones to film in the next couple of months!
What time did you go to cusco? What month do you recommend? Im having a hard time finding vlogs that tell me what part of the year they went. Loved the vlog!
I went at the end of September and the weather was perfect
Will my carry on work for Latam Airlines? overall: 15''L x 9''W x 21.2''H (38.6 x 22.8 x 53.8 cm)
It's best to look on the airlines website to see. I've never used a carry on that stands more than 21'' and I've never been refused on the MANY airlines I've traveled on. If you fly on low budget airlines that typically travel shorter distances, they sometimes want you to check your carry on. To avoid this, I would recommend the Nomad Lane Bento Bag which fits everything I typically put in my carry on but its considered a personal item, not carry on, so you'll never be refused. Here's the link to it (and you can get 10% off it using discount code KRISTEN10) nomadlane.com/?rfsn=7859365.a3ac409
Did you have any issues with baggage & carry-on for that LIM to CUZ flight? I was looking at tickets and it seems like you could only have a personal item on those short flights so I am assuming that my carry on from the big flight from LAX to Lima becomes a checked bag that costs extra for those shorter flights within Peru? Maybe that is specific to an airline, like LATAM.
Nope it was totally fine. I had my carry on with me the entire way.
🤚🏾 this was helpful! Thanks!
Hi there. Did you know WANDRD has waste straps that fit the Provke now? It’s on their site. I got mine for my next trip for the same reason :) cheers 🥂
I just saw that! So awesome. Did you use them yet?
@@hopscotchtheglobe yes. Just back from South America and I did use them. They aren’t super super comfy like well padded Osprey built in straps. But they serve the purpose and I like that they are removable. Helps take the weight off the shoulders for sure.
Great video but the info given about Lima at 1:21 is incorrect, Lima is at sea level (150 meters above sea approx)
You're totally right. I said that wrong. I def meant to say about 150 feet and about 400 ft at the highest point (Plaza del Armas). Thanks for pointing that out! Basically my point was for Cuzco, you want to spend a couple of days getting used to the altitude and with Lima you don't
There’s not a link that lists the packing cubes, where are they from? Also, what kind of hiking boots do you have?
I just added a list with links to everything including the hiking boots and packing cubes in the video description! Thanks for pointing this out.
Great video! Im wondering what month did you go? I am going Peru on August
September!
Where is your jewlery from!
I make a lot of my own and also have jewelry from every country I visit. The necklace is a third eye pinecone (just type that in Google and you'll find it) the earrings are from Costa Rica and the bracelet I made.
I'm going to Lima too which I think requires different clothes. What do you recommended for Lima, cusco, sacred basket and machu picchu
This packing list works for lima too
Going to do the Salkantay 5-day trek next week! Your video was very informative on what to pack, but is this just for a 2-day trek?
I did 2 nights and 3 days of trekking and 10 days in Peru. This packing list works for your trip as well. You're going to have so much fun!
Be sure to check out my other Peru vlogs from my trip and you can get a taste of what I did and what you'll do
did those sweaters leave fuzzies? that is my big debate if i should pack my own. I leave July 10th please let me know :)
Nope not at all!
@@hopscotchtheglobe ok time to repack and not be the "what if" packer LOL thank you soo much!
When did you travel? What month?
September
Lima is not at 1550 meters it is practically at sea level ~0 meters because it's on the coast
It can reach that at certain points of the city
I'm of Peruvian descent, I understand you might be trying to pronounce Machu Picchu correctly but its actually pronounced (MA-CHU PI-CHU) or (MA-CHEW PI-CHEW). I hope this helps! :)
I was so confused by her pronunciation too 😆
machu pikachu:?????
Thank you for using the metric system 😂
I was going to watch until you pronounced it pic-tu
Thats how you pronounce it! I learned this while at Machu Picchu from the local guides. Sorry to tell you, you've most likely been saying it wrong the whole time...I was too. I did a UA-cam short about it.
