Joe & Anthony Russo on ‘Avengers: Infinity War’: “Dimensions of the MCU Will End”

- I have no idea how Joe and Anthony Russo plan to outdo Captain America: Civil War, but they’ve more than earned the benefit of the doubt. Civil War and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are both terrific, and the directors deserve to handle the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most pivotal, and biggest piece, the two-parter Avengers: Infinity War.
Collider's own Steve Weintraub recently spoke to the directors on the subject of Infinity War for sixteen minutes and learned a lot about the upcoming superhero epic. Watch the full interview above or read the transcript below.
Before you check out the interview, here are some highlights:
It will fundamentally change the MCU; some things will end and some things will change forever.
They’re looking at a lot of concept art for the extraterrestrial stuff, but they still want to keep it grounded.
We’ve only scratched the surface of Scarlet Witch and Vision’s powers.
Josh Brolin (Thanos) will be on set for filming.
They’ll be shooting for a year.
So much time will be spent servicing characters for Infinity War that there probably won’t be much room for Easter eggs of other characters.
There’s a lot of ongoing dialogue between them and the other Phase 3 Directors.
They’re expecting some of the IMAX cameras they’re using to get “destroyed”.

These two brothers are geniuses and you can tell by this interview they take their craft extremely seriously. How they can balance such big scale movies with tons of characters and still make the story line flow effortlessly and maintain grounded while not getting lost within itself is completely insane to me. Thank you Russo brothers for your hard work in the MCU.

So glad the next two Avengers movies are in these guy's hands. They killed it with Winter Soldier and Civil War. And hearing them talk, they just have "it." They know what it takes to make great movies that audiences love.
I hope they stay in the MCU and keep directing Marvel movies after Infinity War
Totally, dude. The Russo Brothers are just perfect at directing superhero movies, just like Christopher Nolan. Civil War is Marvel's best movie and its most well rounded film.
I have a feeling that they will direct a Fantastic Four movie.

I just have a feeling that the way they react in 48:50 is something different.
these two guys clearly have an awesome vision for how to deal with the material. and it's always character first. like when asked about The Vision himself and his abilities. they instead spoke about advancing his character first. powers later. and also saying they will focus on current characters and doing them justice. not just adding in easter eggs and cameos. great stuff.

They made two Marvel films, and both of them were the best Marvel films ever made. I think you should have 80% of their faces tattooed on you already. 90% when Part 1 comes out, and then of course the glorious finished tattoo when Part 2 comes out

Civil War, I think, is now my fav Marvel movie ever. And I thought Winter Soldier was un-toppable. I cant wait to see what the Russo's do next
That and Winter Soldier are my top two favorite MCU movies as of right now , these guys are like the Christopher Nolan of the MCU, but I still think as a solo movie Winter Soldier is slightly better, but not by a lot

I have so much faith on the Russo brothers; saying that they did a fantastic job on The Winter Soldier and Civil War is an understatement. Absolutely cannot wait for Infinity War.

I love how the Russos riff off each other.They always give perfect interviews without giving too much away yet they make you care much more about the love put in to what they are doing.This isn't just a paycheck to them.

To be fair, they are much better (?) at collaborating and using the people around them, Joss is more of an auteur and tends to work more alone. The Russos are two directors working with two writers, Joss was one guy doing all of the writing and directing. He got burnt out, but let's not forget he did a super job on Avengers. Don't get me wrong, Cap 2 and Cap 3 are my favourite MCU movies so far but Joss and his work has had a huge influence on me over many years so I get a little defensive for him lol.

Hmm, I'm assuming that Thanos will probably bring Quicksilver back with the Soul Gem to get under her skin only to kill him again or have him fight her.

+Flynn M they have to make Thanos menacing and seem like a huge cosmic threat, but also get under the skin of the characters on a personal level so they would have to go a little bit dark or gritty to show he's not messing around.

Thank you Russo Brothers for making an awesome movie out of Captain America: Civil War! I love the whole movie and I didn't have any issue with it. You guys have made a superhero movie that's as good as The Dark Knight.

It annoyed me the first two times I saw it, the third time I was watching the choreography more closely and barely noticed it. But I'm glad not all the fights were shot like that.
The final fight features very different cinematography than the first 3. The airport action scene is also unique.

My only complain about CACW is too much shaky camera in some fights scenes. Steel one of the top 3 best comic book movies of all time.
I noticed that they use the shaky cam a lot I'm fight scenes where they have a lot of stunt doubles (for Widow, the highway fight between Cap and WS in the second movie, etc.) I think the shaky cam helps hide the fact that the stunt people don't look like the actors. Scarlett Johansson's stunt woman is way taller and their faces look nothing alike, for instance.

There's nothing wrong with Frosty, he asks good questions and I really enjoy his interviews.
But every interview it's just question after question, there's no back and forward conversation.
The Russo bros said they will change the name, and it won't be call Infinity War par 1/2. Each movie will have a different name, cuz the 2 movies are so different from one another.

This is why all Marvel movies are epic. Because all the directors talk and are on the Same page. They are all united. And when your creating a huge universe like the MCU, that is a must. DC can learn a lot from Marvel.

i found after watching Infinity wars several times that I can explain each and every WTF moment . they took care of almost everything . but yes i't was realy tough to pull off.
I really love how the Russo's are interested in virtual reality and how it could one day be interpreted into future movie making, that would be pretty cool to wear a oculus rift headset and walk around in stark tower.
