The Russo Bros know how film works. Story and character are king.

They succeeded on that and on Endgame.
Great guys and filmmakers there, you can tell they really care about the characters and want to do their best to make them great. I love how they spoke on action scenes and said if they aren't moving the story along or adding to the character's development, it's basically pointless. More directors and studios should listen to that advice, including some of their own Marvel directors.
I agree, if they weren't already, I'm sure after I see CW, they'll be my favorite action directors. TWS was amazing how they were able to make it feel small and large at the same time. I can't wait to see what they have in store for all of us in Infinity War 1 & 2!

Wow, they got the John Wick directors to help with some action scenes! These fights are gonna be insane! Now I want to see The Russos collaborate with the JW directors on something. A cool action thriller maybe.

Who would have thought the guys who directed You, Me and Dupree would become two of the best and most kick ass comic book directors out there and I certainly would have never thought that they would become my favorite. And now Marvel has handed them the keys to the kingdom and I can't wait to see them tackle Thanos.

I love their advice for young and rising filmmakers. "Film anything and everything. Bring everything to the editing room." In my personal opinion, this is the glorious way of saying that digital filmmaking and nonlinear editing allow your crew to find tricks and performances that you otherwise wouldn't have.
I love these guys, so glad they're doing Infinity Wars too
If I could be best friends with any 2 people in Hollywood, it would absolutely be these guys

Well, they were primarily TV guys, which is what Feige wanted. TV directors know how to shoot lean and economically (fast and most importantly, on budget).

Great interview! Good questions and the guests answered them thoughtfully, so it was a pleasure watching it.
Their point about the vacuous action was very interesting, and it makes me look forward to the movie if they really managed to stay true to it. But I am hopefull, TWS was a very good movie.
Dennis and Wendy, excellent job on the interview! Questions were smooth and natural, and kept the Russos engaged. I would like to see Wendy interject here and there the next time around to really get that conversation really going.
I can't wait to see the movie!!! And even without seeing it I can tell that these guys know what they're doing. That added to the level of approval from the Collider people for the movie makes me even MORE excited!!
These guys are intelligent, modest and so down to earth. I really admire them. Seems like they've done a wonderful job and given us a comic book film for the ages.
Marvel will continue to have a bright and epic future with these two helping to steer the MCU ship.

Great interview.It's abundantly obvious that marvel/Disney have made fantastic decisions on selecting their directors for their movies. These gentlemen have a solid hold on these movies and cannot wait to see more from them. Disney/marvel need to lock them down for another 10 years.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I think its incredible that they were willing to get other directors help and opinions on the movie. A lot of directors are protective and have a sort of my way or the highway stand point. The Russo Bros just want to make the best movie they can. Its weird because when Marvel first started making movies I thought ah Jon Favreau is gonna be the guy, like the main director. Then it looked like Josh Whedon was gonna fill the role. But now I'm hoping the Russo Bros will be hevily involved at least the avengers movies for a while after Infinity Wars
I think they are helped by the way they work, that they have a big tram and are very open to collaboration, which takes the pressure off just one person...e.g. Joss Whedon when it came to AoU. They also prioritise story over spectacle and as a result succeed with both. Hope they stick around in the MCU, they have made my favourite movies so far

Everything Joe Russo says from 10:40-13:17 is so true and an interesting explanation of film making. The later part of his talk sounds essential for good film making. I love both Marvel and DC films, bit more on the DC side, but I hope DC / Warner Bros work with the same ethics as the Russo brothers / Marvel (if not already) for the rest of their films to come...

Both seem very intelligent and open minded people and that is probably why they are so good at what they do. They had their vision and where smart enough to ask for others help and collaboration in order to complete it.
TWS is the best marvel movie (until now) and I was sure the Russo's would make a great sequel even if I didn't care for any of the trailers.
A little precision on what Anthony Russo said about shooting on IMAX. They are NOT shooting on "real" IMAX, which is IMAX 70mm which is what parts of Interstellar, TDK, TDKR, BvS, STID, etc were shot on, ie film. Civil War was shot, the airport sequence that is, on the Alexa 65, digital camera with a 65 mm sized sensor, 6K resolution, which is the camera they're touting as the digital IMAX camera for digital IMAX.

yeah but in the marvel movies whule the directors are an essential part of the movies, it's the whole team that maps the universe and make the film really good, kevin feige chooses these directors based on their pitch, so maybe the russos said the next cap should be a political thriller it's the team who made the movie so good. for me Man of Steel was a masterpiece for reasons i would not go into right now, and zack snyder did a masterful job with it but that's one caracter, when he movef to BvS that was another story cuz he had no big team backing him up. U could bring Spielberg and Daniel day Louis to justice league and if there is no team that could handle so many moving parts the movie will not be as good.

PetoriusCRO s i'm not finding any excuses for Zack , he shit the bed on this one , as much as i wanted to like the movie i'll be honest and say it was garbage , actually i will go far than most people and say while batman was the one i wanted to see for a long time , not even this Arkham-ish Batman saves it for me , they had a potential to catch up with marval in this one but they didn't . I would hope they keep zack so he could give them advice on how to shoot these movies , cuz the guy knows how to shoot a movie , but i'd like another one to the JL .

Here in Portugal, the movie will be out in 2 weeks. I feel like it's going to be the longest 2 weeks of my life! I would like to see my favorite image in the comic translated to the big screen - Cap's shield on the wall, stuck with Spiderman's web, showing that respect everyone has for Steve Rogers even when they think he's not on the right side. #TeamCap

Another reason could be piracy on international markets but I fail to give a more compelling argument for that haha... Team cap all the way!
