This was a total game changer. I was wondering why I always felt like o was dragging my skates and struggling to bubble or turn or anything. Instantly felt like I could get a 1000% more confident! Thank you

The “counting the threads” thing is actually such a smart tip, i’m always scared to loosen them differently cause i’ve always been adjusting them on my feeling of how much the trucks move. Now i can actuallt make sure they’re the same

I tried to follow this tip and noticed that while one skate was super tight with only 3 threads, the other one was super loose with the same amount of threads showing. I guess not all pieces are the same (?) anyways, I've adjusted them according to my feeling ..but maybe I missed something...

      @QueerGirlStraightSkates  3 роки тому +7

@@erifa3250 definitely an important thing to note, because depending on how your skates were built, the pins might not be the same length. Definitely go based off of feeling if you notice a significant difference. What kind of skates do you have?

@@QueerGirlStraightSkates thank you!! I have Chayas Melrose Elite (love is love version) .. it’s my 3rd week of roller skating and I’m testing how I like my skates adjusted.. I also noticed that at the end of every outdoor session some wheels spin more than the others so I tight them every day :/

**EDIT** when referring to the nut on the kingpin, I misnamed it the axel nut a couple times in the video
For clarity's sake (I think there is some confusion) I am not advocating for overtightening your nut on the kingpin, because that can cause damage to the cushions. Be cautious of both over tightening and over loosening the trucks.
Additionally, if you are adjusting trucks that you are already skating on, you will definitely need to adjust them less than I did in the video (like only a quarter or a half turn) since I was adjusting a new skate, they were already tight and needed to be extra loosened.
If you want to watch a video explaining/demonstrating loose vs. tight trucks: check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/9wnXeVp7wTc/v-deo.html

So sorry babe, that people are pricks and don’t know how to teach and correct in a helpful, educational way. I’m sorry that there is an elitist mentality of attacking people who make mistakes. I’m proud of you for taking in the knowledge despite how rude some were in order to get the right information out there. You are amazing. Love you 💕

  • @marsbase3729

Great explanation. As a skateboarder, I thought it was cool to hearyou can have different tightness levels on the front and back with skates, as long as you keep it symmetrical between the left and right skate.
I like to have my back truck on my board a bit tighter than my front, so at higher speeds my weight is more towards the back for stability and when I need to make tighter turns I shift my weight more forward.
Trucks are really the unsung hero of skating and skateboarding, lol.
    Rock on and keep rolling!
    👍😎👍

2 things- 1. I just loosened my trucks for the first time and the ease in getting my spins and transitions are so much easier! A little squirrly still but getting my balance figured out! 2. I received a package from moxi yesterday and the thing i was most happy about was the queen girl straight skates sticker that was in there. We are riding in style with that on my helmet. @9:50 I keep mine that loose. Super wobbly like some top pro skaters. Some of them use super glue to keep the nut on and shave their bushings, or use 1 or no bushings and just change the washers after they look like Venus fly traps like Daewon. I suggest small height wheels. This is all for advanced skaters.

    • @MystiqueRisingSun

Mine are JUST tight enough not to squish the cushions in the back, but my fronts...maybe just a tad more loose. If I 'tripod" my two front wheels with my toe stop while on, there's JUST a little movement, but not much. If that makes sense. LOL
I've been working on toe work, they need to be a little tight (so there's no wobble) when going up on all 4 front wheels, but still have enough slack so that you can still crossover without them wanting to go straight.

10:35 - ish....I always told my friends, if they're loose enough they touch, you'll turn into Superman. NO ONE wants to fly through the air on their skates. Wheels should *almost* always be in contact with the ground, unless you're purposely jumping over something, of course. :) I've seen so many people at the rink loosen theirs up and catch a wheel...that sudden stop sucks! LOL
