      I do wonder if we'll see any signs of Rivals in Rogue Core. Given their efforts are only minorly invasive prospecting rather than full-scale mining like DRG's, they might've gotten some information out but simply decided not to piss off whatever the hell they found down there.

    It just occured to me: "Marked for death" automatically pinging the enemy you hit is unironically a massive buff for the mole overclock. Gunners are gonna have a field day with that one, lol

      Holy crap that’s awesome, coil gun is currently my least used weapon out of them all, mole seemed useful but tedious at times. If I’ve got a scout marking enemies for death that’s gonna be fun :)

    I haven't played experimental, but just hearing the new enemies feel a bit weaker tells me GSG is avoiding another stingtail and spreader situation. People had their criticisms of season 4, but GSG is still one of the best devs out there imho. Can't wait for s5, any balance changes, and rogue core.

      I still remember this one elite deep dive not long after stingtails update in the magma core and I think 2nd mission was salvage next to basically huge hole. Stingtails where playing ping pong with us. I had to redo this several times and barely made it.

      If we got an endless mode, it'd be neat if it rewarded resources directly to give it some incentive. Often times you end up doing standard missions on specific environments to get materials, but having something more directly focused on it rather than exp or assignments would be neat.

      @@gammaboy4568 They could give the same rewards as regular Deep Dives and Elite, but the catch would be after your first time through Endless, you would have to pass your previous record before you start getting Overclocks and Cosmetics again.

      I mean look, they come out of rock portals, and they were rocks on their skin. They win my dwarven respect just for that.

    season selection continues to make DRG the best game ever. I can experience all previous story and get items. I joined in season 4.

      Technically, you were always able to get these items. The difference is, prior seasons’ items were added to the store, loot crates, lost armors, and cosmetic overclock pools, once the season was over.

      Season 3 and 4 were absolutely terrible imo. The whole litophage gimmick was tedious and annoying, especially for 2 seasons. DRG is still one of the best games ever made though.

      @@drconflict629 Eh, to each their own. I liked the gimmick. But it's definitely a real nice change that we can select the season now, with the modern perks and features from all the updates since its initial releases.

      I personally think lithophage is cool, but it dragged on for too long, and overstayed it's welcome being the gimmick of two seasons.

      @@dorianrobinette9712 It really did, especially considering they didn't expand upon it too well. Looking at the jump in Rival stuff from S1 to S2, S3 to S4 felt a lot weaker. Doesn't help we've been stuck with S4 a lot longer than any previous season.

    I do agree on the ending of the Deep Scan missions; flying up where we just dug on jet boots is really sick and feels great, but Molly kind of ruins the experience being slow behind. Slapping some jet boots onto Molly would be really sick, though it might be hard to implement just a week before the season fully launches.

    I definitely agree that the scalebramble and spitter could use a health buff. I was actually surprised how easily the former went down when I found one.
    I think the devs went a bit lower than intended so they wouldn't repeat the issue of overtuning the stats like they did on the stingfail and spreader at the start of seaon 4.

    my opinions on new enemies:
    vortox: too weak, the cores spawn way too close to it, pathetic health after the cores are broken sometimes they die faster than webspitter
    stalker: the camouflage is fair, its not too hard to see but you do have to look for it, good health, if they hit you your shield is downed for half a century, only problem i have with them is they make way too much noise, its hard to not notice that a stalker is around.
    barrage infector: they are cool. tanky, but not too aggressive, but they can still kill you really fast if you position badly. i think they are perfect as they are now.
    crawler: they need a nerf, im ok with them being fast and doing a lot of damage, but jesus christ they have too much health, its insane to fight something as fast as the roly-poly's that has the health bar of a praetorian and attacks in groups, all while having a very small hitbox, oh and of course they also drop a pool of goo that slows and causes damages on death, because f*ck you

      considering that having your shield disabled is very dangerous (shield disruption is one of the most lethal mutators because of this), i think the stalkers being loud is *necessary.* would be frankly frustrating if the only way you could discern them is via the camo outline, because if you don't have a scout or just aren't looking in that direction at the right time you lose a TON of effective HP and it can cost you the run.

      @@ApexGale dont get me wrong, im not complaining that they make noise, im complaining that they make the noise too frequently, they pretty much need to rely on the sound pollution a swarm does to be able to creep on you otherwise out of a swarm its too easy to hear them.
      cave leeches make almost no sound, and they dont just damage you, they will kill you if no one's nearby

      @@kevinaosei but the difference is cave leeches are stationary and can only spawn in open cave systems. assuming you're playing with a team, all the scout needs to do is light up the cave and scan the ceilings. the leech tentacle also is fairly slow when it descends.
      the stalkers have partial *and* full invisibility, they need to be frequently broadcasting their presence or else you'll just get got out of nowhere. It's really tricky balancing around enemies you can't see, i think this was a good approach

      @@ApexGale also stalkers effectively teleport via digging, making it so that pinpointing exactly where they are is quite difficult.
      At the same time in my experience stalkers are also a very rare spawn especially when compared to stingtails and septic spreaders where I saw at least one of those two basically every mission. With stalkers I have only seen them on two separate missions. Both of the times I have though they were very terrifying to deal with.

    Bruh! So stoked about the engie's turret arc platforms. They might prove to be O.P. as I already have tactics forming in my head ... looks like I'll have put on the double haz 5 plus modifiers!

      I find I run out plat way more for good reasons. Shot 2 Plat down and prum u have spinning death zone the slow is super good

    Nothing can beat the explosive chemical rounds for the lok-1
    Also about the blood sugar: I found loot bugs also drop red sugar, and quite a lot of it, so maybe save loot bugs until you're low on health.

    I feel like the drillevator saws would be better if they were similar to rock crackers / engi turrets. Having to repair the full amount regardless of how broken the part is feels a little bit rough especially as a solo. All four will break unless you're watching them 80% of the time. Also core spawn crawlersare super rough, I'm not sure if it was just because of inadequate teammates, but there are just so many that spawn and they can all jump at you and do damage from across the cave while being as tanky as a guard. The last thing I'll say is that drillevator missions are so much easier on driller or scout. The caves are super windy and being able to navigate them freely or just drill to a closeby cave is super nice. Sometimes the crystal will be right above you and if you don't have a driller you might have to across the entire map just to reach that branch without mining.

    Imo mortar rounds for the thunderhead have way too much visual clutter. If you shoot enemies close to you its really hard to see whats going on. Also cluster bombs feel kinda clunky having to constantly press R

      I wonder if the cluster bombs would work on a "hold m1 to continuously launch missiles, release to convert all missiles into cluster bombs" mechanic better.

      plasma burster missiles remain the uncontested meta for gunner, which is a shame because it means if you are taking a game seriously because it's modded high difficulty or haz 5 + or something, you're pretty much always gonna be rocketboi

If you start holding r just before you shoot a missile you can make it explode as soon as it shoots out which i found is the best way to deal with bugs that are in your face, but its really janky and inconsistent. If you could just tap the fire button it would work much better

      ​@@batschisdadoller Primary is Hurricane with Plasma Burster missiles OC and 11112 gear mods.
      Secondary is coil gun with Triple-Tech Chambers OC and 22222 gear mods.
      Use Hurricane for dps.
      Use coil gun as a crowd control utility/close-quarters panic-button. Never fully charge it, always triple-fire it. It's predominantly a fear-spam tool, and if used well in crowd-control situations, its residual trail damage can out damage its direct damage BY A LOT.
      Recommended perks:
      Resupplier, Deep Pockets, Born Ready, Iron Will (for failstate clutches), Hover Boots (for if you get knocked off a zipline while giving air-support from one)
      You truly have no idea just how many HIDDEN pros this setup has until you try it in multiple scenarios and realize you really *do* have an answer for EVERY threat you'll come across. Dreadnaughts, swarmer tunnels, Caretaker, distant spitballers, you name it.
      Here's some of the hidden pros I can remember off the top of my head:
      1) Rockets will stay targeting wherever the crosshair was last resting at if you switch away from Hurricane with rockets still in the air, meaning unlike the other 2 primaries, Hurricane's dps DOES NOT drop to 0 when you switch away from the weapon.
      2) The penetration function of the plasma burster missiles mean they go right through armor and swing back around to hit an enemy on a back-side weakpoint multiple times per-rocket, trivializing oppressors and praetorians even when facing them head on because the rockets do repeat-direct-damage per-penetration based on where each penetration point occurs.
      3) Rocket guidance does not stop or falter during reload, allowing Hurricane dps to be maintained through the entirety of the reload animation, unlike the other two primaries.
      4) Plasma Burster missiles for some reason to HUGE damage to Ommoran Heartstone flying meteors, allowing a gunner to solo the entire phase with extreme ease.
      5) Plasma Burster missiles damage terrain, allowing you to fire at red sugar on the ceiling and drop it onto yourself or fire at Ommoran Heartstone laser spires and destroy them without having to go near them with only 2 or 3 rockets.
      6) Hurricane missiles stun on hit, and Plasma Burster OC does not negate or hinder this stat at all, resulting in the more rockets you have swarming a target at once, the more often it is repeat-stunned, allowing you to stunlock targets until they are dead, meaning you only need to tap a target with 1 or 2 missiles and they become a free kill that cannot attack back. This natural stun-locking from missile swarms works especially well on mactera, who can be re-stunned the fastest.
      7) The coil gun with the 22222 gear mods allows for any of the 3 triple-tech chamber shots to be *just* enough to kill a full-health lootbug at any distance as the residual trail damage will finish them off, preventing wasting a rocket on a harmless target.
      8) Always using the coil gun at its lowest charge while sporting the 22222 gear mod setup ensure you will virtually never run out of ammo on it, even if you fire all 3 times per minimum charge, making it a tremendously OP emergency-survivability secondary if your Hurricane runs dry.

    I actually agree with most of your takes besides some of the OCs and the enemies. I think the stalker is fine. It being tankier doesn't really fufill what its trying to do and that's sneak up and disable your shields. The stalker shouldn't be tanky just for the sake of sticking around longer in fact, it would just be annoying for those times where you're just sitting around trying to kill it. Scale bramble is weird because I haven't had any personal issues with it but I could tell it can be annoying if you just can't access the place where one of its nodules is. I don't really think it needs a buff or nerf even if both our conerns are true but it doesn't feel overwhelming mainly because its pretty easy to dodge since you can out run the shots fired from it. Barrage infector on the other hand is one I can agree with. Its pretty simple to take care of as gunner, driller, and engi and prevent from shooting its first shot. I only really found it hard to kill as scout but thats because the deepcore new OC kinda sucks.
    As for OCs, gunner's are great with mortar rounds is probably the only one that's not great but still fun.
    Drillers are all amazing and fun to mess with. Sludge pump OC would be better if burning nightmare actually worked half the time.
    Engi are just solid options though not his best which it doesn't need to be. It gives him nice alternatives that he really needed. Also new turret arc might honestly be stubby's new best OC.
    Scout I think got the short end of the stick with MFD being the only one I really like. Deepcore's dmg is already pretty mediocre on its own and it mainly comes from its high firerate so the burst feels pretty underwhelming without a dmg buff and drak's OC doesn't feel impactful. I don't really see a difference that makes it worth it besides vs dreads which I would rather run the classic or deepcore instead.
    Overall, This is probably the best season so far. So much content, 12 very interesting OCs, a really fun mission, a very unique basically bossfight of a event, 3 enemies that switch up how we play the game a bit, and the now currently the best season pass system that has ever been implanted into a game. The new season pass system legit could carry this game for the next 2 years because its just constant things to unlock for people.

      the burst for the deepcore would be good if they do not go with a 3 round burst. for a 3 round burst at a rate of 3.3 bursts per second, one is doing basically 10 rounds per second. the deepcore already does this without it. so, they will need to do something more to justify it. i think they should give it at least +1 or +2 pen with it.
      as for the drak, i do think they should buff the effect as it is only 5%, whatever that means. one should consider the shock effect buff that comes with it, since the scout can carry both fire arrows and cryo handhelds. interestingly, i have been running lately a thermal exhaust feedback and cryo-minelet build. it is effective, but not nearly as effective as the wavecooker from driller.

      Deepcore should have been an unstable that changes it to burst fire and increases damage on consecutive shots, but the recoil is higher and the damage ramp up disappears after a certain period of time or after missing. would have rewarded accurate and properly timed shots with better damage, since good sustained damage is the thing scout kind of lacks. will probably just roll with the new M1000 marked for death overclock and go full support.

      @@ApexGale no, what it should have been was an overclock called full metal jacket and had +2 pen. that would have made it very useful.
      also, scout does have good sustained dmg, but with the shotgun, bodkin points with boomerangs, or cryo minelets with bullets of mercy, or electric reload.

      @@commonsense-og1gz scout has the worst sustained damage in the game comparatively unless you don't factor in engineer's turrets. he's not meant to be strong at dealing damage, it's his tradeoff for being so mobile. he's there for utility, usually the last one down and as such has a much easier time reviving teammates. yeah, you can build him to do more damage, but his investment is pretty high and tends to hurt his ammo reserve, forcing him to play conservatively. he's also the only dwarf who only has one damaging throwable, reinforcing the point that he's there to be a more supportive class and not a sustained dps like the gunner and driller.
      no point playing him like a dps, run him with armor breaking/disruption perks and overclocks and help your team have an easier time killing the glyphids. only reason i suggested that overclock is because it would have been a fun new way to play scout

      @@ApexGale the only problem with scout is lack of AOE options for primary. he has no problem with consistent dps, but AOE based dps for primary. i would rather they focus on AOE based overclocks for primary, mostly drak, and buff TEF for the drak to do heat radiance as well, covering a 2 meter radius, instead of focusing on more single tgt overclocks which are pointless since the base primaries already do this. this same rule applies to driller, and why the devs won't give an overclock that can be used to prevent falls, or used like RJ-250.
      as for the throwables, pheromones are the most powerful ones in the game. assuming that a scout is carrying the shotgun with +3 pen, stun and fire, can absolutely wreck a horde.
      as for the boomerang, it applies stun, which is god tier against mactera, and when paired with the bodkin points and magnetic shafts (25% more dmg as well), absolutely wrecks them. i used this combo with ER for the deepcore on an haz 5 escort mission (solo), and it was strong.

    I like the implication of Hoxxes fighting back in rogue core and the intro of core crawlers being brought up from the deeper levels of the planet is a good and even ominous start which really like.

    Defending at the drop pod while Molly climbs out of the drillevator shaft is basically the same thing as defending until the drop pod lands after launching the minehead, or defending while the repaired drop pod boots up, just with different mechanics.
    All evacs needs to have some sort of hurdle.
    Also 30:58 was just beautiful :)

    Volatile bullets gunner eating good with that drax overclock. (Volatile bullets, and all the status based bonus damage effects, deal the extra damage as the element that activated the effect.)

    I would like to see the crystals for the drillevator mission either be above ground or shown on the map like eggs are. Sometimes you get a MASSIVE cave and it can be extremely difficult to find one or two of the crystals as a gunner / engineer

    I think with blood sugar, you've got to think of the glyphids as a resource to manage, like be tactical on when you kill them, let some grunts follow you about as a walking blood bag.

    My time between finishing the geode and Moll-E boarding the drop pod is filled with joyous jetbooting. You can avoid pretty much everything and the cool down is so low I barely touch the ground.

    For the spitters, I think instead of making them tankier, they should appear in tandem. Like a Spitter and a bomber, or a bomber and an entangler... that would increase their threat significantly. I remember being in a room with a bomber and a 3 stabaavines and we almost got wiped

    I’m personally all over the new overclocks they’re awesome and it’s nice that none of them are just like THE thing to run because overclocks shouldn’t have a definitive “best one” (in my opinion) it should be all about what you like best and what works for you like you’re not a fan of the cluster missiles cool you don’t need to use them and can use a different one that works better for you so on so forth

    I agree that with new overclocks, we don’t necessarily need new weapons. Don’t get me wrong, new weapons would be awesome to add, but with the right overclocks you can introduce completely new play styles while still using the same weapons as before. Really excited about several of the overclocks, they all seem very strong or fun :)

    I have cheated on my darling with a younger, more attractive and exciting partner since around February. It however turned out to be an unstable mess with huge daddy issues that really can't be overlooked so now I've decided to go back to DRG on my bare knees and beg it to take me back hopefully forgiving me for my betrayal and the time I spent helldiving.

      It's ok we all felt our fingers twitching for dystopian sci fi coop mission. And hd2 was so alluring with high player count, word of mouth, dripping with hours of content. Unfortunately she still sorting out her stuff, drg was just taking her time but shes reliable, hopefully one day we can both fight for managed democracy and rock and stone

    The only thing I wish they did for the stubby of rework is to let me chain electricity from my turret to a platform and basically make a huge line of electricity. I feel like the cost to effectiveness ratio would be pretty good for that considering that you have to use plats, turrets, and stubby amno. I just wanna make a big ring of lightning.

      You can chain with turret from other engines, I don’t if you can electrify them, but you can arc with friendly turret.

      For what u want but 2 turret on 1 side, shoot 4 plat on the others and watch u abuse those poor bug except long-range attacker.

    From my own experience until now, Cluster Charges is the most powerfull OC for gunner.

      Minelayer system seems way stronger still since that is his strongest OC along with volatile bullets and neurotoxin payload

      @@stanman3192 I totally disagree. While minelayer are not guided and need time to be ready, you can spam and trigger immediately. Are you surrounded? No problem, Cluster Charges saves the day. So many materas? Cluster Charges is the solution. Too many invasors? Cluster Charges!. Industrial Sabotage? Cluster Charges!; etc.
      Sorry bro, I've been testing it since the experimental season was released and it worked great.

      @@khavyer1417 so have I, it is not good against flying/ceiling/wall enemies compared to other options, it's really limited imo and if it's at least gonna be limited I prefer the more consistent AOE of minelayer especially with hazard 5+

    Sometimes i feel like were not on a planet but a long dead Creature thats become a huge ecosystem for Invasive species(or non-invasive) that perhaps got on via meteorite maybe marooned ships who knows. ps the reason i say this is cos in some of the planets loading screens it looks Reminiscent to a broken skull or body but at the end of the day its just a thought

      The batteries might come from the deposit point, but my guess is that the mutator just won't show up on those missions. It wouldn't be the first time (haunted cave with a similarly unkillable enemy can't show up on escort or salvage missions)

    the OCs I'm most concerned with are Gk2 and Drak.
    For GK2, the delay between bursts actually cuts down your overall DPS by a noticeable amount. You only really get a benefit if you can guarantee a single burst kill, but if it doesn't meet the breakpoint, or you just miss a shot, waiting for the next burst is a bit clunky. Also, the lack of any real benefit to connecting all 3-4 shots in a burst makes it really lacking, especially when we have BoM, Aise, and ER as options that provide a massive boost in one way or another. Stun isn't even 100% reliable, its like 60% at best.
    Drak's issues are similar in that it doesn't really do enough for itself with the damage penalty, and the damage bonus is kinda marginal.

    For the future, I wouldn’t go too horribly in depth with balance if I were you. Experimental changes every day. Sometimes a few times a day.
    Pump Action is being constantly reworked to be more useful, Cluster Missiles now need Reload to be held for 0.1 seconds instead of 0.3, Scorching Tide had code that wasn’t supposed to be used so it’s slightly less powerful, you get the gist.
    If you choose to talk about it anyway, which is fine- experimental is all about balance discussion- please make sure it’s known that the stats are not final. Good video otherwise.

    I love this game and i like your points. I also think the enemies are a little too weak. My biggest problem with the game since almost 2 years is, that the updates are so rare. I know they´re moving right now and they are a pretty small team. But one real content update a year is soo underwhelming.

      I agree so much with this. A lot of people say shut up its all free, but since season 3 i didn't love the new content and waiting a year is just absurd, i do still like the content update and somethingto keep in mind is that they are branching out with new games is part of the issues.

      @@user-ju8vs1gc7h correct. BUT i dont think i Like the seasons. I Like the Updates being themed but i can loose that, if we get Like small Updates every Like 1 or 2 months. Maybe a few cosmetics, QOL Updates and a new enemy or 2 to three new overclocks paired with a new Event or Mini Boss that can Spawn every 2 months Would BE so much better and keep the Players playing

      No. You have a cheat terminal in the beta where you can instant unlock all overclocks and cosmetics. Its just meant for testing

      well haz5+ makes everything tougher across the board, so he probably just means they are a bit too easy strictly in relation to any given difficulty they are fought in compared to everything else in that same difficulty
