I remember being a baby, fresh in my early 20s at my first job at Sony. I worked more in corporate so any musician, especially popular ones, on our floor was a treat. One day, I looked up and Phoebe walked in with one of the people who worked there, who was also a conductor, and who was helping Phoebe with a project and upcoming show. I have met quite a few celebrities at job, but man oh man, meeting Phoebe was one of the sweetest moments. She walked by my little cubicle with David who was helping her and I jumped up and ran to her and told her what a huge fan I was. She humbly chuckled, took my hand and said "you're a baby, what do you know about my music?" I went to my desk and showed her 3 of her cds I had (my mom had those same cds on vinyl). She was so tickled that someone my age at the time listened to her music. I told her we listened her music a lot in my home growing up and how exciting it was to meet her. She autographed one of my cds, took a picture with me AND I was a invited personally by her to her show. It was a wonderful evening and I will always cherish the beloved, Phoebe Snow.

Pheobe Snow is fantastic to listen to about her nascent beginnings and how she started with a fleeting audition. Not only is she a great musician, she's also a wonderful storyteller. What a great lady of indelible inspiration leaving a long- lasting musical legacy.

Never EVER under estimate the value of this interview.
I had the chance to see Phoebe in SF during her tour in support of her album SOMETHING REAL.... it was on week night and I said... “oh I’ll have the chance to see another time...”
That never happened, so this series is a great gift!

I think I saw her in a little coffeehouse in Cambridge MA singing "I Cover the Waterfront", around 1969, might have been her. Great singer and writer. What a warm, smart, sweet, self-deprecating generous woman with nice things to say about the Boss, George Harrison and others.

Whoa ! David ... wow wee.. This is Gold .. Greetings from Sydney Australia..
Love the fact that Phoebe, felt so relaxed and comfortable with this interview with you .. what a gem of a woman .. i can see how she is so ready to just talk about her life and times and memories, with you in this , almost like it's cathartic for her a release as it were and genuinely shocking herself , yet enjoying recalling moments in time, in her years of starting out , and then seeing her feeling more comfortable being in and recognising her niche, gratefully recalling anectdotes of people and places .. Just so good
Thanks so much for posting .. it's just thrilling for me... now to watch Part 2 ..
    Just wonderful ..

My mother played her on the record player growing up in Boston and she indoctrinated / brainwashed me into her music. I preferred Queen, Al Green, and others. But Phoebe was always there somewhere until I matured and then she rose to the surface in my music taste and eventually became my absolute favorite. Harpo’s Blues and Inspired Insanity are my all time favorites. She is truly timeless. She died…but her music never will.

Girl, we weren't surprised at all. We'd kind of been waiting on you. Because there was nobody else like Phoebe Snow.
The great hearts, the ones nearing a kind of perfection here always seem to get to go home early, But she left her blessings.
