Who didn’t give his items in to the police in case something had happened on his site? I also can’t believe they strapped the mother down and put her in a ward as if she’s not the only person with any sense or morals ?! Craziest thing I’ve seen in a very long time. When our brother was 14, he did not come home one night when he clearly stated he’d be home at 11 pm. We could not locate or contact the friend he went out with (also 14). Worried sick, very early the next morning we called the non-emergency police number in Calgary. The officer who took the call totally didn’t give a shit. He’s just out with his friends. We tried to give as much information as possible. Their ages. They never did this before. This was very unusual. The other family cannot locate their son either. This was pre-cellphone era. The officer (I should say POS) became impatient, kept dismissing every thing we said, he was cruel & heartless. I asked him why he was a cop which made him angry. Very unprofessional cop was not going to do anything or process our call any further. It was mind blowing that he didn’t listen to anything we said. Turns out my brother & his friend met two older guys who took them to a party outside the city and left them there! The two took hours to walk back home in the dark but also slept in a field in the early morning hours. They arrived home in the afternoon starving, hungry, dusty, and in so much foot pain. They never went out without a quarter ever again! I’m grateful my brother was safe but cops then and today need empathy training and coaching on how to be human being toward families worried or in distress. Our situation turned out ok. I’m so sorry this mom received cruel treatment from the police. Condolences to all the family and friends. 💔

      I am actually 100% sure that the Journalist did not mean anything bad by the words;
      "Can a mother get over losing a son"...I don't think it was meant as a question at all , I think she said these words more to ascertain a heartbreaking fact to all of us listening , because believe me Not all people actually have enough empathy to understand that a mother will never ever get over the loss of a son/daughter..At least that's how I interpreted the words because I've heard so many times how much compassion and consideration this Journalist has for the victims and their families. She is a nice person with her heart in the right place, she would never say anything to hurt anyone, especially not a mother who is completely broken with grief and pain...

    The gaslighting is unreal. I don't believe a word of these alleged 'sightings'. He met his end at that party and for some reason the RCMP, as usual, were in cahoots with criminals and covered it up. Hospitalizing the mother, then attempting to convince her that he was alive and well are their usual manipulation tactics. Phil is guilty. Wearing his clothes, removing photos, drugging his friend, were all actions of a GUILTY person.
    RIP Charles and strength and love to his mother. ❤

      I agree that the RMCP lied when they said they were believed he was alive and seen years after he was last seen at the campground. It was a tainted identification through photos. They know something happened to him at that campground but they botched the investigation from day one and never wanted to turn it around. Reminds me of the case of an Australian man Owen who disappeared in Canada after going to a music festival. He was assaulted & ended up disappearing from the hospital. I can't remember how many years it was before they found some of his remains in the forest. RMCP bodges that investigation and treated Owen's family poorly.

      Seems like the cops were happy to accept any red herrings or even create them to rid themselves of this heartbroken mother. One must wonder how those cops treat their own mothers and if they ever imagine what they would do if their children disappeared and they were treated with such disdain.

      @@mr.blackhawk142I think Dennis and the OP is well aware of Charles having been killed. I think the OP meant that she hopes someone would tell Dennis where Charles’ body is so she can get some answers at least. I don’t think she will ever get ‘closure’. Not when a mother loses their child like this and was treated with so much disdain by the people whose job it was to help her find her child. Those wounds don’t heal 😔. I hope that someone, preferably more than one person, find themselves into Dennis’ life and shows her the love and respect that Charles would have given his mother. I hope that at the very least in these years where she’s feeling the frailty of age, that she is able to find some joy in her life.

    It’s a shame Karoly was so trusting. Just watching this program as a world traveller you gain instincts about areas to avoid. He seemed to be in the thick of a very transient community, likely known to local law enforcement. Unfortunately, the cops often wash their hands of these ppl in rural areas and allow them to run their petty crimes, and dealings. What an immense failure. These small town cops did nothing and should be called to account.

    My oldest left home to LA to experience the rap scene & he almost died.
    It happened twice because he was intent on seeing more & more.
    He had to be rescued from LA when the cops beat him for being incoherent & dehydrated
    Eventually he was taken to Cedar Sinai hospital where they contacted me

      Good questions. One can only assume that he was out of the picture. Could have died or maybe have no relationship with Dennis and Charles. Dennis is such an extraordinary woman who did a remarkable job raising a lovely young man who had a loving relationship with her. She deserved to be treated so so much better. I usually refrain from imagining and wishing that the crimes didn’t happen in true crime cases because I know it wouldn’t change anything and I’d just end up too upset. But in this case I really really wished Charles went home to his mother instead of going to that awful place and for them to have spent their lives together. She’s been alone for all these years and seems alone now. It absolutely breaks my heart. As a mother, I can imagine myself doing the same as she did. 😔

    The RCMP guy said there is no evidence of foul play! How about the Tiny Town manager wearing his clothes after disposing of his passport and all the other belongings he didn't use. The RCMP didn't find evidence because they didn't seem to do much investigating when he went missing for the first 3 years. They didn't do anything until his mum travelled there and got leads and the media got involved. They obviously haven't seen the shows about The First 48 or The First 72 - its much harder to find evidence after the first couple of days. If there was evidence its pretty unlikely RCMP would find it.
