Echo probably has the armor closest to clone armor by the looks of it, it's thinner at the chest and more rounded around the shoulder plates where as the rest of the batch are much bulkier at the chest and flatter on the shoulder, this is also good symbolism to show that Echo may be a bad batcher but he is always a reg at heart
Enhanced Reg. Even Arc Troopers would struggle to compete with this lot.
Tech’s armor leaves him vulnerable in multiple areas, as a specialist he’s never on the front lines usually so that’s fine, but their crowd control and overwatch dude isn’t with them at the moment, so that’s not very comforting. No offense to Echo but he’s not very good at eyes in the sky.
@@empress9554 Echo and Tech both.
@Kristopher Prime i really like that, makes him feel more like echo than just a random new bad batcher, one last part of domino squad’s story still going.
@@empress9554 since Echo is a good hacker, he needs a flying sentry bot for reconnaissance. Echo is kinda restricted.

Gen 1 Clone armor is actually stronger than Gen 2.
@@lapisinfernalis9052 yes. One in the helmet, and one in the chest-plate.
@@PRRepublicOfKorea it is
Just that gen 1 tends to be more stiff than gen 1.5 or gen 2
@@ImmaLittlePip Rex only kept the chest plate and part of the old helmet. The only point of lower protection on the phase 2 armor was the chest

@@owlwithahowl7798 ah yes, she is learning from the best I see

@@LordBeerusGodofDestruction exactly!
So want to see when they remove crosshair’s chip. How piss off crosshair going to be toward the empire or would he willingly join the empire. Usually, I think most clone hate being slave to their chip.
Plot infused armor, always the best option.
C'mon, it's a Katarn armor. Gotta respect the Legends
It still wounded him a decent amount.
Shhh ur not supposed know about that
I mean the other commandos had them in legends. Why not them?
Not unless you're destined to die at the end. I would prefer not having my life be in the hands of writers.
Most people fail to realize that Clone and Stormtrooper armor are not meant to "stop blaster fire" but rather "stop blaster fire from instantly killing"; the armor is designed to disperse the blast, so if you can get medical attention near enough to the time of the injury you could survive. The issue realized by both the Kaminoans and the GSE is that an hour of bacta, financially, costs more than completely training and equipping a new soldier.
People need to rewatch the Original Trilogy. And look at what happens when a blaster bolt hits a wall. IT FUCKING EXPLODES. Imagine that bolt hitting you WITHOUT "family friendly" censorship reducing the damage. If stone and steel wall explode in a shower of hot plasma and sparks... flesh stands little chance.
@@runakovacs4759 Han has modified blaster
@@goodmind4940 the term "modified" has very little actual meaning
@@goodmind4940 it’s hard to really use han as a baseline. He’s using a DL44 heavy blaster as a base (if memory serves correct) it’s like carrying a .44 magnum of blasters. It was renown for its ability to pierce stormtrooper armor. It had a double charge up on the bolts so each shot was twice as strong as a standard blaster.
@@frodobaggins2328 it also varies on what the blaster since some tend to be more weaker while there's also more standard aka medium then you have heavy. If we wanna get more specific we could also say repeating based blasters of all 3 categories, emp based weapons and disruptor weapons aka im incineration you slowly and painfully.
Clone Phase 1 was designed to handle tough blaster bolts more related to that of heavier medium weapons(E-11) but it doesn't mean you will always survive.
While Phase 2 provided more protection it was I believe slightly weaker so survivability was increased but the possible chance of you not having internal issues is low.
It is also possible that Gregor may have had his deflector shield on with low power.
Trying to sneak in that Cad Bane being a faster draw than the Fetts claim. Not a chance
I think Cad is a better shot
14 yo Boba did match cad bane (or atleast the metal plate on bones head heavily implies that)
I too got triggerred by the statement haha
This is gonna be the Han or Greedo shot first of our generation
Update: He was right.
Imho, the Bad Batch has probably the naratively best depiction of armor out there. It's not useless cardboard like usual but it also doesn't make them nigh invulnerable like Din. The fact that it allows them to sustain a direct hit or two but not without relevant injury just is the perfect compromise between making your heroes believably robust and still vulnerable enough for tension.
to be fair most real life armour in the modern period is designed to protect from shrapenal and blasts rather than gunshot wounds, only the centure plate is effective against rifle calibre rounds and even then that depends on the vest and the range. clone armour could easily also just be intended mostly for artillery/bombs, since those are the prime killers in warfare.
@@matthiuskoenig3378 That is one of it's main functions, actually. Stormtrooper (and clone) armor is not designed to let the wearer tank a direct blaster shot and keep fighting, but to make it so the wearer is merely knocked out, instead of outright dying. Same goes for artillery and explosions - the wearer won't stay in the fight but they will stay alive.
Hunter: *gets shot in the chest by a blaster*
Everyone: Oh no!
Me: *eating popcorn knowing that Kartarn Armor can take to full force of a grenade and be fine*
That was in Legends, but in Canon evidently Gregor survived a massive explosion, so they might be about the same.
@@MistahFox
But is Clone wars really cannon?
Not just grenades but weapons up to light cannons, verpine shatter guns ( basically railguns ) as well as having deflector shields and being EMP hardened.
Then there was also a model of Katarn armor called Night Ops armor that featured a special stealth alloy that shielded the armor against sensors and made the wearer almost invisible to the naked eye.
Yeah commandos had the best gear.
@@infamousfrovi2068 It sure as hell is and it's way more cannon than what the sequel trilogy was.
@@clonescope2433
I didnt say it wasnt I was just asking no need to be so hostile
For me the Mandalorian gun battles were even more unrealistic since the only person the stormtroopers could shoot was the person wearing full body armor.
Also, just so y’all know, I love the Mandalorian. It’s such an awesome show
Yeah. That always bothered me a bit., I mean.. They have blasters.. A RANGED WEAPON. And yet they either charge towards the enemy until they either get shot or they reach the characters at basically melee range and then get knocked out in melle, Orrr they just pretend to aim until they get shot, and when they do aim they can't hit shit... Or they hit the one guy who has blaster resistant armour lol.
There was no tension in season 2 of Mandalorian because how many times he got shot.
@@darthpalpalzang7914 especially when they rushed boba who was only armed with a melee weapon…
@@opticalorange2316 lol yeah. Was still sick though.
Hunter also extended his arm during the duel, like how a soldier would. Special forces soldiers even in real life never fire straight from the hip like how Cad did. Hunter was just shooting the way he was trained
yeah he was shooting useing a technique made for accuracy and precision rather than speed.
This isn’t true at all. SF and LE train to draw their sidearm and hip fire to quickly get shots on target when someone is within close range and poses an immediate threat. There’s so many videos on the internet of people in the special forces community doing this.
@@leosburner1199 well this isnt real life
@@leosburner1199 and I watch TONS of US SF vids... I've NEVER seen what you're talking abt performed by any of them
@@skoshitempest it's a close range tactic, that's why you don't see it often. If they're close enough that you don't need to aim, mistakes were made. But the goal is to start shooting first, so as soon as your sidearms out of the holster you're shooting until you get into a better stance
I don’t think Crosshair is wearing his old armor. I think they made him brand new armor and it’s also probably just as cheap as most phase 2 clone armor.
Does explain how he was able to get pretty messed up. I think his original armor would have protected him a little bit more
I'm honestly thinking he's wearing some sort of prototype death trooper armor. It's likely better than phase 2 or the new stormtrooper armor, but not as good as it will eventually be
You are right cuz in season 3 when they meet again wrecker gives him his old armor and says it seemed wrong to get rid of it. The batch kept it for crosshair
Apparently, Wrecker’s plot armor is bugged, so he periodically gets shot
😂 the big guy can take the hits for the team I guess
Its a trope called the Worf effect, where you establish how powerful an enemy is buy having him defeat one of the good guys, typically the Big Guy who is usually the one who is the strongest and so it becomes more of an "oh this is bad" when the guy you can expect to carry the team through the fight goes down momentarily.
Named after Worf from Star Trek who despite being the big strong security chief born of a race well known for their strength in melee still winds up getting his ass beat on the regular by the new big bads of the week when they first show up and board.
I just wanna say that for commandos they seem to have gotten rid of their shields. Even Gregor didn’t have shields when he got shot in season 5. I guess they just have the armor in cannon.
Thing is, the shields have to be charged, and given how long Gregor's armour just laid around (after enabling him survive his arrival to that planet) I'd argue that his shields were depleted.
I got no argument for BB tho, aside from what Allen already said.
@@eXhaustedWisdom Well, there's a chance some things will be decannonized soon...
Anyways, things are better now than they were before Mandalorian, Bad Batch, and the Final Season of Clone Wars. Those were all pretty good additions that definitely help forget that the sequels are still cannon... At least for now.
@@olafgurke4699 A depleted shield would recharge. Of course it could have been burned out.
As for thee bad batch, they may have just had more basic katarn armor without the shields, as they were just defective clones and not commandos.
@@danielboatright8887 Well, they are structured as a Commando Squad, are used like one, and operate like one. I'd say they most certainly are considered as Commandos. But their armour is severely modified, so who knows what modifications there really have been made.
Well, Scorch had his shield when he attacked Batchers and Gregor.
Finally!! Some armor in Star Wars that can survive more than one blaster hit besides beskar
Anything named after Kyle Katarn is inherently superior to the standard issue equipment. Just because it carries his name.
I think the helmet flying issue is actually a design feature. Helmets are surprisingly heavy for your neck and spine to support on top of a 10 pound mass with poor leverage, and most fatalities and head/neck injuries involved in explosions or vehicle crashes are from that weight snapping and whipping your neck around.
That why its important to get the proper light weight type of helmet which provides the best in protection and gives neck and head reflexology protection.
Fit and design with the dynamics of modern helmet is the reason many survive. With minimal head and neck injuries
@@raymondkisner9240 I say again, *fatalities* and head/neck injuries*. The US Army has helmets inside a vehicle as a unit to unit policy because people keep getting killed by their helmets in crashes.
@@raymondkisner9240 those aren't exactly shrapnel or bullet-resistant. The army has been desperately trying to make those for a century now, to no avail. The current kevlars are still the best we got, and still kill people in rollover incidents.
I’d love to see Kyle Katarn adapted into one of these shows

Man... When are they gonna bring him in? I'm hoping they do, he was a pretty dang cool character. Corran Horn too.
I'm fairly certain that instead of ruining his inhibitor chip it was the point of no return. Lets not forget that Tarkin wanted him loyal past the chips normal constraints and he's been living with this modified chip. I think that ion blast has the potential to make it so he cannot live without the inhibitor. Cue the death trooper theories or perhaps a final stand where Crosshair can apologize and say what he truly means but has no control over his actions like Rex in Clone Wars but this time he would need to be put down.
I hope that is how Bad Batch Ends.
4:35 Every single time I see that clip I can't stop looking at that clone on the left that gets shot but they apparently forgot to add a blaster bolt hitting him.
My God, I'd never seen that. The guy behind the airborne trooper right?
he did get shot he got hit in the neck, it’s a very short period of a blast around his neck
@@turtlemasteralpha3320 yeah you're right, he does take a shot that hits near his neck or shoulder.
Did a solid projectile hit him because there were some sparks coming from the armor
What a lot of people don’t get is when a clone gets shot they usually don’t die. The regular phase 1 and phase 2 armor was made of a lightweight plastoid alloy that was designed to disperse the energy of a laser blast throughout the armor. Blasters were extremely powerful, which is why you see the clones getting knocked back when they get shot. It was still painful for them to get shot and they would sometimes get knocked out, but due to the excellent design of the armor, most clones you see get shot end up surviving.
People sleep on the reg armor quite a bit.

Clone/storm trooper armor is very similar to our modern day body armor; it is designed to slowdown the incoming projectiles or provide a glancing blow. Bullets produce kinetic energy on impact, so modern body armor just as the clone/storm trooper armor tries to disperse the energy across the body. Modern body armor isn't bulletproof but provides an extra layer that bullets need to pass.

Should also be noted that in Episode 14 a clone commando takes 5 shots to the chest from DC-15s Blaster Carbines and was still alive and well despite being shot 5 times in rapid succession.
And Gregor Katarn Armor not only took several shots from E-5s, and Droideka's, DC-15s and a giant explosion.
Then you have Commando's in the EU jumping on grenades, taking point blank rounds from shatter guns ( which are basically railguns ) and tanking shots up to light cannon rounds.
So yeah Katarn armor was pretty fricking durable and when you had a halo style regenerating deflector shields the armor was pretty awesome at stopping lethal damage.

Yavin IV ceases to exist that’s what happens
clone commando RC-8015 (Fi) jumped on a thermal detonator while wearing Katarn stealth kit (A derivative of Mark III usually referred to as Mark IV) he got rattled around a little bit before getting back up and continuing the fight, later on, while still in Katarn class commando armor it saved his life (barely as he suffered such a severe TBI that a medical droid thought he was brain dead.) after he took almost direct fire from some form of friendly artillery, likely the turbo-lasers of Venator class star destroyer his squadmate Darman who was about 15 feet from him was knocked over and incapacitated for a few seconds before getting back up both of them were able to walk back to a gunship before Fi collapsed unconscious.
The Republic Commando book series explains the Katarn pattern armor as having environmental seals, and life support measures that seem to be missing from The Bad Batch. Weird that their helmets can be knocked off so easily.
As soon as you said that bane's hands are some of the quickest in the galaxy and superior to either of the fetts is when I subscribed, cad bane is so underrated love seeing him in the bad batch

In the RC novels, they get hit by blaster shots and don't go down, and that was in the first novel, with only Mk I Katarn armor.
I love your intros and outros. 😆😎💪
Very well made !
Leia's space flight isn't plot armor. Her surviving an explosion thanks to a table protecting only her, that's the plot armor. But her flight is not.
That moment you’re so badass, you get armor named after you before you’re even born. 😆
Everyone keeps talking about the ion engine frying Crosshair's inhibitor chip, i'm wondering where the hell that even came from? The inhibitor chip is known to be on the right side of the head, Crosshair takes most of the damage from the ion engine on the left side of his head and face.
Furthermore, he immediately gives the command to keep after them and not let them escape while getting bandaged up. I don't get it, why do people think the ion engine somehow destroyed his chip?
One of the Commandos in Omega Squad takes a viscous fall in his Katarn armor and it puts him in a coma. They said the armor had protected him from injury but it was still like rolling down a hill in a cardboard box and mashed up his brain.
In Legends Fi jumps on a grenade and survives intact, it takes an entire building exploding to do any damage, he still lives though.
It would be a better character arc for Crosshair if the Bad Batch remove his chip and he still follows orders regardless.
Damn, that's excatly what happened
I love echos helmet it’s the coolest by far IMO
Same but he's visor seems impractical because of how small it is
I love delta squad built in deflector sheild katarn armor. That's cool. A bit heavy but at least your safe.
The thing about armor, no matter how tough it may be, even if it can protect you from all external threat, it can not protect the wearer from the armor when the armor is getting knocked and bounce around with the wearer getting knocked and bounce around by the armor they are wearing. Much better than getting hit directly by energy or projectile weapons but it still hurts and you can still get bruised and cut and bones broken.
The Mandalorian: *takes the same amount of blaster fire that would overload a droideka's shield*
Also the Mandalorian: "That's going to hurt for a while."
About a month late but frankly having a helmet not strapped on is abit safer then having it strapped on, one main reason is the force behind a shot could in fact hit the helmet which causes the force and impact of the shot to be transferred to the helmet itself which as we know crosshair didn’t get shot but his helmet flew off at such a speed it would of either broke his neck or completely crushed his jaw and probably more if it was strapped on
Avg police distance during a gunfire situation is 3m. Avg hit rate for police according to police reports is 18%.
"Short-circuit consciousness" I like that
I still think it's an injustice that we never got a proper clone commando arc in the clone wars
Fun Fact: Not only the Katarn armor was named in honor of the famous Hero Kyle Katarn ( even 20 years before he was famous! ), the wookiees even named a dangerous creature of Kashyyyk after the bearded bad-ass.

Really Disappointed that they heavily nerfed the Katarn Armor since in Legends it made them stand out more from the Clone Trooper Armor

But the price of an Katarn armor was the same of an Cruiser when I am correct remember.

I wonder what happens if Katarn has a thin layer of Beskar?
I’m pretty sure it’s like canon now that a 14 year old Boba headshot Cad Bane. Granted he also got headshot but that’s just an advantage of wearing a helmet over a hat

“Those ion engines are pretty deadly” idk why but I laughed at that line
Hey has anyone else noticed that crosshair looks a lot like Dangar after the engin blew up
As awlays, really impressive.. Love looking at the lore of Star wars
The latest episode seemed to made it obvious now that the Kaminoan Uprising is inevitable.
Kaminoans: WE ARE INEVITABLE!
Palpatine: AND I AM ALL THE SITH!
I'm still so bothered by the fact that Tech just strolled into the open and no one stopped him, and I'm even more bothered that Crosshair missed an open shot by such a large margin... I guess the showrunners didn't want to ditch plot armour completely.
Watching this vid post-season 1 finale and I'm betting that glancing shot Crosshair gave Wrecker wasn't a miss at all, but was exactly where Crosshair wanted to hit him. If so, it only reinforces Crosshair's claims that he'd removed his chip or at least that it wasn't controlling him to the extent the empire wanted it to.
Straight up thought I watched Hunter get shot down right in front of me.
Straight up record scratch, jaw open, “no no no no no...” going through my head.
Fuckin hell, was not expecting that.
Have you ever noticed how whilst Mando armour doesn’t cover that much of their body, they always seem to get hit in the beskar, never the body? Maybe beskar draws blaster bolts towards it or something.
or because they have trained in the use of the armor they under stand its weak points and act to minimize exposure of said areas in short they are conditioned to the armor they are wearing. Edit-people forget you cant just put on armor and be as effective with no training as someone with training
Oh so that's why Hunter got knocked out in the duel with cad bane, well it reflected, and looked like he was dead to Omega who probably didn't notice or know this.
The Katarn armor has a hair of Kyle Katarn's beard woven into the armor plates, making it invincible.
Armor named about one of the greatest Rebel and New Republic heroes just must be quite special.
I think crosshairs blunt force from the engine disabled entirely or damaged the inhibitor chip at least, at least the intensification of the chip. Let me explain
In the first episode when nala se and tarkin brought crosshair to the med lab, they said the order does appear to be working but isn’t fully active as a regular clones. They intensified the program after and he turned into more dark and serving to the empire and less to his squad.
Remember the first episode he did try and execute order 66 to Caleb dume. But all the others didnt. I think that’s due to him only having super marksman skills while most of the others are physical enhancements.
The force of the engine either disabled the chip entire or just the intensification. After once he realized he was maybe free from the inhibitor chip or at least more free then he was, he chose to stay with the empire on his own free will. He thought because he was better than the regs, he would get special treatment or something. He said “this is who I am” to omega in the last episode of season 1 and the I’m not sure if it’s true, but he did say he had his chip removed in the second last episode of season 1 but provided no proof.
Now onto season 2, Once crosshair realized on his own how wrong he was about the empire, he turned on the empire but could not face his old squad. Just warn them the empire is after omega to at least try to makeup for what he did. So he chose to betray the empire and accept the consequences for his actions. Until omega arrives on mount tantis. She still believes in crosshair and that they can get out together. Even contact wrecker and hunter. I think he may see this as redemption. help omega escape and give him his chance to rejoin his squad for all the mistakes he made.
Meanwhile, regular Stormtrooper's armor:
"How does this protect us from harm?"
"That's the neet part, it doesn't" :D
Haha That was a good intro.
Clone Force 99’s armor seems like a less advanced than Gregor’s or Delta Squad’s armor bc they don’t have personal shields. Maybe it’s a Mark 2, or maybe they gave them the less advanced version bc they were the odd balls that no one expected to succeed?
8:16 I agree.
So the commandos were basically ODST minus the drop? Cool, fun fact I’m reading a fanfic where Johnson ends up in the Clone Wars and he forms the Republics first ODST squad
With the fact that Clone troopers and Storm trooper armour can knock them out getting hit, just makes me think about how Commander Thorn took multiple shots and didnt go down after his first.
As explained by Darth Plagueis, high skill with weapons and luck in battle are manifestations of Force aptitude, even if it isn't enough to make one a psychic. Han Solo is capable of death defying stunts in battle because he has a higher than average midi-chlorean count, though as I said, it's still not enough to make him sensitive to the Force. Well, that and his stubbornness. For all we know, he could be a Jedi if he'd open his mind to the prospect of letting the Force guide him.
I played airsoft the other day, me and my friends were pinned down, some guy rushed us and didn’t hit a single one of us, he goes “how did I not hit any of you” we all responded “plot armor”
i really dont like how recker got so easily knocked out because ''ooh shes good in hand to hand combat'' like first, obviously the armor that can protect you from a multiple story high fall, but also recker being superhumanly strong, and trained as a clone comando, like he usually seems childish and not super bright but in combat hes clearly effective, he isnt just a brute, but there he gets knocked out just like one
i mean, the fact she is good in hand to hand combat is a perfectly valid reason?? doesnt matter how big and strong someone is, a blow to the head is dangerous, and can very easily be fatal, and knocking someone out when you slam their head against a pipe, using his momentum as he dashed towards her pretty damn fast, is pretty damn easy
Crosshair both does not miss and also could have easily finished wrecker off, he’s still in there lads
Do you think the same logic applied to Rex back when he got sniped in the chest?
I was playing SWG:Legends the other day and I’ll tell you. They do not stop blaster bolts.
I just had to say this, Generation Tech looks identical to the Korean store owner from Falling Down
Loving the cuts of Republic Commando
Imagine if they made a suit of katarn Armor with beskar. Just imagine the engineering and beskar armor plating.
Clone force 99 still gets knocked by blasters even having armor while our plot armor boys with just a shirt eat blaster shots for dinner.
i cant be the only one who loved seeing cad bane
just remember that the weapons used by the security droids, Crosshair and Cad Bane use different level weapons in that order
Nah Crosshair's sniper rifle would be more powerful than Mr Bane's pistol
Wrecker is the demolition member of the group - perhaps he's got more armor due to this role.
