    • @brucecook502
      @brucecook502 2 роки тому

      I think the only way smaller stinging insects could defeat those giant hornets is only if they are smart enough to surround and cover them and basically bake them alive like we have seen done in other videos featuring giant hornets trying to go into the home of killer bees. Besides that, I do not see even a yellow jackets Nest no matter how large being able to withstand a genocide attack by giant hornets because the bodies of those Hornets are just too darn hard like armor for the yellow jackets to even cause harm giant hornets. I would imagine though that a small number of giant hornets would get tired and Retreat long before they could kill off all of the yellow jackets in a nest of that size.

      Bryn Then I know. It really disturbs and disgusts me that so many people immediately think "eeew! Evil wasps that string people! They must all be destroyed!" Narrow minded retards... And they have the nerve to call anyone who disagrees "naive" for caring about these creatures because of how dangerous they are. News flash - though wasps are very aggressive and they /WILL/ chase you very far out of their territory, you still have to approach them in the first place. These things aren't some kind of hive of terrorists that literally plot to invade up through the states and launch attacks on cities. They're just a group of insects doing what they're doing to survive. Or they were until we decided to kill them.

      listen wasps serve no purpose in the food chain they produce a very low nectar which means they do a bad job at being bees they can kill (depending on species) and ect

    If these wasps are in a remote location and are a native species, why destroy them? Why not rope the area off & let them live so they could be observed from a distance as an incredible, growing, living organism. This is what's happening all around the world, too many beneficial native species are being destroyed. If these wasps ARE a native species, they ARE beneficial to the local environment. Imagine how big it could have got if left alone. cheers

    • @tranq45
      @tranq45 10 років тому +96

      Because nests like that don't stay remote - Civilization comes to them in the form of hikers and campers. Who wants a casual bush-tramp to turn into a horror movie?

    • @mugsyjeff
      @mugsyjeff 10 років тому +10

      Fair enough, I just thought it would be great to have it well roped off so people could give it a very wide berth & at the same time be amazed at the size of it & appreciate the fact that it's a living, growing organism, a native species doing good work in it's natural environment. I reckon I'd go out of my way to go & see something like that.

    • @Guitaristguy
      @Guitaristguy 10 років тому +55

      ***** Wasps are not beneficial. They only feed off of honey bees, killing whole "civilisations" of honey producing bees. That is the yellow jackets only purpose. Wasps aren't beneficial to the nature, honey bees are. If the nest was left alive, it could have been deadly for people and to the wildlife. That kind of nest can kill probably over a 100 horses, for example.
      The empty nest is probably saved so people can go see it somewhere indoors.
      Also, you fucking hippie.

      Pekka Kaukalo
      G'day, thanks for your reply, it should be understood that bees & wasps are both beneficial in their own way. Bees & wasps are both pollinators, so we need them both. Wasps give us a bonus besides pollinating in that they collect & control populations of grubs & caterpillars to feed their young on. Thus removing the need for chemical sprays. It's wrong to upset natures balance by killing off one part of the equation. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's impossible to leave wasp nests alone, where people are likely to get stung. I encourage people to kill nests if they're in a walkway, etc. But in a remote area, why not just let them do what nature designed them for? cheers

    Every animal on this planet has a purpose. Although most of us view wasps as noting more than just harmful they probably have a super useful use that we would've never guessed in our entire life. Meaning if this many died then there would be a huge drop on some chart and then before you know it the entire forest is in ashes. No, I'm over exaggerating but you get the point. :)
