OBS's Filters Guide:

Audio Device Filters
Compressor
A compressor will automatically lower the source's volume to reduce the likelihood of it peaking above 0dB, which can cause clipping and distortion. Note. A source can still exceed 0dB with a compressor if your input level is too loud, your ratio/threshold are set incorrectly or you apply too much output gain.
Sidechain Compression/Ducking
Sidechain compression, also known as Ducking, can be used to make room for your voice when speaking over-top of music and games by lowering your desktop audio when you speak.
Expander
An expander can be used to reduce background noises such as computer fans, mouse/keyboard clicks, breathing and unwanted mouth noises. An expander can be used in place of a gate for noise reduction, they can produce a smoother open and close due to having an adjustable ratio whereas a gate is a fixed. An expander makes quiet sounds quieter and typically would be placed near the end of your filter chain, after any compression/other effects but before a Limiter.
Gain
Gain should generally be applied at the source before it reaches OBS, but if needed the gain filter can help with very quiet audio sources to increase the output volume.
Invert Polarity
Used to correct phase cancellation issues.
Limiter
Limiters are used to prevent an audio signal from peaking above 0dB which can cause clipping and distortion. A limiter is a special type of compressor with a very fast attack and a very high ratio.
- Threshold: The maximum output level an audio signal can hit, no signal can exceed this level.
- Release: Because a limiter is a compressor it applies gain reduction to brick-wall the output level. If and when a signal tries to exceed the threshold, the release is how quickly the limiter will stop gain reducing after the level drops below the set threshold.
When using a Limiter it should be the last filter in your chain.
Noise Gate
The Noise Gate allows you to cut off all background noise while you are not talking. Select a close threshold above the noise volume and an open threshold slightly below your voice input to get good results.
Noise Suppression
The Noise Suppression filter can be used to remove mild background noise or white noise that may be in any of your audio sources. While this is generally not effective at large amounts of background noise (i.e. in a loud room) it can be quite effective at reducing things like PC fan noise or other environmental noises.
0 is off. The further you move the slider to the left, the 'stronger' the filter will be, and the more sounds it will filter out. Keep in mind that this can distort other sounds (like your voice).
The filter supports NVIDIA Noise removal. This requires an RTX GPU and downloading the redistributable of its SDK www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/....
v28 and later: Support added for NVIDIA Room Echo Removal. This is a dereverb fx to get rid of sound reflections in a room.
VST Plugin
OBS Studio supports many VST2.x plugins. Adding a VST plugin is as simple as adding any other audio filter, but there are some limitations. VST1.x, VST3.x, MIDI control/input in VST plugins, and shell VST plugins are not supported at this time. We have not tested all plugins, and some VST plugins may cause crashes. Make sure you save and back up any settings to avoid loss of data when experimenting with VST. Lastly, always keep an eye on CPU usage, some VST plugins can be very CPU hungry! - Навчання та стиль
3:31 "cannot listen to voice while changing"
im not sure if this works but
1) open audio mixer settings
2) find you mic
3) change "Moniter Off" to "Moniter and Output"
now you should able to hear ur mic while adjusting all the settings in the vid
I wish I met you before I wasted over an hour recording and playing back my voice 😂😂😂 thanks dude this is extremely helpful. When I update this video I'll be sure to include it.
Pinpointed my exact problem :)
I can hear myself but everyone else can’t hear me. When I’m on Xbox. I have to turn my headset on. How do i only use my mic?
For anyone wondering why their stream has echo change the monitor and output to monitor only
@@themrnoob0is this in the built in default windows audio mixer if yes I can't find it. I also can't find those options in OBS audio>monitoring device feature. What's the source of the audio mixer in what app?
I was watching this video and then my neighbor came and we watched it together. He said this post really changed his life and it touched my heart. Then I put it on a big screen so my whole village can watch it and said this really made a big difference in their lifes. 🙏✌️❤️
omg aren't you the dude who uploads shorts? A bunch of them have been recommended to me :o
Hehe what’s next?😂
I've always had a terrible audio quality and a few years back i bought a mic but could still never get the settings right, i just always thought i needed a fancy mixer but following these settings have been a god send, the quality has massively improved so just wanted to say thanks and i subbed as well :)
This is awesome because I never realized OBS had these filter settings in the first place. I regularly use Compressors and Limiters in Adobe Premier Pro so knowing you can also do those in OBS first is amazing! Thank you for the very informative, updated video!
I have ocd disorder and i cant stop something unless i feel it is perfect for me. I spent 10 hours trying to find the right setup and you straight up nailed it. subscribed
This dude helped me out so much. I've been having trouble with audio issues in obs
Thanks man and now my audio sounds better thanks to you for this I will subscribe to you for helping me and everyone else😁
Thanks this helped alot I can finally hear my voice clearly over my loud game audio.:D
I have been streaming with obs for 18 months. I never knew it was the noise supression that was cutting my voice off when I go live. THANKS for this.
No problem dude! Gotta love OBS making a dumb setting like this as default 😂🙏
thanks bro this is going to make my streams so much better
10/10 video. Out of all the tutorials I watched, this one definitely made my voice sound the cleanest.
That's awesome!! :D happy recording!
amazing video ty! :)
Woah 10000 thanks to you dthis video is very interesting and very informative and it helped me a lot with my mic settings!!!
best tutorial there is for this. thanks!
An awesome video that’s entertaining and fun to watch on top of being incredibly informative and useful. 😁👍👍
Cheers to you, my man! 🥃🥃
Love this guy! The humor is top notch
brilliant!
This is the best video om UA-cam for this. I have had these issues for 2 years and this 100% fixed them all. I have suggested this video to tons of people. Keep making great content.
Thank you so much!!! I'm happy you solved the issues :D
@@shogoz they did and I have watched hundreds of videos and this video really works. The filters are perfect and I have not even adjusted to my own settings on Marvel I'm using yours. Thanks for posting this.
man thank you so much for this definitely fixed my 3 day problem in 7 mins
Im going on year 10 and my audio still suck I have a ver professional setup audio interface and decent quality mic but I can’t for my life get good audio! Please help me please it’s stunting my growth
Came for the tutorial, subbed for the humour! Thank you so much for your help!
You're welcome!! I hope your weekend is awesome!! :D
i love how hes explain stuff while the game audio is much louder then his voice but without this we wouldn't know how much of a problem that actually is
It pained me to do so tbf but if I didn't show examples noone would be able to really see the benefit haha. Hope you have a great weekend dude!
Oh I wondered why my voice was cutting off. RNNoise was the reason. Thank you!
Yo thanks Shogoz, i didn't even know OBS had a sidechaining option. Nice video 🥶
Welcome dudeeeeeeeeeeeee and thank you! :D
Many thanks for your great work my friend, like 67
5:07 Thanks for this for some reason mine was set at 54% and it became obvious why I was having to apply +25db of digital gain in OBS. I am now at just +1db after changing the mic volume to 100%.
You're a fucking blessing my dude, first you help me actually understand the nvidia control pannel instead of just telling me what to do and now this right as im getting off of a hiatus from streaming, best timing ever.
Since i have new laptop now i can use your tutorial this help me thx
I'm glad dude!! Hope you've been well :D
THANK YOU sorry for caps but you hepled me a lot 🙂
your content is awesome!!
I am so thankful for this being
Tysm Jordan!!
All this is game changing. Thank you. Only one problem, RNNOISE works but Speex is busted. But I have a condenser mic, I'll see what happens with a dynamic mic.
I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your humor
Really enjoy your vids as they are very informative. I followed all the info on this one but my mic still sounds like its in a small concrete tunnel 🙃 lol I use a Razer Sieren Mic

THATS WHY MY VOICE CT OUT WHEN I SCREAMED... thankyou so much :)

That caught me so of guard 💀💀
Nice
this will help me create better content thank you ❤
OMG IT'S ZAYMEX!! I can't wait for more of your videos telling people why Apple is garbage and that people should only buy Samsung because it's superior in every way :)
Is there a good filter to remove the background noise of my keyboard? I have one of the mechanical keyboards, so it is really annoying when recording audio for a game and having keyboard sounds in the background
Thank you for that, i adjust all of these setting to my Kingston Hyperx Solocast, but the result is not too fine, its not sound like your mic :(
omg we miss so much your awesome videos!! :D please we need ya back in action - especially what you got finally time for that AMD driver best setting config presenation, such as were the nVidia awesomenes ones from you...
Miiiister Sebastien!! :D missed you too dude. Hopefully I'll get a laptop with an AMD gpu eventually so I can take a look at those settings!
@@shogoz Yes please !
ight you made me laugh with that mic check at the beggining you get a Like sir🤣
I have a question… My mic on discord sounds very clean, however when I use recording/streaming software like obs or Xbox game bar, my mic sounds much different and muffled. I’ve tried a ton of things however im still unsure on how to fix this. Any possible help?
There is nothing worse than trying to speak over zombies. They are unnecessarily loud but you have done an excellent job to overcome their noisiness with your tips. This should help to stop a zombie apocalypse now :)
Thank you so much dude 😂
love the "YOOOOOOO"
Ooh the ducking is nice!
Thanks John!! :D
Best audio settings ive found for 2023
good
Pro tip, for the equalizer you can listen to your own voice while you adjust those settings by wearing a headset, go into obs, then mic settings, then turn audio monitoring on.
turn off when you're done listening to yourself
Great sharing dear, like 66 and fully watched
Nice video my friend,like 65
You really @'d me before you even got to 2 minutes xD
Yep that was my problem where enabling the RNNoise cut out my laughs
2:35 g😮nna try that 👍
1:09 how do you get your shouting to stay at the yellow bar? i copied but it still goes all the way to the 0
Can u put a download link to ur marvel geq settings
Yes, this is what i needed. Thanks obs daddy 😛
Doughhhhhhhhhhh
@@shogoz i believe tonight!! Scary vids again! 😍
Hopefully I'm awake when you stream! 🎅
@@shogoz you stopped streaming too? 😭
Bro can you please share your bess voice settings
I agree. RNNoise makes my mic sound terrible and washy
i cant beleive he posted in 2 months mans on the yt grind
see you again in 2099 dude 😂 I hope you've been well!
@@shogoz always have man 🥲🐐
These settings are good but can someone help me? My mic is a blue yeti and I followed everything except the plug in cause I don’t need it, but I can still hear a lot of background noise like my controller or chair squeaking
3:24 i have a problem when i prees in `please select a plug in` theres is no choeses i can choose
Im going on year 10 and my audio still suck I have a ver professional setup audio interface and decent quality mic but I can’t for my life get good audio! Please help me please it’s stunting my growth
Ahh yes another one portion of, some funny gifs with tutorial on the side
"Change it to your HardDickDrive" caught me offguard, ngl xD.
1 Thing tho, when i listen to my self on discord it isnt the same how can i make it so that its the same on every talking platform
Yoooooo my man🤘🤣
Dude i still cant finde nvidia Image resolution upscaler in my nvidia control panel with latest drivers🥲 what should i do? 😮💨(laptop rtx 2070 super)
I'm glad you can't find them because they're garbage settings to use
No dude not those ones
Imean i wanna play at 4k but ihave a 1080P monitor right?😅
But i cant super sample the res
Weird question, but I use a controller while gaming, and so far each time I record the mic picks up the sounds of my fingers smashing the poor controllers buttons. How can I stop my mic from picking up those sounds while also still being able to record full gameplay audio?
Which mic have you got??
@shogoz okay I thought I replied but guess not lol. I have a Maono usb mic from Amazon.
If you use audition or audacity try selecting where it makes the noise and add some noise reduction. tbf though I'm surprised the gameplay doesn't mask the sound
Finally, I can earrape in HD
yesssiiirrrr maybe in the future we can get 4k quality
bro renamed RDR to GTA 6😂😂
Okay you got me with that one 3:15, never underestimate a surprise Japanese dog fisting
Really helpful videos man
Helped Me Out Alot Bro Dropped A Like/Sub Thanks Bro
Bro which is best Mic in or Line in I have boya bym1 mic which is best for my mic🥲
I think I rememeber u having a 2070. why not use Nvidia Broadcast for noice supression?
That's a good point! I personally don't need it but I can imagine people with a bunch of background noise loving to use that feature. I'll remember your comment and include how to make Nvidia's noise suppression appear in OBS in any updated tutorial I make for this video if I see people struggling with the noise suppression setting I use - thanks a lot dude that's really helpful!!!
My expensive mic was working perfectly just plug and use it until the latest OBS update. Now I can not fix it with any settings. This is a nightmare. Sounds horrible.
Idk if I’m explaining this correctly but the filters that I currently have whenever I talk some of my words or letters will cut off while I’m talking, my Samsung mic is decently close to my mouth about 5 inches away.
Which filters do you have on? If you've got a noise gate it's probably that my dude!
@@shogoz Might be that, I’ll have to re do all my filters and try the ones you got.
My GEQ isnt being reconized what can i do?
The vonxengo marvel wont show up in my vst plugins still searching why T.T
Only reason OBS wouldn't be able to find it is if the plugin wasn't installed in the default location. Every time OBS starts it checks certain folders for any new plugins. So when a plugin is installed in a different location, it won't be able to find it unfortunately.

😂😂😂😂🙏
😂
Is that a couple of Loli games at the bottom of your desktop? Or am I just watching in poor quality? 👀👀
Also, good tutorial! lol
Oh wait, nevermind the whole desktop is full of jokey jokes XD
Speex is absolute trash. It doesn't supress anything. I want my typing/clicking GONE. But Speex does jack all to get rid of that. Even RNNoise doesn't do much. :/ Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I hate settings. I am so stressed just trying to deal with this crap.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. I used to have a blue yeti which picked up everything. I'd just position it between me and the keyboard (so the keyboard is behind it. I have a boom arm which made it easier) then in your case I'd probably use speex to mask as much as i could without sacrificing too much quality for it to be noticeable, and then I'd mask the rest of the sounds with the gameplay leveling I use in this video.
@@shogoz Gameplay leveling? I've tried the presets but you can still clearly tapping on my desk, clicking my keyboard (flat keys), and clicking of my mouse. I dunno what I'm doing wrong, or how else to fix this. Could you help me directly somehow? Discord? aaaaa-
@@shogoz Also I have no boom arm. And I have very limited desk space so I can't position the mic between me and keyboard without making it tough to type/do much. And having it like this is awkward and STILL does not get rid of or lessen typing/clicking. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
my microphone must be especially crappy or something i dont know
Using Speex doesnt work properly for me, possibly cause its a budget mike? Anyway the only way ive found to remove background noise is to use.
Pushing the volume of it to 100 seems to really make it freak out and sound like shit
Sorry to hear that dude, which headset mic do you have? Is it possible it sounds bad because pushing the volume to 100 makes the gain TOO high for the mic? Since you don't have a gain dial it's probably best to think of the 'levels' in windows sound control panel as the gain. Raise the level while talking normally until you just reach the top of the yellow line, then stop raising it. Maybe do this after adding the VST plugin. If that doesn't work feel free to join the Discord if you need more help discord.gg/cdtYsepDbk
@@shogoz its actually a budget microphone, a Trust GXT 232, the kind of microphone you used to be able to find on the cheap in gamestop.
Been trying to build up to the actual good stuff but its a bad period with money fo real fo real.
Ah yep I understand :S Sorry to hear that you're going through a tough period with money dude. Things will get better! Here's hoping it's soon!
hey i know it's been a long time. " SK4869 " just wish that i din't stay away so long. we never ever forget our dearest friends... Shogoz Rocks ;-)
