    A highlight of 2020 was coming across your channel. Love the direct no nonsense clear approach. Kudos

    I wish they'd released this model at the start as I prefer its appearance to the other versions. It is unfortunate that the inner cap isn't completely clear. I think the Eco pens are excellent for the price with good nibs. Mine are always ready writers. Perfect to leave in your bag or at the office. I think they make nice gifts. Thanks for another fine review, Stephen. I gotta get me a bottle of that ink!

    That`s a great looking pen. I seem to really love clear pens these days after really not liking them at all when I first started buying pens. It`s odd how your preferences evolve.

    Thanks for the review. I prefer extra fine nibs on my pens, and i have found the TWSBI nibs to be among the finest of all the pens I have. I have actually put TWSBI nibs from a broken VAC 700....

    Oh, I prefer the facets, too. I find the 580 to be a real workhorse and worth its reasonable price.

    I have the fine nib eco and unlike your finding at the end of the video, it performs reverse writing very well and gives an extra fine line. It is the best fountain pen I have used so far, but found it difficult to reassemble once taken apart using the wrench.

    Thanks for showing how this pen posts. I had considered one of these, up until I saw that. I wish pen makers would make a decent posting pen, for those who prefer them, as I certainly DO. I like a pen that posts securely, and deeply, without being too long, or unbalanced. I love clear pens because I like to see the ink color, and the ink level. I would also like a clear view of the nib.

    Great review. This is the model I have but in a F. It is great. This pen should give Lamy a run for its money. It is solid and a solid writer. Thanks Stephen.

      It gives not only the Lamy a run for its money, but also many much more expensive pens.

    The TWSBI Eco. I have four of them. They are the yardstick by which all other pens are measured.

      Seriously, try and name a better pen for the money. For $30, you get a beautiful piston-fill demonstrator that writes flawlessly. And the inner cap is very nice - the pen doesn't dry out even when I only use it infrequently. The Pelikan equivalent, the M205, costs $160 and you don't even get a gold nib at that price. So yeah, name a better value for a money.

    Hello,
    This pen looks to be a pretty good ‘working’ pen to be used at work and or anywhere as an EDC with no problems of losing it.

    Twisbi EF in the clear Eco is significantly finer that older EF nibs
    The tipping on the nib is much less noticeable

    To be honest, I think in all of your TWSBI Eco reviews you do not do justice to the pen. I can not overestimate how awesome this pen is, especially considering the price.
    The look/shape may not be to everyones taste, but technically this pen is truly unique in this price range. I never had a pen that affordable with such a built quality and with so much tought thru details. Not even remotely. Technically. it is much better made than a Pelikan M200 or M400 (of course it lacks the gold parts).
    I even would go that far to say there is no equally built pen up to the $100 mark, except TWSBI's own pricier models. (I dont know every pen, so I may be wrong there)
    One more thing: I know, "cheaper" is a relative term, but I think any word with "cheap" in it (except the price) is kind of inappropriate when it comes to the ECO. ;)
    Anyway, critcism aside, I absolutely love your and Azizah's work! Keep it up!

    Hello there, Stephen. I have owned a TWSBI ECO since January and It has been sitting since March because My only bottle of ink had been used up. All My other pens are cartridge converter pens and I had a bunch of cartridges to use with them, so buying a bottle of ink was not a great priority for me. Anyway, could you please make a disassembly guide for the ECO? By the way what do you think of the Diamine Majestic Blue ink?

    • @sbrebrown
      @sbrebrown  8 років тому +2

      Yes, I'll try to record one. I've never used Diamine Majestic Blue.

    Relatively unrelated Question for Azizah/Stephen: how bad is the smell of Copper pens (like TT Gist or Karas pens). Does it stay on your fingers for hours ? Is it as invasive and strong as Noodler's ? Thanks

    • @sbrebrown
      @sbrebrown  8 років тому

      It definitely stays on your fingers for a while.

    I thank you for your quick response! Actually, I am trying to return this pen which I purchased through Amazon and the company is refusing to pay for return shipping as they don't' feel that there is anything wrong with their EF which is performing as a med nib. They are indicating that if I don't like it, this is an issue of my own preference. I am shocked by their response. I had received a quote from UPS for nearly $10 but the company did advise me of a $2 alternative. It just seems like a customer relations issue which could easily be resolved for $2 rather then saying something insulting to customers. I think that your viewers should be aware of 1. the discrepancy between the advertised EF nib and how it functions (at least in my case) and 2. the customer relations approach of TWSBI. Thanks for your reviews, however. I was actually impressed with what you posted. With my handwriting style, I can not use anything but an Extra Fine nib.

      I think in future avoid Amazon if possible. Goulet's customer service is better, but I'm not too sure about their return policies. However, they are definitely more friendly than the Amazon seller you described.

    Ash yes TWSBI has succumbed to mass volume selling of a cheap oil pen now.. They have gone backwards in quality not forward.Lets be honest how many times do you really need to take a fountain pen apart?I have been using pens for 60 years and have not found the need to do this too often.

    • @MajikkaniHand
      @MajikkaniHand 4 роки тому +1

      I've taken two of mine apart already, and probably should have done so more often! I like to experiment with specialty inks--heavy sheening inks that are "sticky" and incredibly saturated, shimmer inks that have lots of particulates, staining inks, etc. Being able to take the pen apart means that I can "save" the pen much more easily if the ink turns out to be badly behaved. Whether you need to take a pen apart or not probably depends more on your bravery with ink, your patience while cleaning, and your habits (leaving it uncapped, leaving it sitting, etc.--I cap mine religiously but do have a tendency to leave ink in one for longer than I should, especially given how poorly behaved some of my inks are) than it does the build quality of the pen itself. I must say that I've been very happy with both the quality and the performance of my TWSBI ECO pens so far, especially considering the price point. It's gotten to the point where although I have numerous other pens from different brands, the TWSBIs are the only pens I actually carry and use on a daily basis.

    Hey Stephen, i have a question for you. I had ordered a TWSBI extra fine nib pen based much on your review. When I received the pen, I found that the nib performed much more like a medium nib which is unacceptable for my needs. Have you or others found this to be the case?

    I don't even like a slight flair at end of section near nib--why don't they make that round and make entire section round. The flair at end should be completely ROUND.
    We are not children being forced to write horizontally. People who write POORLY write horizontally. Proper writing is at a slight oblique angle to the page.
    I have attacked many reviewers for this who love Twsbi and don't care that sections are not round all the way. It's idiotic. Lamy Safari, which TWSBI follows, is an idiotic pen for this reason. I will continue to attack these reviewers for accepting the stupid flair and indentations at end of sections near nib.

      Vegan Minimalist Mark yeah, I've really grown to love demonstrators, too, especially with well-shades inks.
