Thank you for a wonderful review! I have several of the blue and smoke versions and they’re really usually my go to workhorse pens. I’ve gifted a few to friends who were new to fountain pens and they love them as well.
They write wonderfully, they have a generous ink capacity, they’re easy to completely disassemble for maintenance with no tools, and they’re supremely affordable. Filling is much simpler than many pens like my Sheaffer snorkel or TWSBI Vac700R. It’s easier than most piston fillers in my opinion as well.
So far they’ve handled all inks I’ve tried extremely well with one exception. Shimmer particles in Diamine Dragon’s Blood aren’t a problem, but Emerald of Chivor clogged the feed.
If you want a fancy pen, then by all means, get one. If you want a pen that will do nearly everything well without breaking the bank, that won’t unexpectedly run out of ink, that’s easy to maintain, and is simple enough for beginners, I don’t think you can go wrong with a Go 😎

I’ve noticed that Pilot Metros have quietly risen above the $20 USD mark as of late, so this slice of the market is Twsbi’s to win. Pretty neat little pen
Orochi Yagami yeah, ive noticed that too. a year ago i bought a metropolitan for like $12, now theyre above $20 consistently.
It's due to the current growth of the fountain pen community. If you're paying attention to the sub and view count for various FP channels, as well as an influx of new members in other online communities, it's easy to see some basic economic at hand; an increase in demand typically leads to an increase in price, provided the cost of manufacturing remains roughly the same. So, in a way it's kind of a bummer that the pen is increasing in price, but it also sheds some positive light on the future of the FP community.
@@tyh7529 Well, I hope they didn't shoot themselves in the foot. It's generally better to be competetive in the low end market to appeal to new-comers. This way even more people will go for Safari which pains me greatly.

i also hear the converter is no longer included and that was a huge selling point for me personally. $12-15 for a pen with a converter. Meanwhile this is only $18 and it has a way bigger and built in capacity. I love my metropolitans but honestly the TWSBI Go has more nib options and is way cooler. But I guess if you're going for that classic look you have to go for the Metro
I love the TWSBI GO. I have RA, and the lightweight and large size make it very comfortable to use. The filling mechanism is fantastic, as us the ink capacity. Been using it for almost two years, and it has survived daily use, being doing around with my planner, and several drops onto hard flooring. Planning on getting a couple more to try out the different nibs.
I have used this pen weekly now for about a year. All of the initial concerns about the plastic body cracking have not come to pass for me. This is one of my most consistent writers and I am now ordering the clear version. Currently using the blue.
I also love these pens! Mine are daily writers & super comfortable ... I'm amazed they're so affordable!
I've bought three TWSBI Go pens and every one of them (M to B nibs) have been very smooth, great writers.
The plastic on the cap and barrel is quite resilient. It did not crack under my 250lbs accidental step. I think it is the same material as they use for disposable syringes. Very tough but flexible enough!
A kaweco sport clip also fits the cap. It takes some force but it fits and stays put well, if you want a clip for this pen!
I was having flow issues with the twsbi go, in the same broad nib. Been trying to fix it and great that now i saw a reference as to how it can write. Love the simple way it can be filled or cleaned. Shoots water right out, so satisfying
Perfect timing! I was thinking about purchasing a Go yesterday and today, and here's your review! This will be my first TWSBI, but definitely not my first fountain pen. I have more than 40, most of them vintage and a Pilot custom, Sailor 21k zoom, Platinum etc. Thanks for your review!
I held out for the clear and I am loving it! The nib is so smooth and easy to write with. I've also got a nice, juicy broad nib. It's my current everyday writer for my uni work. I love it so much I'm actually going to get another one. One thing I did notice is that the broad nib on the GO is much larger than the braods on the 580's.
The nib and feed is standard like the Eco
The forward grip is comfortable
But the girth of the barrel sits quiet wide in the web of my hand which i find uncomfortable

Thank you for your review . . . I just purchased one and will dedicate to Shimmer Inks / 1.1 NIB . . . and I can attest with my TWSBI 580 ALR 1.1 NIB that the nibs are wet and smooth! Perfect for Shimmer Inks!

Hated the eco, hated the 580, I almost passed on this but wow, this might be my new favorite starter level pen. I love my preppy, but this has way more nib options holds more ink and feels nicer in the hand too

Thanks for the good review! I really like this pen. I have the clear with a medium nib and smoke with 1.1 stub nib. Comfortable, smooth writers, easy to fill and clean. I think they're great pens.
Love also. Only issue is that the ink sometimes splatters on the cap when you take it off and on.
I don't have a "Go" but I have three TWSBI pens and I don't think you can go wrong with any of their products. 🇹🇼
I just received this pen this past week and it had rapidly risen to the top of my other, more expensive fountain pens (Waterman, Pelikan). I initially bought it to try a stub nib and it was a very pleasant surprise!
Your review is spot-on. I got one when they came out with a clear and I realized I could hang it on a lanyard. That turned out to be handy when taking notes during a workshop. The pen is comfortable in the hand and my EF is quite smooth inked up with Super5 Australia. Very happy with it.
What amazes me, is that the pen has a superb price / performance value. That it is a great writer is a fantastic bonus. Must look into purchasing a couple to gift to non FP folks for Xmass.

Wonderful review as usual. I own both a TWSBI Eco and a TWSBI Go. I like the facets on the section of the Eco, they fall right under my fingers and make it feel comfortable. But the section of the Go is wider and the three facets are rotated in such a way that it feels much less comfortable. Is it only me, or did TWSBI really left a nice design in favor of a less comfortable one? I even tried to dismount the nib and rotate it to position it the same way as on the Eco but... no, the feed has a dent on the inside so it's not possible. I know this sounds nerdie but couldn't resist to share my experience!
The Go have the same nib as eco?

I like the Twsbi Go, but my brother decided to throw away the feed and Nib I was drying while wrapped in a cloth. If someone knows where I can get a replacement deed please let me know. I’d really like to use my pen again.

I’ve got several really nice pens, however, I need more of a daily driver. Something that won’t break my heart if I leave it on the counter at the bank or yada-yada.

It is too wide for me to be a comfortable writing pen
no problem, filled then with Rohrer & Klingner SketchINK and they are superb sketching and drawing pens

Bought the 1.1 stub, but there is so much iridium it writes like a 2.0 with rounded edges. Wet, bold, easy to write with - yes. Italic or 1.1 not so much. The Lamy 1.1 is more crisp (still not an Italic, but closer). If you are looking for an Italic Prera from Pilot is extra sharp for a stub. But I find the Prera nibs to be extra fine. For sub $20 I can afford to experiment by using Goulet pens’ micro mesh to flatten the top bulb of iridium to take some the roundness off the edge. Still a Bold from its extra Bold & closer to a calligraphy than not. Good enough to use as a bold in note taking and the Lamy for a 1.1 easy near Italic stub note taker.
Yes the Twsbi 1.1 can be really sloppy, but they are great fun
The Pilot Metro has a 1.1 and it is really crisp, and much less expensive than the Prera
And the nibs are interchangeable
The Kawako 1.1 is also crisp and broad, very bold
@@neemancallender9092 yes, I have Prera, very crisp. My Metro nib is more likely from a Plumix that is less than 1 mm. The Plumix is just a little bolder than the Go.
Don’t get me wrong, Go is a fun and fast writer. It is so close to both of the pilot pens that I had retired it until I found a dark blue black ink from parker that made the Go unique enough to go back into the pool of stub pens. Parker’s Quink is so dry the pen is hard to start in the mornings. But, now is closer to a 1.5 stub. (Sanding the top of the tip with 1.0 grit Mylar polishing sheet also made it crisper.)

4 years into this hobby and I don’t even own a singleTWISBI. Looks like it time. Just one question. Is plunging it in and out of distilled water a sufficient way to thoroughly clean it? Or is a cleaner required?

Got one yesterday partly because of the "fungly" (built-in anti-theft feature ?) part of it ^^
In EF because I know TWSBis are more on German size standards, and in fact I see that with reversed nib the EF seems to write like my Pilot Fs. So normal writing seems to me like a Japanese MF.
It writes beautifully and easily and can really be a "Go"to pen for everyday. The aestetics may not be workplace friendly, though.
The only thing I'm meh about is how wide the section gets, so the pen can't reach the bottom of ink vials (finishing the filling with a syringe after removing the nib and feed works but it somehow defeats the purpose of the filling system) and it may cause problems with narrow bottle necks, but apart from this it's a great EDC pen to me :)

I am thinking to get one (maybe more.. :P) TWSBI GO with broad nib and use it with shimmering inks like J. Herbin 1670 or Diamine Shimmertastic: do you think these kind of inks can work well with this pen? Also, do you know if the feed and the nib are removable and washable, in case of clogging?

I’m finally considering a GO from … /shock// GOulet 😂 and I’m going to fill it with this Dutch Master’s Bruin.
This pen looks like it was designed for students or children. It looks rather juvenile as does the Kakuno. It is "girthy" like a primary pencil so good for smaller hands too. Losing it doesn't break the bank and probably won't show up in the boardroom.
The truth is out there.
does anyone have nib drying out after couple of days problem? or is it ink? never tried diamine macassar before so probably wasn't a great decision to put a new ink in a new pen:)
I usually keep mine inked with Diamine Majestic Blue. It might sit for days between uses, and it never dries out.
Use Noodler's Black in mine, and it doesn't dry out.

TWSBI Does have great designs......however the workmanship and materials are garbage and I don’t care how great their customer services is on replacement parts...... just manufacture a fountain pen that won’t crack, come apart and leak in the first place.

I have never owned a TWSBI pen, but I really don’t like them and I really really dislike this Go. Don’t know why, but for me it’s like the Lamy. I too have never owned one but really really really dislike Lamy. Sorry for the negative line.
