Notes from just doing the spark plug change on my 2011 burgman 650. 1) holding the radiator back with some tie straps helped me a bunch. The radiator kept closing in on my hand. 2) loses up the cable harness from the little tie in the upper left. It's mentioned in the video as well. 3) disconnect the two coil pack connectors and the one sensor connector to the right of the first coil pack. This frees up any interference with the coil packs. The coil packs I though were stuck cane out easy after I disconnected the 3 connectors 4) not sure if it's mentioned in the video but use a magnetic 5/8 spark plug deep well and a short extension that made the job easier. I used one that had a 6 inch swivel extension attached from autozone I needed a new front tire and brake pads so I did it with the tire and fender removed. That probably makes it slightly easier. Joe
Thank you so much for the very informative video's I have saved hundreds of dollars thanks to you. Just changed my spark plugs on a 2009 Suzuki Burgman AN650 7/2/23 and thanks to you my oil filter, oil(both) and coolant.
It's crazy they make you do all that for a simple spark plug replacement. This has sold me on sticking with my Burgman 400. Good video though, as usual.
Just changed my plugs this morning. NEVER did this on a scooter let alone one I just brought home Monday.03 650 with 4485 miles that was sitting in the sellers garage for 3 years. Dead battery, stinky gas very dirty oil. New battery today also. Waiting on my new oil filters to make a change. Took it out for a shakedown run... SCARY FAST for a scooter. Can't wait to ride with my buddies on their Indians & Harleys. Thanks so much for the tips on this video. BIG HELP!
@@ManCaveMayhem Next question. I want to eliminate the seat strut so it will open farther. How do I get to the strut under the seat? Thanks for all the videos.
Hey you guys I really appreciate your video. I just did an oil change and transmission oil change and I'm about to tackle the spark plugs. This will save me time for sure as you guys are correct the manual isn't that great so I'm going to lower my bike off the lift so I can turn the tire first. Cheers from Regina Saskatchewan Canada!
Again thanks it definitely helped. I did everything you guys suggested but the only thing I used different was the tool for the spark plugs that comes with a bike and used I think a 14 mm socket on the end of it. Worked like a charm!
What a nightmare job getting to, releasing the coil, and then re-installing the plug and coil. As far as seating the new plug goes, I have had to guess at the correct amount of pressure to apply as there is no way of getting a 3/8" torque wrench in that gap. Also, you seemed to have more room than me getting your hand to the right hand coil, so next time I do this job, I'm going to disconnect the pivot screws on the right hand side of the radiator just to give that little bit extra room. Just something that I did a little different to you was that I disconnected the coil plug before attempting to remove the left hand coil. I figured it would stress the wiring loom less, but no big deal.
Great Videos. My husband watchs and has a Handy Tip, take the Terminal Nut OFF the spark plug before fitting. The plugs on ours came out, but showing rust on the tip so thought the nut was still stuck in the coil. all ok and the Burgman is running sweet.
I have 2011 with 30K miles and I had to replace the front tire so while it was off , figured I would do the brakes and spark plugs since i could swing the radiator out more. Nopem does not seem to make a difference since the lower coolant hose won't strecth out. Bigger issue issue is I can't get the dang coil pack out. I dont want to force it too much and break it. I may try again later when i can take the radiator off , do a coolant change. Any advice on stuck coil packs ? i hate to just give up. Joe 2011 Burgman 650 exec
Love the videos. Really jealous of the weather and the open roads you guys have there in the states. Here in the north east of England , we only have roads so narrow, you would call them pavements. I have a 2004 AN 650 Burgman, and thanks to watching you, I'm about to do a service on her Any idea on how to solve the oil migration problem from engine to gearbox?(just in case), also have you done a video on changing the air filter yet? Thanks guys
Good tutorial video. I do feel bad for your man, Wes. I would never call a friend of mine an idiot, never mind on a world wide website. (I guess he is ok with it, as he keeps showing up on your vid`s).
Love your videos! I have a 2018 executive, and I dented the radiator putting it on a trailer. The fan stopped working, altogether. I checked if the fan is rubbing, and it's not, after I gave it a little tweek. I checked the fuse, it's good. Any ideas?

I'm working on my 650 and I recommend removing front wheel to do same spark plug replacement, it's more work but it makes a big difference as far as ease is access to the plugs
Thank you from the heart for this video. I would like to have this book on bike maintenance. How do I do that. Are there any websites that sell this book? Thank you. Waiting for more of your explanations on this great bike.
First I would like to say thanks for all the tip and video as they have help me change the oil, spark plugs and transmission fluid. My question is after getting new tires on my 650 Burgman do I need to have them balanced???
This job is incredibly frustrating. You can get the first one off with some struggle but the second plug is impossible to get out unless you remove the wheel.
Thank you for the information . But I did not understand, there are candles standard CR8E, and there are the best CR9E . Which are nicer? Or am I misunderstood something ...?
@@ManCaveMayhem my 5/8" socket doesn't seem to fit deep enough to reach the spark plugs even with my extension I didn't notice it right away I thought I was turning the spark plug but when I took it out and put a light down in there I could tell that the socket wasn't reaching down deep enough to even make contact with the spark plug and it's definitely a 5/8 socket
Although the coil over boots are snug, it is still best practice to use a can of compressed air to blast the spark plug recess BEFORE removing the plugs. That brand of spark plug is factory treated with a ceramic thread coating and anti-siez is not recommended.
when you are used to fixing newer cars this is an ok job to do. i think i changed mine in ca 30 min. you can take that rubber of the cooler then there is more room to get in there
They definitely do but Platinum and Iridium plugs perform at a lower level than copper spark plugs, because they are less conductive and they tend to overheat. However, the overall longevity of these two types of metal is better than copper plugs. In reality, copper has the best performance of all three and the least longevity.
if you are on a trip and the scooter does not start and the couse are the sparks you have to do all this work to change them?come on man the burgman is a good scooter but to fix it is not so simple
This scenario would probably not occur if the bike is well maintained. But I guess it could happen. But it’s no more likely that a newer vehicle fouling a plug. It rarely happens. Thanks for the input.

Big time pain! Can u imagine what the stealerships would charge?
The screwdrivers are NOT Philips. They are JIS Japan Industrial Standard. There's a huge difference in the fit, not sloppy.

I got it with the bike from the previous owner.🇺🇸
First I would like to say thanks for all the tip and video as they have help me change the oil, spark plugs and transmission fluid. My question is after getting new tires on my 650 Burgman do I need to have them balanced???
You can but I haven’t ever done it.
You can deflate the tire, remove the valve stem and add 1oz of antifreeze inside the tire. Super easy and it works!
i have the balanced when i had the tire mounted on the wheel, i did the wheel removal myself
Simply add 2oz of dyna beads in each tire no more ugly weights on the rims and they work like a charm
