I love those little cells that formed. Do you think it will work also if I use coasters made from wood. I have a round wood coasters but I have not pour it yet.
you can and no odor. It is thicker than Art Resin, but it cures quicker. I have used both and I love the Stone Coat much better. You can use it on tiles because it's heat resistant to 475. Nothing will stick after it's 30 day cure.
I feel you on keeping coasters around long enough to sell elsewhere. I've been trying to build an inventory up for a show coming up. Lol. those are going to be amazing resined great video :)
I did some pour painting tiles and now I’m ready to resin. I have a couple of questions. 1). Do I first wash tile to get rid of silicone? 2). Do I need to put a coat of varnish to give a bit of “tooth?” 3) Is one coat of resin enough? Finally I compared the price of 3 different resins (Marine Pro, Art Resin, and Stone Coat)..and STONE COAT has the best price. I ordered just 32 oz this time but next order I will order the larger one; using your site. Thank you. Monte
Monte, I set mine on a tray and cover with baby powder to absorb the silicone for a couple days. I then wipe them off and wipe with a damp towel. I do a quick wipe with alcohol and let set a day before I resin. I do 2 coats of resin because most times your edges will look like they need another coat. I sand it between coats and wipe again with alcohol before putting the second coat on. Stonecoat is the best resin I have used thus far.
Beautiful coasters. After removing the tape from the bottom when done with everything, do you leave the bottom as is? Uncovered? Thanks for your videos...they are such an inspiration.
Very lovely! One concern. I noticed a lot of "dimples" when they are done. What do you do about them? Do they disappear with a couple of coats of resin? Thanks!
HI Christina. Two questions: Are the coasters glazed/un- glazed? Also, can you achieve these sort of results using epoxy/casting resin mixed with mica powders?
I use resin because of the option for hot beverages. Most of the varnish and sealers out there don't work. If it's just an art piece, it's fine, but you can't beat a countertop epoxy for heat resistance
I’m new to painting but I’m hooked. Love your videos! I have an issue with paint lifting when I clean my tiles. I’ve tried several different methods. If I use powder it doesn’t lift while cleaning but does when I resin. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Yes. And wearing gloves. I’m stumped. I’ve searched and apparently no one else has had this issue. Lucky me lol. Maybe I’ll lightly sand before painting.
Hi Christina, I just finished pouring 55 coasters for Christmas presents for my daughter's employees. I'm not experienced with using resin (just bought the Stone Coat resin) having used it just a couple of times. Any major tips on a successful application? Also, I'll be visiting your FB page as you suggested. Thanks!!
just do small batches, like 1 cup at a time so it doesn't heat up while it's sitting. Also, if you used silicone make sure you get it off before resin. Wear gloves so you're not putting any oil back on the tiles. If they have spots that doesn't cover, you'll need another coat. Clean, lightly sand and recoat. Tiles are tricky when you use silicone
Thankfully, I didn't use silicone on these because the couple of times I've resined, I ran into dead spots with it cause I didn't clean it enough. Thanks for your tips; I appreciate it!!
Stone Coat Countertop Art Coat. If you use the code POSSE at checkout, you can get $10 off a $95 order. This resin UV and heat resistant and great for coasters and trivets.
Can I ask what brand of tile you are getting from Home Depot? The ones I found there did not have the clear protector film on them and they also have little bump outs (spacers) on the edges? The were only $8.00 a case but I would rather pay more for a tile without spacers
Great colors and love the idea of coasters to use up left over paints! Thanks for the video Christina.
I love these! It is still amazing to me how you never get the same results even using the same colors, layering the same, etc. 😄
I think I will put painters tape around the base of the blow torch, pretty.
I love those little cells that formed. Do you think it will work also if I use coasters made from wood. I have a round wood coasters but I have not pour it yet.
They should work, just prime them first :)
These are super cute! Would make great gifts. Thank you. 💙
Very nice tutorial for these coasters.
Can you use the countertop resin inside? That is the main reason I love ❤️Art Resin I can use it inside, it doesn’t smell so awful, no toxins!
you can and no odor. It is thicker than Art Resin, but it cures quicker. I have used both and I love the Stone Coat much better. You can use it on tiles because it's heat resistant to 475. Nothing will stick after it's 30 day cure.
Have you ever painted on the glazed tiles? Do I need to sand them or prep them in anyway?
I only use glazed tiles. Just wipe them down with 91% alcohol.
Christina, do you need to finish the backs of coasters- with cork or felt? Thank you, Monte
you can use felt pads, sheet felt or cork. I use cork now.
Fantastic presentation and very knowledgeable. Thanks.
I feel you on keeping coasters around long enough to sell elsewhere. I've been trying to build an inventory up for a show coming up. Lol. those are going to be amazing resined great video :)
Thank you for all the information. Your work it beautiful! !

Great info, thanks! How long do you let the paint on coasters dry before resining?
at least 2 weeks. The paint needs to cure.
@@ChristinaWelch thanks so much

I do leave it blank
Beautiful coasters
.Pl can u tell me what u use at the back of the tiles .Thnx Cheers !
I order cork adhesive back from Aetna felt. I also have them in my Amazon shop
Very lovely! One concern. I noticed a lot of "dimples" when they are done. What do you do about them? Do they disappear with a couple of coats of resin? Thanks!
the paint dries flat, if you have any texture, the resin covers it.
@Jan Stern They are not dimples in the resin, it just looks that way.
Love this idea with tiles.going to try tomorrow
I love the coasters you should sell them. Just beautiful.
I do, that's why I don't have any on Etsy. I hope to revamp that shop with all new stuff next week. Crossing my fingers......LOL
HI Christina. Two questions: Are the coasters glazed/un- glazed? Also, can you achieve these sort of results using epoxy/casting resin mixed with mica powders?
These are ceramic glazed tiles. I don't think you'll get the same results as these are opague acrylic paints
Love the colors and outcome. What are the differences in using resin vs a spray varnish or sealer?
I use resin because of the option for hot beverages. Most of the varnish and sealers out there don't work. If it's just an art piece, it's fine, but you can't beat a countertop epoxy for heat resistance
Christina Welch sz
Thank you for the informatuion.
Also are they 4 inch or 3 inch?
hi there, when prepping the tiles do they need a light sanding? I used varnish on mine and the paint lifted. Do you have to use resin on the tiles?
we just clean them with 91% alcohol. I don't varnish them. We always resin.
@@ChristinaWelch so why would the varnish lift the paint. They sat to dry over a month.
Very pretty coasters! I really wish I could watch your live show (when it is LIVE, lol) I absolutely love working on the tiles :-)
I do too, and I need to make a ton. Christmas is coming :)
How long do you let your tiles dry before adding resin?
at the very least, 2 weeks. hope that helps
Your torch what brand is it . Do you use a heat gun with your resin top coat countertop ?. Thank you
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CNP2YP5 I use both with resin
I’ve never used resin what else can I use to seal the tile. Thanks Terri
There is a spray on Engine enamel you can buy, but I have only ever used resin.

I haven't had that happen, are you cleaning the tiles with alcohol before you paint?
Yes. And wearing gloves. I’m stumped. I’ve searched and apparently no one else has had this issue. Lucky me lol. Maybe I’ll lightly sand before painting.
I'm stumped as well.
So beautiful, what is that gun thing your using on coaster, where did you buy it from. What kind of paints are you using? Love the video
The coasters turned out so beautiful xo
I love all your tutorials.
What kind of coasters do you use?
I buy Santori Ceramic tile from Lowes Home Improvement stores.
Can you do the method with alcohol inks
Can you use counter top on paintings? I was thinking you could
Yes, you can
Can I use a heat gun instead of a torch gun?
yes, but move swiftly and don't stay in one place too long as you may singe the paint.
Where do u buy your tile?
Home Depot
Very pretty!
Beautiful!
Love it!!
Beautiful love
can you use the terra cotta coasters instead of the tiles?
I haven't, so I wouldn't be the one to ask. Sorry
Can you use varnish to seal them?
you can, but they will not be heat resistant for coasters. If you are just making them as art, it will be fine.
May I ask why are you using WD40 Silicone? Many thnaks!
keeps the paint from sticking to the cup. Easier cleanup if you are reusing cups.
@@ChristinaWelch thanks so much!

Hi Christina, Are the paints mixed with floetrol and glue? Thanks a bunch :)
Yes, I have a paint mixing video in my playlist. Look at the tutorials 💕
Thank you Christina. You always answer back.
Very pretty!!
Gorgeous. Quick question. Are you doing the pours with ACRYLIC paints? Or Resin? Thank you.
The pours were done with acrylics. After a three week cure, I resin it.
@@ChristinaWelch Thank you.
how long does it take for the resin to dry or cure?
12 hours to dry, 30 days for full cure
@@ChristinaWelch Thank you! I better get busy!!!
How do you package and mail them?
I wrap in tissue and bubble wrap. They are shipped in a box
Hi Christina...I tried to order from stone coat and evidently the code is not in effect anymore...is this right?
Our code is POSSE for 10 off 95
Thank you Christina...I love your work....just found you and already learning a lot....thank you...love your kitty videos ❤️🙋🏼♀️
How long can you store the mixed paint?
Months, just a good shake and let them sit for 30 minutes
Christina Welch with silicon?
yes, I add silicone to all my bottled paints
Christina Welch thank you so VERY much! I’m going to try these coasters!! I’ve never done this before! Your work is stunning.
What are the tiles called at ho.e depot ? I looked on line but could not tell which they were
daltile 4 inch
@@ChristinaWelch are the daltile gloss or matte before painting?
@@jjohnson6445 gloss finish, but you can use matte as well.

they no longer makes tiles without the knubs so you will need to sand them off if you want a straight edge.
Beautiful...
When those dry, what do you seal them with??
Stone Coat Resin. I have the link and discount code available below the video.
How much treadmill do you add to your paint bottles?
1 drop for every 2 ounces
