    Oops don't have paint in the backs. Are you taping before you paint also? I'm going to look into your heat gun. I torch but maybe I need to invest in yet another tool. Anyway great video! BTW I also found if I pour the hardener down the side really slowly and stir like I'm in slo motion It helps with the bubbles.

    • @KandKCreate

      Hi Jodie! Thank you for watching my video! I do tape the backs of the tiles before I paint. I’m actually pretty OCD about it lol. I use 4 pieces of tape and do it like a shadow box, one piece on each of the sides. You can see how I do it on the 6” tile (when I show how to remove the tape after you’ve resined). I do the same thing to the 4” tiles. Only a tiny little part in the middle ends up not being taped and that gets covered by the cork anyway. I personally love using the heat gun. It was about $25 at either Lowe’s or Home Depot. I also stir very slowly. In the video I have it a 4x speed but I actually go super slow. I find the heat gun gets rid of all the little bubbles so much better than the torch, but that’s just my experience.

    Hi, I love your videos and follow them alot. I can’t get this process to work. My finished tiles have blemishes and dips and welts on them. It happens almost every time. I tried using less resin and using more resin. I tried to spread it with sponges, brushes or just my finger and I can’t figure it out. Do you have any suggestions ?

    • @KandKCreate
      @KandKCreate  2 роки тому +2

      Are you touching the tiles in between the time they dry and you resin them? I’m thinking maybe the dents may be in places where you’ve touched the tile? I don’t touch mine at all. They dry on the cups and then I resin them within 3-4 days.

    • @annashyfrina5251

    • @KandKCreate

      @@annashyfrina5251 you can certainly wait the weeks to resin but you’d need to wipe them down first. I use baby wipes if I’ve handled the pieces.

    • @KandKCreate

      Thank you! I use the house paint to hold the tile in place on the spinner. Once done spinning I remove it and put it right onto the cups. The paint dries and then the tile just sticks to the cup on its own. I should also ,emotion that I tape the back of the tile so the paint is actually on the tape.

    How long do the paint and resin layers take to dry? Could these tiles be placed on a wall with thinset? Does grout adhere between tiles?

    • @KandKCreate
      @KandKCreate  2 роки тому +1

      I let the paint dry for 2-3 days and then the resin is dry to touch in 12 hours but I wait 2-3 more days before I put the cork on the back. I’ve never tried to use them as actual tiles, just sell them as coasters.

    I really like this video. Thank you so much for sharing your info with us. I do have a question, do you clean your tiles before you resin? To get the resin to coat the whole tile?

    • @KandKCreate
      @KandKCreate  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I don’t clean them. After I paint them I lay them on the paper cups to dry. They stick to the cups. With gloves on I then apply the resin. I’ve never had an issue of the resin not sticking properly.

    Do you plan on using that rather large tile as a trivet? Will the resin be able to handle the heat from a pan out of the oven? Do you know of thing I can use to seal them? They are painted with alcohol inks.

    • @KandKCreate
      @KandKCreate  Рік тому

      I do sell the large tiles as trivets. The resin I use is KS resin and it is heat resistant to 475 degrees. That being said, I personally have not taken a pot or pan right out of the oven and put it on a resined trivet. I would think you could resin an piece made with alcohol inks.

    I may be asking this question way too late given the video has been out for a year, but.....do you have any trouble with the resin pulling back from the edges? Am I maybe using too much resin?

    • @KandKCreate
      @KandKCreate  Рік тому

      Hi Mary! I don’t usually have any trouble with the resin pulling away. I don’t touch the tiles at all once they’re dried. It’s important to wipe them down if they’ve been touched at all. Any oil residue from touching will cause the resin to not stick.
