Such a wonderful piece of music. As a 12 year old I loved the programme and was so chuffed when I got a copy of the single which sadly got lost in a house move. Thanks for pisting
I also purchased this single and still have it in my collection. I remember thinking it was really cool - now, thanks to UA-cam it seems I wasn't the only one! As a 13-yr old I remember liking the programme itself, though online reviews seem to be rather negative and I doubt it's available anywhere now. I'm still a fan of the Quiller books, by Adam Hall.
The B-side is on UA-cam, as backing for a record label collection: search under "Quiller General Direction" and you should find it. Both tunes by (presumably) a BBC in-house band using the name "Quiller". Features a synthesiser of some sort for the higher-pitched sounds, which works really well with the piano to make a hauntingly memorable theme. The TV series starred Michael Jayston, and from what little I remember of it, it was pretty good! I think it was a spy thriller set in London.
I still have this single. Bought with my paper round money when I was 13. The B side is still preety cool and is still used by the BBC on various links. 34 years on it still sounds good.. Thanks for posting
A great theme to a fantastic TV series starring Michael Jayston as Quiller. Sadly the series was far too short for my liking...never forgotten it tho. MJ was perfect as Quiller.....understated but a very efficient operative/spy. Easily as good as the early James Bond.❤
Hello...Yes it was a great series aired on Friday evenings back in 75 Moray Watson was MJ's Boss/contact like a John Steed type character, The only other programme MJ was remembered for was his finding of a compass that made Del Boy and Rodders millionaires
@@dianebrierley9104 Hello. Thankyou for the info. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy didn't really get into that but A Bit of a Do yes indeed that was quiet funny also had David Jason in it

I bought this single when I was 16 and still have it in my collection. It was and still is a catchy theme with a great brass hook.

The piano that comes in at 2.31 really makes it!
also the keys at 0:44 and guitar licks at 1:29 :-)
Piano first comes in at 0:43
Well sampled by The Avalanches 😊
Thank you so much for uploading this classic theme tune!
VERY 70s💎
I gave up looking for this a while back, and lo and behold someone has finally uploaded it!....thank you so much.this was the first single I bought.
this is quite simply superb
I still have this 45 🥰
This is so funky! You can see the whole show on youtube.
Superb. Classic tune.
I've got this single.
Fucking love Since I Left You
Absolutely tip top.
Haven't heard it since North Finchley, 19785 with Lynne Cox!!
Bought this when it came out!!!
Top tune! But that single is definitely rotating in the wrong direction...🤭
COOL
I was wearing tight jeans and SB Dunks when I hit play and now I find myself wearing bell-bottoms and platform shoes. WTF?
Sampled back in 1988 kids! on S-Express - Funky Killer
The outro for Quiller was Owed to a G by Deep Purple
Oh, so good to hear this again - can you upload the B-side?
Sounds a bit like the library music from The Sweeney.
Good point.

My friend had this. On the B side is (I think) a track called 'The General Direction'. Any chance you could put it up?
Um…the record is spinning in the wrong direction…
Anyone else hear "Deep Purple - April" in this?
General Directiion an equally good track :)
Yeah !!! GIN(): )
would anybody know where i could find bass tabs for this??
