- Economist Richard Wolff joined the show to discuss how Russia has become the fourth largest economy in the world in PPP terms despite having 16,000 sanctions imposed on it. This video breaks down Russia's genius strategy for overcoming the odds which has the West absolutely in shambles.

Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of 2024. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Essentially the world economy is considered to be in recession if economic growth falls behind population growth.
My main concern now is how can we generate more revenue during quantitative times? I can't afford to see my savings crumble to dust.

It is sad to note that the voters in US have been blindly let by their TV stations when they have thinkers like Prof. Wolff and so many others to guide the nation; instead of fearing the loss of bullying other nations. This just results in the nation digging deeper into all kinds of economic problems.
Whatever economic system is in the place, the elites and wealthy always figure out how to rise to power and influence.
I use to get upset also but I stop doing that

Today, Russia and China could not be so easily bullied by USA and it's allies by their use of financial sanctions.
Time had changed.
USA and NATO will comes out of these sanctions the worst of as their economies deteriorate.
Professor, don't you think that the EU countries have always been the dinner on the American table? The same dinner as Ukraine in terms of human resources. Do you think analysts who order European governors-general to impose sanctions against Russia, which is essentially an autonomous country-civilization, do not understand that Russia has been called Phoenix for centuries, because it has always had natural resources and human potential with great fortitude and knowledge that will always revive Russia, despite any difficulties? Unlike Europe, emasculated in all plans, which will not resist the power of the Anglo-Saxon gang of "gardeners" and will always be ready to sacrifice itself for the sake of the interests of the United States?
Capitalism IS Unstable! WOW 😮!
Not so but i understand from where Richard Wolff is coming from
Imagine what Russias economy would be if they were not sanctioned…
Given the persisting global economic crisis, it's essential for individuals to focus on diversifying their income streams independent of governmental reliance. This involves exploring options such as stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the adversity in the economy, now is an opportune moment to contemplate these investment avenues.
The pathway to substantial returns doesn't solely rely on stocks with significant movements. Instead, it revolves around effectively managing risk relative to reward. By appropriately sizing your positions and capitalizing on your advantage repeatedly, you can progressively work towards achieving your financial goals. This principle applies across various investment approaches, whether it be long-term investing or day trading.
I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.
@@joshbarney114 I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you’ve got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn’t mind a recommendation.
I definitely share your sentiment about these firms. Finding financial advisors like Marisa Breton Dollard who can assist you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.
Marisa has the appearance of being a great authority in her profession. I looked her up online and found her website, which I reviewed and went through to learn more about her credentials, academic background, and employment. She has a fiduciary duty to protect my best interests. I sent her an email outlining my objectives and also booked a session with her; thanks for sharing.
Last year, the EU approved 12 sanction packages against Russia and the Russian economy grew 3%. Meanwhile, the German economy is in "tatters". The EU sanctioned itself.
Thats normal when you switch to War Economy.
Best example is Nazi Germany' GDP growth from 1939-45, in Economy it is called the "The Broken Window Fallacy".
Russia few weeks ago had to raise corporate taxes up to 5%
Germanys economics had nothing to do with Russian sanctions, everyone in Germany knew that when the "Traffic light coalition" came to power that it will shut down more power plants, which will hit their economy
Yeah…birth rates are below replacement in Europe and that’s only going to get worse, which is not good for consumerism and therefore not good for capitalists. That’s why Germany’s manufacturing sector was demolished, because they’re abandoning Europe for the global south with booming populations and natural resources. Europe will likely be turned into conflict zones for the purpose of the military industrial complex.
You realize the goal here is to bring down the EU and US to 3rd world status, correct? That's how a one world government comes into being.
Follow usa master you'll be OK with master puppets
And how are lies and BS helping Russia? it is now the 12 largest economy falling from the 8th and going down. Russia is a 2nd world nation that is close to 3rd world status etc etc etc ..
Well Russia didn’t need to raise protectionism barriers to protect their economy, sanctions did the job.

Another thing about China with their 1.4 billion population is that every year for a time, I don't remember the # of years but significant, they have brought 400million people out of poverty, which of course is more than the population of US.They certainly deserve recognition for that.

They eliminated extreme poverty, not poverty. There's still poor in China, as there are in every country. But yes, even just for that, they deserve recognition.

@@martinmcewen4614Don’t go after a dictator when your leader is Joe Biden
@@martinmcewen4614 The lesson is... just like WW2 got the US (and the rest of the world) out of the Great Depression - the Ukraine war got Russia out of economic issues due to spending on the military 👍
The source of the growth in Russia is the decentralization of power that was the norm during the Soviet era. They voted in a new constitution that adopted many principles of the US Constitution. In addition, Russia has a flat income tax rate of 12%. Russia is the largest country in the world, covering 11 time zones. A centralized government is just not practical. Putin was smart in transferring power to the various regions of the country, with a central government that coordinates policy, not dictating it.
Also, unlike the USA, Russia did not mothball its military manufacturing capacity. Russia has been very smart in structuring its manufacturing for dual use. The new defense minister is an economist, not a military man. His mission is to continue this policy of dual use and ensuring that military production is as efficient as possible. Once the war is over, the manufacturing base will be converted back to production that supports economic growth.
Well Russia practice mixed economy, both. The state controls critical parts of the economy like arms production and the rest is capitalism like China, India.
You must've smoked some strong stuff if you believe in decentralisation of power in Russia 😂
From the very beginning of his reign, Putin has been building "the power vertical" - a totally centralised political system under his full control.
Also, Russia no longer has flat income tax.
Another advantage of RF and PRC is that they select people for functions based on their knowledge and merits instead of their sexual orientation like they do in the West.

Blessings to the widows and the female soldiers, who fight. when the young men run out if they can afford leaving the war in Ukraine. Some cultural corrections needed there honestly.
Hopefully you in Ukraine pay attention to NATO, that they announced on different occasions and through various leaders that "Ukraine will not be a member of NATO". then you may understand that Zelensky is taking money from the west for his prosperity. Zelensky doesn't care about the Ukrainian people who fight on warzone fields, or who are captives in Russia now. Zelensky provoked Putin in a war that you will never win, Because the world understands that Ukraine was One entity with Russia before the Soviet Union collapsed, And the NATO who are not following the international agreements which prohibit NATO from expanding to East. Regardless of Latvia or other countries who joined the Euro. Ukraine is very known to be the Gate to invading Russia. Thus the world will understand the consequences for Zelensky's actions. He is not even willing to hold elections as long as he is still staying in Ukraine. After the war as any defeated president he will fly to get protection of one of his allies, when he already signed on the selling of Ukraine land to Poland benefit for example. Poland should not push you to fight and push you back to don't export your goods through them to make you unable to pay for the war unless by deserted lands.
Pay attention that Putin threatens and threatens,.. Then when Putin moves, NATO is not ready to sacrifice their prosperity to protect Ukraine. They are only ready to sell weapons to Ukraine and get very wealthy because of that. Remember what Biden said, that the money he uses to fund the Ukraine war is spent in the American defense complex not in Ukraine. And remember how many generals in the army buy goods for the army that are priced 3 times higher than the market price (1/3 for the producer + 1/3 for Zelensky + 1/3 for army generals “army generals who use Soldiers Wifes”). Then Normal people in Ukraine (not the war benefiters) will understand why poor who must die and rich shall get richer.

It means Russia is growing when it "detaches" from the West, being forced to by economic sanctions & isolation by the West.
The Russians have had never thought that in such an adverse scenario is actually helping them to be independent, delink & "break-free" from the Western sphere has helped them to grow, prosper and gained global influence & importance!
Seems like during the time of plenty the Russians drown themselves in vodka but adversity hits and they set aside their tomfoolery and hit the ground running. Literally like the bear they are likened to. 😊
It seemed Putin, for a long time, wanted to join the Collective West, NATO, etc. But he also hedged his bets & had been building relationships with the rest of the world. The economic metrics are absolutely not positive during war time. Just look at what happened to the British Empire. it's not capitalists economies that boom and bust. just the US dollar economies. switzerland and austria isnt unstable. wouldnt say france has boom and busts. what about capitalist african countries that never boomed. corruption causes that not capitalism
Thanks!
Prof Wolff has suggested a very interesting PhD project for a political scientist. Analyzing western narratives through media manipulation and then relating the media Zeitgeist or mood to factual economical trends of these targeted countries.
I get a feeling that the better China and Russia were doing, the worse the media mood on these countries becomes.
For more granularity, the PhD student can look at narratives trends and match it against China's or Russia's government policies and the results of those policies, especially when they are dealing with internal and external economic problems. I also have a feeling that the more successful these policies were at dealing with economic problems, the worse the misrepresentations were in western media.
Russia's faltering economy and China's collapsing economy. The overheating US economy?😂 Which way is up?😅
The New York Times is the toilet paper of Record in America, makes great bird cage liner.
As to China's growth - you can't compare apples and oranges. China started picking up after the Mao regime philosophy (i.e. from a very low level) was replaced by a more modern approach incorporating capitalist features. There was a huge gap of opportunity as China's economy was not mature and also, labor was cheap and people could be moved anywhere as the party saw fit.

Highly respected speaker. Well done.
Brilliant commentary as usual Professor Wolff; except this one really hits home regarding the Ukrainian War and Biden’s interpretation of it. Absolutely Brilliant!!
Dr Wolff is toooo intelligent and what he said blows my mind
Really great talk. Lot's of new perspectives for me.
Poor little United Satanists... it's breaking my heart 😭😉

Yeah, but this time, he ain't doing magic tricks.
Sorry, "Professor" Wolfe - the Ukraine War started in 2014, and you know that. Stop parroting the Establishment viewpoint - this discredits the rest of your commentary
Richard's analysis of capitalism and, the booms and busts, is incomplete without factoring the role of central bankers and what they do.
Thank You Danny..love your podcasts and we love Richard Wolff..been following him since the old Occupy Wall St days. If the US insists on having an Elder President..get someone like Richard! He is 82 years old and is as sharp as he was 12 years ago...Thank you for the best interviews..we never miss one. Peace out
