I think part of his appeal was also that you never knew when he _would_ show up. And when he does, he *brutally* dominates every scene he's in, like the Terminator but on jet fuel. Mark's choreography sells Mecha Sonic as the devastating force of destruction that he is; every punch feels like it drives enough force to level a fucking mountain.
Likely the most iconic scene in the whole series. It's the scene where we get THE Doomsday Zone remix, after all. As well as Mecha Sonic's two most iconic lines; "I'm not a monster. I'm a GOD!" and his immortal "I'LL CRUSH YOU!" that lives rent free in my head.
This fight to this day stands in my top three favorite fight scenes of all time. It may not have the best quality or whatever but it shows a villain who had overwhelming power in his series and exactly what he could do with it before fighting and beating the main heroes. Showing how much their attempts would be futile in the next fight.

I think the scariest thing about how easily Mecha Sonic dominates the Rangers is the fact that, even though they hadn't been around for very long at this point, we still knew that they are very powerful in their own right. Prior to this, not only were they keeping up against Mario and the gang very well, but Yellow literally split a mountain. So, we know that they're not only extremely powerful, but are clearly just as skilled. And yet, it doesn't matter. This scene is probably the closest Mecha Sonic has ever come to scaring me as a kid, because of just how...effortlessly he takes them out. It's even worse when you remember that this was with only four Chaos Emeralds. Just imagine how bad it would be if he got all of them.
That combination of the "YAAAH!" and "DIE!" has such a beautiful sense of conviction behind the killing blows of Yellow and Red, but the death of Green was perhaps the most savage of all.
Mecha Sonic here is fully living up to the message (being doomed that is) of the legendary quote: " Fools! It's not me, who's trapped here with you! *It's you, who's trapped here with me.* "
Yellow's axe not only didnt scratch him his axe is the on that broke. And that was BEFORE he transformed. They never stood a chance even without the emeralds.
definitely, cant wait to see until the reboot catches up to this part, but that might take a while since by this point episodes are getting longer and mark will prob stop combining episodes at this rate
My issue here is that I think the reboot episode of this fight won't live up to this even with the massive visual upgrades. Sure, the vs Yoshi fight was far better but the mood and feeling from this original fight I'd hard to beat. It truly showed that a team that the heroes had a tough time against couldn't make a scratch on a villain who had such oppressive power that proceeded to not only kill them, but beat the very heroes that struggled against them

They see mecha sonic effortlessly destroy their ship, notice his power level is over 9000, sees yellow’s axe get shattered when he swings at him, and sees him absorb 4 chaos emeralds and they STILL want to fight him. What did they not see that they were in wayyyyyyyyyy over their heads? They doomed themselves.
@@MrDarksword123 In hindsight, you do have to wonder though. If Chaos Emeralds were not in use, would Mecha *STILL* get the same crushing victory? I might argue there would be some greater effort for the win for a 5v1 fight. I want to say it wouldn't be totally flawless, given that with Emeralds his general rate of processing is *IMMENSELY* faster, therefore making him so much more dangerous.
