The enviroment weapons like that hammer need to be MORE PUNISHING. It feels like they are completely useless unless you are trying to break an egg....

It's better for the competitors if the punching damage isn't dealt by the area changing the match outcome. Its a more level playing field the way it is, bot vs bot.

If the environment was actually deadly and not just there to earn control points from judges, it would just encourage maxed weight pusher builds with barely any ground clearance and weapons that are meant to control and not do direct damage. I'd honestly rather see the arena hazards removed entirely before I'd want them to be more dangerous, because I usually find control bots boring as it just turns the fight into a shoving match that's decided by judges and not by a KO.
I am not fond of the team but Riptide is a BEAUTIFUL bot. I would love to see it go against my favorite bots like Endgame, Sawblaze and hydra.
Sawblaze is my fav but it feels like supporting a losing football team lol. I think they're not that competitive due to lack of killing power compared to the spinners. Hydra is great when it is weapon on target but is so long by necessity that good opponents can stay at its side. I think endgame and cobalt style robots are probably the most lethal in the competition right now.
Sawblaze fought Riptide in 2021 and won. Maybe there will be a rematch next season.
As for them going up against Endgame and Hydra, I would definitely like to see that.

I am fan of Tombstone but Riptide vertical blade also looks powerful as Tombstone horizontal blade .must need a 1v1 match between both

I have a huge amount of respect for Riptide as a bot, and if it were under any other captain it would be among my favorites.
However, Ethan openly and shamelessly insulting Adam in front of a live audience in the post-match interview, and then trying to play mister nice guy immediately afterward, put me off them for good. I don't blame Adam one bit for refusing that handshake.
Seriously, I don't even have to go that far to build that opinion, just the repeated "What did we expect?!?" after the match was enough.
How dare you..! Ethan was openly to millions branded a cheat he will now and always carry that stigma but what of the accusers ? Nobody remembers them ! In my opinion Ethan showed great restraint.
@@TheTwistedStone Any accusations against the Riptide team were addressed behind the scenes, and rightly dismissed. The reason people hate Ethan is because after he won, instead of being magnanimous in victory, he decided to rub salt into the wound by kicking Adam when he was down.
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. "Showing great restraint" would have been keeping his mouth shut.

@@TheTwistedStoneThe issue was that they attempted to modify the bot after the safety checks and weigh-ins right before the match. When they re-weighed the bot, it was somehow lighter than before (later addressed/dismissed as a discrepancy from the scale). According to Team Riptide’s explanation, they were just trying to attach a funny gimmick to the bot.
However, given their history of unsportsmanlike behaviour (causing $10000 in unnecessary damage to Captain. Shredderator, cursing repeatedly on live TV, insulting multiple teams) not to mention the controversy surrounding Ethan’s dad, a lot of people are understandably upset at Team Riptide.
Shatter both times basically had to hope it hit Riptide's weapon belt with the axe which was a very small strike zone
Seeing this again I realize how amazing Shatters armor was. Most bot would had been shredded to pieces for some of the impact it just ate up
That means it worked exactly as intended. Soaking up the punishment rather than deflecting it.

Yes, hammer bots on Battlebots have won due to their weapon a couple of times. Maybe vs grabbot or something.
In Motorama/NHRL they have had better success due to weight bonus. Look up knockoff white

Vertical spinner are considered cheating by some battlebot fans, hammer and other type of bot should have weight bonus doe to disadvantage in design
Saw blaze is probably the best at puncturing armour. Hammer with spinning weapon magnifies hitting power.

Can't hammer when your flying through the air! Odds of hitting somewhere deadly are really slim.
In round 2 Riptide weapon is definitely faster tip speed.. you can see the difference in slow motion replay in each round.. you can see the difference between rounds 😎

What is the video title all about? 🤔
At the end the guy from chatter was saying he wanted to see how quick their blade was spinning. It must have been something about that. I just wish they explained the outcome.
Could also be to do with Ethan supposedly tampering with Riptide after pre-fight inspections, Adam brought up about Riptide's weight being lighter after those inspections and Adam caught him which was shown on camera.
Just before the fight, Team Riptide was caught modifying their robot. This was against the rules, as the robot had already been weighed and the judges had not been alerted of these modifications. Riptide was re-weighed, and it’s weight didn’t match up with what was weighed earlier. Also, the captain Ethan Kurtz had shown unsportsmanlike behaviour during the entire competition(including attacking Captain Shredderator after the judges had told him to stop to the point where the controller had to be physically taken from their driver), which caused a lot of teams to strongly dislike him. A lot of rumours where going around about Riptide’s weapon going over the maximum tip speed. Eventually the match happened anyway, because the experts couldn’t find what modifications had been done, but it sparked a lot of controversy.
You are not referring to the older incident when Riptide was modified?

@@janenglund I am not aware of any other incident where Riptide was modified. Just the fight with Shatter. There are plenty of incidents with Riptife, though, so I might be forgetting something.

Its a shame spinner weapons are basically the only viable strat...
They need some kind of super strong filament or wire to fire into the blades to incapacitate the weapon.
Entanglement is banned in the rules of Battle-bots and pretty much all combat robotics tournaments.
It would be interesting to see them allow it though and see how the field adapts to it.
They allowed stuff like that for one season of Robot Wars, they weren’t very effective

They should give extra wheight allowance to bots without spinners
a few years ago this would of not been fair but i feel like if you don't have a spinner you are at a massive damage disadvantage so you should at least be allowed maybe 25kg more of armour

In the preface to the 2nd fight, the Riptide team was working on their robot after weigh-in, which is against the rules. Team Shatter called them out for it and after checking again, the bot had lost 2 pounds and its weapon rotation speed was still the same. Riptide claimed to have removed a prop, which is allowed because it only reduces weight so technically not cheating.
i for one am glad ethan was "removed" from BB. he was a disgusting example to set to the next generation of bot builders. You could see over the season how his toxicity slowly infected his team mates too quite clearly. Good riddance.

Can anyone answer me if a huge vacuum suction cup toward the ground would be viable as a strat to gain crazy stability for weapons like spears/axes? And also to counter spinners

What happens with creators of "hammer-bots" when they think about his effectiveness? Miracle, mistery, god bless?)
Due to all the spinners, most teams armour their sides significantly more than their top armour leaving it vulnerable - the top armour also tends to be physically closer to critical components meaning even If you cant cut through you can shock damage parts or deform the top armour and damage internal parts that way - one good hit with the hammer can be enough to end a fight - especially in the lower weight classes

Questions of cheating came before the fight. The team were caught working on the bot after the weigh-in which is against the rules. They then got defensive when told to re-do the process and the robot weighed in slightly lighter the second time around. None of this proves anything but it's shady, especially since they never said what they were doing that was so urgent or where the missing weight went.
There is also a question of weapon speed, some think they might have been exceeding the RPM limit. As far as I'm aware nothing has been proven.
All of this was exacerbated by Ethan Kurtz being a giant tool.

I don't know that. But I think 6 years ago there was a bot that wasn't approved because of some power or it wasn't approved because the tip speed was too high.

That's the battlebots producers creating fake drama and clickbait.
Without context, outsiders won't know why, but before the second fight, the Riptide team were caught modifying their bot before entering the arena (and modifications after the weigh-in are against the rules). They then re-weighed, but got a different result, so they had to do all the functionality tests again, then re-weigh again. Riptide passed the checks that time, but the team acted really sour about it (as if Bots FC were the villains in that scenario, for trying to challenge their shady behaviour), and Ethan even insulted Adam in the post match interview, claiming he had paranoia.
So TL:DR, they didn't cheat, but their actions made them as many friends as if they were cheating.

Wasn't Copperhead's weapon more destructive? When the two met, Riptide was the one whose weapon broke

@@Chelsea-d2c I don't quite follow. In what way was it less destructive? To be clear, I'm not salty about Riptide. I'm just not sure how you measure how destructive one weapon is compared to another. I would have figured one of the best metrics was which weapon breaks first in weapon on weapon collisions
@@hiygamer the weapon of Riptide has more reach over Copperhead,therefore giving Riptide the ability to throw and pop opponents into the air… However in terms of reliability,based on the Copperhead vs Riptide battle,Copperhead’s drum really stood the test….
You could also say that Riptide probably has a weapon that spins up to full speed faster than Copperhead(I dunno I could be wrong) but if I am right then yeah Riptide’s weapon is more destructive it just wasn’t durable enough to take on hits from Copperhead,Copperhead probably hit something on Riptide that rendered its weapon useless….

Were they implying that Riptide is spinning too fast? Is there an upper limit on the speed of a spinner?
There were many concerns that the Riptide team were exceeding the 250mph tip speed limit of the competition - This would give them a massive advantage in combat with regards to both stored energy in the weapon and the winner in weapon on weapon collisions - it also didn't help that the team themselves were confrontational in the pits and were seen on at least two occasions making changes after they weighed in for a fight.
super boring battles when there is a bot with no weapon. have these guys ever won any single fight by penetrating someone with their weapon? i don't think so
Shatter vs Subzero was a pretty good showing of Shatter's potential. Other than that, it's true that hammers are significantly weaker than vertical spinners.

Riptide was completely vindicated but now and forever more will carry the stigma of being accused of cheating. Huge respect for Ethan he showed great character and restraint in my opinion but what of the accusers ? What negatives did they receive for whining ?

It's not whining to point it out when you're opponent is altering their bot after the cutoff for doing so. That's just expecting the rules to be enforced.
Lol he was caught altering the bot after weigh in, that's not accusing of cheating that's pointing out someone breaking the rules (cheating).
Ethan even admitted he altered the bot after weigh in so he admitted he broke the rules (cheating).
Besides that, Riptide has been accused of further cheating in exceeding the weapon's tip speed, which sadly hasn't been properly verified by BB yet.

Riptide cheating, rotatif weapon vs hammer is not fare fight at all.
If someone is cheating would be a lame bot design like huge or mammoth in my opinion.
The amount of vitriol from the community towards Riptide and Ethan Kurtz in particular has turned me off the sport for good. Just because someone dared to be good without belonging to the old boys club he has been slandered and actually hindered from competing fairly for years.
Or maybe we're reacting in a justifiable way due to how he acts. I had no issues with him until he started screaming unneccesary swears down the camera in his post match interviews, acting like other teams were just trying to throw him off after they were literally caught messing with their bot after weigh in (actually breaking the rules) and got forced to redo weight and fucntion checks, and honestly was a pretty sore loser after the Copperhead match, literally saying if he had been there to drive the bot they would have won.
Plus there's the whole Shredderator thing where sure, they didn't technically break any rules, but certainly ignored the standard sportsmanship ideas that are present in the competition.

'using adult language' Adult if you're 16 yes, after that most people grow up and realize they're on TV and as such learn to act normal, but some struggle with that.
