that was Hypershock. But yes witch doctor looked different. It was smaller and they could not even self-right. reulting in several losses. And it had a minibot called shaman
You can see in the early seasons Battlebots is more like a wrestling match, and then at some point it becomes a gladiator fight. Now it's essentially a tank battle.
I'd love to see him go against Razor from robot wars.. razer wasn't a joke though.. his beak went through bots,, not just poked a lil hole int there armor.. oh no wonder 40 wins, 6 losse's lol
I hate to say it but there not fooling antone with that crom hammer, its hits a bots and does ZERO damage.. get over the ah ooh..when it hits something.. probably weighs less then an ounce
Yeah the hammer toting bots are hopeless man, I don't know why people have put so much time, money and rss into these losing bots, I like the spinning blade bots, horizontal or vertical, they seem the most successful and damaging, I don't really like the flippers much, although they have seen success I think they are kind of boring and only have one way of winning
@@Ryan_the_dawgit's been years since last time i watched this, what caught my attention the first time i watched, was that bot Minotaur. That team did some cool damage back there with that spining drum of them. I totally agree with you, about these lift or hammer bots. Since i only watch to see destrucion. Also i already said back there, this event really need to add traps that actually do real damage. They been with the same shlt for too long.
@@Ryan_the_dawg The comment is about the big hammers in the corners of the arena (think they're called pulverizers by the casters), nothing to do with bot design.
Bite force now, is the best horizontal spinner, gone is that ineffective slow lifter. Its other major design advantages are, the tracks that give humongous traction together with high resistance to damage, and the very low profile hence low CG. I still don’t understand why many robots, including the legendary Tombstone, leave their wheels so exposed and inevitably loose them in combat.
Damaged wheel guards can pin the wheels, which is worse than losing the wheel entirely. Most bots can still drift around on one wheel, but a pinned wheel stops that from working
Newbie here... What's the triggering logic for those traps? (e.g. sawblades, spikes, floor wedges) It seems like the hammers drop whenever a robot is pushed under it, but other types of trap don't always set off when a bot runs over from above. Are they triggered just randomly? Or by running over a correlated sensor in these small yellow-edged holes?
For the saws at least, they are activated when robots get close to them (in 2015 at least). The hammers are controlled by the two teams, you can see on the floor the circle being either red or blue
Seems more like luck to me - I felt overhaul was better in that matchup, it seemed to have stronger drive and was doing alot more shoving across the floor and as for the final, if tombstone backed off the judges would easily see that bite force only had 1 track operational and was limited to circles which from every other match i've seen does not equal mobility
It's a design from 2002 that hadn't been updated (apart from internals) due to the robot combat hiatus. It was very strong in the old era, but it's outclassed now due the general shift in designs towards more pragmatic spinners.
You guys really have to review your videos before uploading. In several videos you have mistakes on the names of the bots. Either wrong names (like putting Witch Doctor instead of Hypershock), or names with spelling mistakes (like Mondoon instead of Monsoon).
Neither are really on par with Bite Force, there's a reason Bite Force is a three time world champion with a 27-1 record to it's name. BF is reliable, durable, dishes out damage on a surgical level and is driven very well. Minotaur, Witch Doctor, Endgame, Tombstone, Monsoon, Whiplash, Yeti, Huge...none won against Bite Force even once. It's really the best bot in the history of the sport.
Paul skipped Season 5 due to COVID, then Bite Force was officially retired after a dispute between its creator and the showrunners over rights. There has been rumor about Paul working with another team but haven't seen any substance to back that up as of yet.
most boring part of any robot fighting is the lame copy-pasted 3 minute time limit. robot wars was the first big league i believe and they had 3 min limit, so everyone else just copy pastes the same thing, without using their brain. WHY is it 3 minutes? does anyone even know? make it more interesting, give both teams ability to raise time limit by 1 minute. if one team feels like they can win by having more time, they can take 1 extra minute by pushing the extend-time button. if both teams have used up their 1 minute, BUT if both teams press extend time again within 3 seconds from eachother (if both agree), then they can keep increasing it indefinetely (maybe up to 30 mins top, but i doubt batteries would last over 10 mins to begin with). this would make it much more tactical and interesting.
It's an interesting idea but I suspect it might lead to overly defensive play. The 3 minute timer forces continual aggression and makes for more entertaining television.
I think that Bite Force won because they had more control over Tombstone, were more aggressive and also because they had a running weapon the entirety of the fight. It's not always about who deals more damage.
Both fights were incredibly close, in my opinion two of the closest fights in Battlebots history. The judging criteria was different back then, but even if these fights had happened under the modern system it would have been very difficult to determine who should have won. Bite Force vs Overhaul is tough to judge as a viewer, simply because there is no way to tell how much damage each robot took. Overhaul seemed more aggressive and controlled the end of the fight, but Bite Force controlled the first half. For Bite Force vs Tombstone, damage I would give 3-2 to Tombstone and control 2-1 to Bite Force. No idea who I would give aggression to.
Lamest robot. I watch robot wars to enjoy, not to see a numb robot walking in the arena. I just couldn't watch these fights until the end... These guys should focus on bots that do bring some action and keep people hyped...

that was Hypershock. But yes witch doctor looked different. It was smaller and they could not even self-right. reulting in several losses. And it had a minibot called shaman

Yep! 👍 All that's missing is a slight slow-motion effect with the David Attenborough voiceover
Has it actually been 5 years already since we last seen Bite Force? I'd love to see them go against the new and improved End Game. That'd be nice.
they're back

Yeah, would love to see him come back. But apparently the show doesn't pay properly for what they spend.
Exciting episode, I'd like to see more of this kind. Also like the view of a team that sometimes wins and sometimes loses.
Anyone beating that old smug of the tombstone is already a winner.
I like this format all killer no filler

It was almost beaten by Hypershock and Overhaul. Later Bite Force with a spinner was a whole other proposition.
I can't count the number of times I've seen Tombstone burn regardless of outcome
At least it makes the show watchable.
Biteforce is probably the only robot that was both the best grapler and the best vertical spinner in the history of the sport.
It is in my eyes flat out THE best bot even tho I'm a minotaur fan 🤷♂️
