I can't even begin to imagine just how much money gets poured into these machines, all the hours and hours of hard work to build and repair on the fly. Not to mention the expense of the international teams just getting here, shipping these robots half way around the world to compete. And then to see your creation just getting torn to pieces in seconds. They know what they're letting themselves in for, but still, it must be heartbreaking.
I'm pretty sure that a lot of their costs are subsidised by their sponsors in the form of free parts etc but it still wouldn't be cheap by any means. It's like any hobbie I guess, it can be as expensive as you want it to be
Precisely because of what you say, what happens at 0:40, where he unnecessarily hits a clearly defeated rival, was seen on the TV program, as poor sportsmanship
i think Carbide is the most destructive bot of all time. tombstone might pack the strongest punch, but it falls apart quite easily and most of the time just flies across the arena and punches itself, carbide didn't really have that issue.
Carbide was definitely the best spinner on Robot Wars, but the average quality of robots was just so much lower there due to the BBC's 'no sponsors' rule - the average budget for robots on Robot Wars must have been like a quarter of what it is for Battlebots. Carbide naturally appeared more destructive because the other teams were using cheaper materials. Against Battlebots opponents, Carbide would be sent flying similarly to Tombstone. The team that made Carbide also made the first version of Cobalt at around the same time (World Championship 2). It was an extremely similar robot to Carbide - and it didn't really perform very well. Of course, they then went on to make the vertical spinner version of Cobalt, which was much more successful. There will never be a 'most destructive of all time' because the bar keeps getting higher, but the current version of Cobalt (as well as many other bots) is absolutely more destructive than Carbide and any Robot Wars robot.
Uppercut never won the Most Destructive award in any of it's seasons. Aside from thoise listed here, we don't know who got it for WCVII yet (probably will be announced during Champions II when it airs) WCVI the award went to Hypershock.
I'd be interested to Razor trying to crush one of these bots, those motors are insanely powerful, but Razor is insanely strong and crushes with 9 tons of pressure
15 years old design and still as fresh like the first day. Them and Gigabyte just amaze me how reliable their designs are despite of the fact their designs aged over a decade and a half.
I would recommend many robots designers, to watch these videos to understand the weak points and the strong points of robots design. Robots like Bronco with 6 exposed wheels, poor turning rate and an ineffective flipper are just waiting to be slaughtered. Flames and hammers don’t work. Horizontal and vertical rotating spinners are the most efficient weapons. Need traction and speed, turning rate and wheels/track protection, being able to run even when turned over is better. Less cool stuff, more effective weapons design, just check Minotaur and Tombstone, simply deadly.
I'm always slightly surprised they enter. back in the day it was kids with their teachers or parents so you got all the wacky nonsense. but now u assume they are trying to win? realistically durability and a ridiculous spinner or a really well armoured rounded ramp with the hopes of them suiciding is the way to go
A big part of that is marketability. BattleBots doesn't want to just have 12 variations of 3 different base designs; that doesn't help the viewership. Teams have to demonstrate a style that helps them stand out to help with the selection. You're not wrong; hammers and flames aren't particularly effective. But they are showy, and the audience likes that.
So, who do we think is winning the award this season? Most people would say Riptide, but I think it would be great if Copperhead, the bot that broke Riptide, would nab the award from their clutches. Besides, it tore apart End Game, and turned Triton into a party popper.
I'm inclined to believe that WD may take home the most destructive this year given that they would have a chance to take part in the Golden Bolt whereas Riptide/Copperhead/Huge cannot due to their placing in WCVII
Right now I expect Riptide to win, but it depends on what happens in Champions. Several bots aren't far behind Riptide for most destructive and one good showing could be enough
@genericusername3518 I really hope it doesn't go to Riptide. I just think after that poor sportsmanship on the part of the team, and just how much friction they've caused with the community across the season, I'd hate to see such behaviour get rewarded. Still, we'll all know come Golden Bolt Finals. My other possible nominee is Ribbot, mainly because of the terrible damage it inflicted on Skorpios. Much of that bot was unusable after it's beatdown from the frog.
Shame the commentators can’t speak English. It is written Minotaur, but they pronounce it Minnotaur! Confused? Ok…try saying this. Diner (a place you eat or a person eating) vs Dinner (food)…see what effect the double ‘n’ has on pronouncing the ‘i’. If this simple English use is too hard for them, maybe they should go back to school.😅
I love Ray's gleeful smile as he lands those ridiculous hits
It’s fantastic man, he really gets into character for these matches. Ray is a class act!
I Like the way he says do you want some more hahaha and then smashes them to bits.😀
Witch Doctor wiped the smirk off his face.
Cobalt splitting ghost raptor in half might be the best hit of all time
huge got split into many pieces once, forgot by which bot tho, that was also incredible destruction!
@@SethiozProjectit was icewave who did it
@@BlueUltimateistheCoolio makes sense, icewave has the spinner bit higher than usual horizontals, so it hit the right spots
not better than bite, force and tombstone season four (sf)

@@dukejpc It's like "professional" wrestling. You gotta have some heel characters.
Valkyrie vs Rotator best contest you can ever seen...
Unless you saw the version on steroids of that fight: Minotaur Vs Tombstone.
The commentators Chris and Kenny had so much fun and were contagious. Great energy. I miss that in the newer seasons
i think Carbide is the most destructive bot of all time. tombstone might pack the strongest punch, but it falls apart quite easily and most of the time just flies across the arena and punches itself, carbide didn't really have that issue.
I mean, it was a pitbull in a kid playground. The level is much much higher now.

Carbide with sponsors would smash everyone fr. He was in another World
I would’ve thought that Uppercut would show up on this list somewhere
Was uppercut first season 2021?
Uppercut never won the Most Destructive award in any of it's seasons.
Aside from thoise listed here, we don't know who got it for WCVII yet (probably will be announced during Champions II when it airs)
WCVI the award went to Hypershock.
You know what would've been awesome?
EVERY SINGLE battlebot that has won the most destructive robot award battles against each other.
Remember the Tombstone vs Minotaur match ? Boy...
What for all's.?.
All the matches is really badass and the arena still damaged XD
Only happen with this two.
SOOOO much better than any human contact sports
The modern age gladiators sport. It's like in Roman age but with robots.
ye, bots are always using full force and fight to the death
I love Tombstone's trademark move: Shoot parts of destroyed robots to frighten the announcers.:D
Best video ever. Ultimate destruction
Офигенный бой Минотавра с шестиколесным 🎉🎉🎉

3:30 he looks insane 😂
Khorne approves
He was feeling himself. Really living the image of his bot 😂
Valkyrie vs rotator was a great fight
I liked it when one of the bots took down a droid with a rake that was funny use of a rake lol😂
Yeah, that robot was Hypershock
It’s funny how the small, flat, horizontally symmetrical bots tend to have the strongest hits
What about the fight of Minotaur where its opponent went up in flames?
I used to love robot wars hypnodisc
Those past Valkyrie clips show how disappointing it was under the new captain this season.
2:53 3:10 3:47 6:53 8:03>end
LOL that first robot look like a film project from school back in the 80's.
Minotaur is just a different breed.

What ads are those? Not a single ad on Premium.
The Hypno-Disc of the USA - Tombstone great in the early days but seem to struggle later down the line
03:30 - legendary scene 😤
the first seven second of the video was probably the most painfull
fun stuff!

where's the Hypnodisc?
Thats from Robot Wars, this is battlebots.
wow 3 years old

i love tombstone .. no tombstone match is boring ... something will be destroyed with tombstone in the ring
Rotator?
when the Brits turn up we dont mess around, Cobalt is a weapon
Ray Billings is the smiling assassin, isn't he???
2:04 minotaur, 7:58 hehe
What about the bot that completed destroyed gigabyte in 1 hit?
didn't multiple bots do that
They should do special events before matches of these bots just thrashing household appliances.
Matches with Tombstone in it are the only one's worth watching
WoW
That drone is the most frustrating thing I’ve actually ever seen why do they need to add that…
Carbide was great but broke down alot like tombstone also both were great

Some of the designs on battle bots are realy not thought out or built very well no wonder they last seconds against something like tombstone
