Where are they going with this ?
It is already known that certain books ( fewer than we think) should be banned.
Teachers and parents , and school boards should do more to read these books and not be told by the government which are right or wrong for consumption by students. Of any age!
Let's face it , the children will , at some point learn what is in these books , without our help.
They have burned them in Texas and florida and every time the republican party has been instrumental in that censorship.

Banning books in schools v thier own kids online using THEIR PHONES!!!!!
I let my kids read what they wanted to. I just made sure that anything they read that I was not familiar with or had concerns about I read at the same time. This way we could have a discussion. I read Oedipus Rex in 5th grade when my older sister was reading it in high school. How about we teach kids to think!

Ignorance is bliss. I graduated from a small Bible College. We were taught to read and study all sides of an issue and then develop an opinion. We were also taught not to judge others, who have different views.

I don't understand how books and school is thought of an evil thing. Parents shouldn't have say in what a school does. Education is everything. Kids need every bit of information to make their own educated decisions. The more they know the better they are.

We should ALL be concerned when the government wants to ban books. The ignorant political move is not going to eliminate the fact, IT HAPPENED, GOOD, BAD OR INDIFFERENT. LEARN FROM IT. DON’T pretend it didn’t happen because a group of people are upset. That creates an opportunity to discuss and come up with a resolution that works for both sides. We need to accept the fact we’re not going to make everyone happy. Are we at the point we all need to have a warm fuzzy feeling about everything? We are capable of having conversations without being hostile to each other.

That’s a good point. If they actually focused on the issue of it being in the school library or not. Like to know more of the story in some cases. It is kinda weird how video games and movies have always had age-restricted guidelines but not for books. I guess book banning has always been around, surprisingly though it wasn’t like this beforehand that parents wanted age restrictions all the time-I guess they say appropriate ages. I guess it is the same thing though for letting kids walk alone and then that changed and can never be left alone.
Ban Enid Blyton! Those Famous Five stories feature Georgina/"George", a clearly confused child who obviously needs to wear more dresses and spend more time in the kitchen.

@@michaelalvarez6624 : Dr. Seuss Enterprises decided on their own to stop publishing some (actually 6), not even close to all, Dr. Seuss books because of insensitive content. There was no politically motivated movement involved in that decision.

This is parents having a say in whether or not they want their children exposed to inappropriate material or not, especially since they’re paying the taxes that fund public school systems.
