Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. There is no rich story without a poor beginning. I salute his resilience.

Great story! Reality is that there are actually SCORES of stories like this in Nigeria (the most famous being billionaires like Cosmos Maduka, Razak Okoya, Pascal Dozie, etc., but there are many others). We Africans just need to tell more of our OWN stories - and avoid the danger of the single narrative of poverty and corruption. Kudos to the dude.

Nigeria's problem is NOT endemic corruption, failed economy, elitist leaders, poor planning, bad constitution etc. All these are a smokescreen to hide the real problem.
The problem with Nigeria can be explained in 4 sentences:
I: Unless a society runs a merit-based system, all sectors deteriorate.
II: Nigeria tried merit before and ended up with Igbos leading EVERY sector (economy, education, military, science, transport, trade, diplomacy etc).
III: Nigeria refuses to go back to merit because of 'risk' of Igbo domination.
IV: Nigeria cannot improve, because it cannot run a merit-based society.
SUMMARY: Nigeria is in a catch-22. Institute merit and Igbos inevitably become the top dogs. Deny merit and Nigeria goes to the dogs.
SOLUTION: The only way forward is Igbo autonomy or independence. A successful Igbo nation will serve as a model, inspiration and challenge to Nigeria. Otherwise neither Igbos nor Nigerians can make any sustainable progress. The other way is to attempt to destroy Igbos totally (like Hitler's final Jewish solution). This second option has been tried (through various pogroms culminating in the Civil War) but failed!.

Not true. Try it in Igbo land, when you have successfully turned the SE economy around, when Enugu, Anambra becomes a world class city. Then I will believe you, charity begins at home, do at home then we will follow you to do it in ours

To Anne Francis Elizabeth, your analysis is rubbish... I would rather listen Dr. Kennedy Okwonkwo, yours is tribalistic utterances while Dr Okwonkwo analysis and advice is real and patriotic. May the good Lord continue to bless Dr. Kennedy Okwonkwo.

@@ruqayyahakinwande787 Baseless argument repeated by unity beggars like a broken record. The British taunted the Irish in exactly the same way. After Independence, Ireland has since overtaken UK in PCI! Malaysians taunted Singaporeans, but post-Independence, Singapore has outperformed Malaysia in every aspect.
Biafra would be the first black nation to cross from developing to developed nation. A foretaste of it was during the few years that the Eastern Region existed. Before Igboland was occupied (i.e, before the Civil War), the Eastern economy was rated by the World Bank in 1964 as fastest growing in the world. The Region had the first industrial development plan in all of Africa, which provided for industrial zones in all eastern cities. The Region had the largest market in W/Africa and the first indigenous bank with a continental focus (ACB). EASTERN GDP WAS MORE THAN TWICE THAT OF THE OTHER TWO REGIONS (WESTERN & NORTHERN) COMBINED. I have all the facts and figures.
