Dick Enberg was just the best, the absolute best, no announcer had the excitement in their voice like he did! I always looked forward to his broadcasts because he gave so much feeling to his announcing.
The one exception to this: SB32, he announced John Elway as the "..sentimental favorite.." compared to Brett Farve. Enberg's opening about Denver showed he thought Broncos were 14 point underdogs for a reason. How wrong everyone was that day!
People forget how good the 96 to 98 Broncos really were. They had only lost 1 home game during that entire stretch which was the 96 divisional games against Jacksonville. The Broncos finally had a defense that didn't fall apart in the 2 Super Bowls that the Broncos won. Elway FINALLY had a an actual running back in Terrell Davis which is the big part why Elway has 2 rings. It's just it took nearly Elway's whole career before he finally had the team to win a Super Bowl.
@@PeteyThePanda Yeah...and what happened the following year in the playoffs when Jacksonville returned? They left no DOUBT as to who had the better team. Just a stupid fluke, caused by Shanahan resting them for the final month or so of the season....
Still can’t believe the Jags went into Denver and beat this broncos team. One of the biggest upsets in playoff history in my opinion jags were 4-7 at one point that season won 5 in a row to finish 9-7 and got in.
@@SingleTax Do you remember the Super Bowl the Packers won? The MVP was a kick returner. The Patriots actually played them fairly well. But I'd still prefer it went the way it did....So the next season, when Denver got their trophy, it was against the defending Super Bowl champions, the absolute class of the NFC...just one more thing that made that game like something out of a fairy tale for Denver and Elway fans like myself...
that why you play game. I love under dog teams upsetting very good teams, especially in playoffs. like jags upsetting broncos 96, , if you look at Eli manning playoff career, he upset a lot of teams, 2007 Brett Favre and 2007 cowboys and 18-1 pats, 2011 15-1 packers, and 2011 49ers nfc championship game.
Denver smoked New England 34 - 8! One of my all time favorite games. Been a Broncos fan since I was 12, now 51 and have to say I really miss these amazing uniforms! I went to Mile High during this '96 season to see Denver defeat Oakland and it was by far the best sporting event I've ever been to. I wish Denver had their '98 roster during this '96 season. Because the Broncos would have been the first team ever to 3-peat. And perhaps would still be wearing these classic unis. Always wanted to see Denver's '65 - '66 home and away jerseys couple with their '68 - '96 D helmet, and you have perhaps the best uniform in NFL history, rivaling the Chargers powder blues of the 60's AFL. Finally, on occasion have Denver bring back those Tombstone Jackson / Floyd Little road orange pants worn during the early 70's seasons. Denver has had amazing uniforms throughout their history, unfortunately '97 - present is not among them. 🏈
I actually became a Bronco fan because of the uniforms, at least primarily. And I dropped them when they dropped those uniforms. They had just about the single most distinctive look in the NFL, and abandoning it was unforgivable. I still haven't gotten over it.
Yes agree 💯 I've been a Broncos fan since 1990, partly because of these awesome uniforms, the best uniforms ever in my opinion.I miss them so much I hated when they changed the logo and went to Navy Blue in 97 absolutely HATED IT! Still do, when I first seen them I was like 🤯 🤬 wtf is this crap!?..... the royal blue helmet just pops on a Sunny day 🌞, the navy blue is just dull, drab, meh, blah......BORING 🤮
@@RetroreviewsPlus Yeah, I loved that classic Orange Crush look....and in addition, it was so unique. The old Buccaneers had a shade of orange, but it wasn't as fiery and eye-catching as the Broncos. Huge regular season win for the Broncos in this one as Drew Bledsoe and Curtis Martin looked totally lost. Also, Atwater & Braxton was one of the best safety duos in NFL history.
I forgot what it looked like to see the Broncos win. I miss these days. With John Elway, no matter how much they were down by, you knew they were gonna win.
Yeah, and he not only did it, but he usually achieved the wins making plays that nobody else could make. There was nobody else like Elway. If people actually understood who he was, they'd be calling Jordan the Elway of the NBA.

This was the last season the broncos wore those jerseys and helmet design. The next year elway would go on to beat farve and Packers in the Superbowl in the Jerseys they still playing in today
I've supported you and your channel. Your going to always get complaints. No matter what you do. Shake that off. I understand about time, that's something we only have so much of. But to cut everyone off because there were complainers is rather sad. I watched the 84 lions game and the ending is cut off. That's going to happen, the silent majority of us love and appreciate what you have done.
Had Denver won over Jax, they would have hosted the Pats in the AFC Championship Game. With a 34-8 win in Foxboro, it would have been a drubbing once again over NE.

That Bronco running game was dominant those 3 years. NFL teams couldn’t stop it so they had to cry to the nfl to change the rules
Elway had carved out an easy First Ballot Hall of Fame career LONG before the arrival of Davis.
