#Texas #TikTok #CreditCardSkimmer
It is genuinely frustrating. I've been scammed out of $1,500 at a Walgreens in Minneapolis Minnesota. I literally asked the store if they can review the cameras to see the person who put the credit card scammer device over the authentic one then they refuse to even show me anything. Made a affidavit with Wells Fargo literally the next 48 hours I got all my money back because they got law enforcement involved and they found out who did it it was a store manager. So it's not always a customer that's doing it sometimes it's an inside job.
It's always an inside job.
Which Walgreens in Mpls? Just asking because I live downtown and go to the one on Nic/6th all the time
Omgggg
I hope that store manager is in jail now. Glad you won out in the end.

There's no way that skimmer could've been installed without the store staff knowing.
Those gas stations private owned.
Not necessarily true there’s been plenty of times I’ve gone into gas stations and the employee is in the back it’s usually late at night when they are doing some cleaning but if the employee was distracted helping someone or doing other parts of the job someone could easily install a skimmer
There is about a thousand different ways it could have been wdym?
The whole story is suspect.
I have litterly seen videos where they distract the cashier and place it on the reader without the cashier ever noticing. All it takes is a few seconds to put on.

Sue 7eleven. They obviously didn't "inspect the card reader regularly" enough.
Bet you it was an inside job. Besides, all these stores have all these cameras going, they should be able to detect who did it...unless...the store is uncooperative as this store seems to be....I avoid these convenience stores like the plague, as I worked at many of them when I was younger, and I know just how corrupt and crooked many of the employees, as well as management can be.

7/11 are full of shiet....
I had 1600 taken off one of my cards once. 1400 spent in 1 store in 2 days, in a store i have never shopped in. I asked for the videos and the clerk looked like he was sweating bullets. I asked the manager if he really thought it would be that hard to find the person who spent $100 14 times. Local police thought I was ripped off from that store and looked at their gas pumps only to find that they had skimmers too! It's an inside ring!!!

The companies that don’t police their machines should be liable for the damages. It’s their responsibility to ensure their machines are not tampered with. Many times it turns out to be the store workers/owners that commit these crimes.
I agree. We see it happening and they still acting like they don't know these things happen 🤦🏿♂️
The people who end up absorbing the costs are the merchants where the stolen card info is spent. Because when you report fraud they have to give the money back. You’re right, it should be where the card info was stolen.
Good to know
that's why she got her money back .. DUH! .. you don't really think the person who put the skimmer there paid her back? obivously that money was refunded by the 7-eleven shop manager or owner.
@@thebee9907 works like this for the banks i've used. transaction is "pending" until the claimant claims the funds. This period is usually less than 30 mins.

I remember hearing this story. She initially confronted the 7/11 after popping the skimmer off and the employees basically ignored her. Then she took the device to the police department and was told to return the device to the store. I’m glad it got resolved, but I was heated the first time I heard this

Agreed. “We don’t know who we are looking for as a suspect right now”…… ?? Employees? Overnight staff?? Cameras? This sounds so suspect
@@samanthagarcia99 what does the comment by the officer have to do with Jordan’s comment
Pretty standard procedure not to comment on any pending criminal investigation. It's unlikely corporate (who made the statement) was in on it, but they are likely too embarrassed by the fact that they signed on a franchise with corrupt employees to admit it.
FBI crime statistics - Table 43.
Yeah, I mean it's very obvious how it was attached the card machine. How an employee couldn't notice that is beyond me.
Shouldn’t store managers be held responsible in some way? How did someone not see that?!?
Yes, stores should refuse to use credit cards. CASH is king!
Because there probably the ones who did it
Maybe he is the culprit. It’s weird he won’t make any kind of statement admonishing the skimmer in his store.
@@rogerdildeau7507 cash is not king though.
She lost $600 but she got it back. You may have a higher risk of losing money without direct physical contact, but how often will you get your cash back if it's stolen from you? It's a much less guarantee.
And businesses have less money to lose via theft either at the place of business or when depositing at the bank.
The tradeoff for consumers being the traceability of purchases and for businesses being fees taken from transactions. But to some that's a positive trade.
But no, nobody is going to stop taking credit cards.

It's an employee behind the scam. As a former store manager of a 7-Eleven, we have DAILY logs that must be filled out on every shift that shows you've checked gas pumps, ATMs, and cash register card readers for potential tampering.
It's definitely an employee.
I used to work at a gas station back in 2013 and we didn’t do it then. Maybe they weren’t a thing back then. I started checking gas pumps and atm machines before I put my card in them. I didn’t know they were being put on the readers like these though.
It's equally likely, if not more so, to be the owner/manager.
Fine it’s an employee. The establishment should be responsible for the stolen funds.
Used to work in retail asset protection had a manager who had a saying..." hire me at minimum wage and watch me steal thousands" we busted store managers and employees at every level...
Exactly, I call bull on the fact that they haven't checked cameras on the cashier.
Good for you!👏👏👏👏
OMG, thank you for reporting.
I did notice some readers were loose, didn't pay attention
What's a bigger crime is the fact that 7-Eleven is not telling all their locations to check for card skimmers regularly because most likely the employees could possibly be in on it.
This is why some clerks make asking for a receipt such a hassle. They should hand you a receipt no matter what. If you don't want it, you can tell them. The card machine should ask you for a receipt and it should print it towards you like when you get gas. It's annoying asking for receipt.
there should be video of who ever did this unless it was an inside job and the video was erased
They nickel and dime you when giving back change on cash transactions too. I've had this happen at convenience stores and fast food places. Holding back a nickel, dime or quarter hoping you won't notice. Seems petty but it adds up for the dishonest employee over time. And the cash register accounting will always be correct at end of shift or when they do their daily balance.

The store was in on it. There's no way anyone could install that device without the store knowing it.
That's what I was thinking.
Right? Too many cameras. Generally speaking, police do not give out information in an ongoing investigation if they can help it. I think she just told that to the reporters so there would be no follow up questions about it, thereby not revealing to the criminal that they are on to them. If no possible tampering is seen with the camera tapes, then they could be investigating the possibility of an inside job.
Actually the store isn’t on it. We actually had training on this when I worked at Victoria secret last year. They’ve caught a couple people doing it and whenever you aren’t watching or have your head turned from the Moneris machine, they install it. It is VERY quick and literally takes 2 seconds to put. We got trained to check the moneris machines frequently but trust me that it DOES happen and most employers aren’t aware

Yes. Thanks. Big targets for card skimmers are gas stations. Also, do not let your card out of sight. Devices come so small they can be palmed.
Good grief!...
Geez
Glad I live on Oregon. There’s no self serve gas.
The shop owner n the employee knows exactly what’s happening in here it’s obvious U don’t need to be a genius to figure it out 😡
Well for starters who else is going to just pop that on their card reader? It's obvious it's the owners scamming everybody
Not necessarily, You seen how easily it came off, that could easily be fitted when a shop worker turned their back for a minute
And also if it was a shop worker it would be pretty stupid to leave it on the terminal but keep spending on people's cards.
@@ferguscasey5301 they don't spend it immediately man they wait for you to charge your account to a bunch of other places then after they have your info they discreetly purchase whatever they want making it a lot harder to narrow down where your information was stolen
@@DMiTree I would imagine it would be smarter to get 500 card details and take it off and then use the card details not spend but keep it on.
It is possible it was the shop workers but they would have to be pretty stupid to just leave it on the terminal after spending from people's cards
Thank you come again.
Oof I’m 10 months late, but seeing this now makes me realize how lucky she was to be dealing with dumb criminals. Unfortunately there are a lot more out there, and they actively hide their activities as much as possible. You just have to keep an eye out for shady stores now 🙁
That 7-Eleven needs to be held accountable for not monitoring and checking their own card skimming equipment. They are obviously negligent and untrustworthy.
The employees are at the cash registers almost 90% of the time when people are in the store, and the stores keep cameras on those registers, so I guarantee it's going to turn out to be an employee that did the skimming
@@cmcrisp42 yeah I was about to say - the size of that skimmer. That's not something you just sneak on when no one is looking. That's something you do when the store is dead and you work there.
@@cmcrisp42 First thing that came to mind is it's an inside job.
@@cmcrisp42 my thoughts exactly! it's not like a groccery store where theres 5 check out isles, the 7/11 near me only has 2 check outs, and they are ALWAYS attended.
@@jetfire245 probably right before closing up or first thing in the morning.
Why can't the police, detectives, and store owners protect the public? How come it takes this smart lady to do it?
Starting to ask the serious questions for your never-did-wrong-government!
Inside job harder to discover but she was just smarter then the store manager or owner doing it
@JJ Email you gawtdamn right
It's Texas!!!! Lol😘
@JJ Email it's more that their training techniques are based on methods from the 1970s and not adapted to what crime looks like now.
That’s why you always use a spare card with a pre paid account that you top up whenever you want. For online purchases and for in store ones. Never use your main account card anywhere.
I would start by questioning the clerk or the owner of the store
Police talking bout “we’ll investigate” when SHE did it for them with 0 budget! Pay her!!
Employee’s and shop owners of these shady gas stations need to be looked into. How does this happen during store hours?
Exactly
Honestly I could see how it could happen. Busy day at the store, "customer" asks for a pack of smokes and installs the skimmer when the cashier turns around. Seeing how easy she removed the skimmer should alarm you how easily one of these can be installed.
That said, what gas station doesnt have cameras pointed at the register? Should be able to check surveillance.
These are typically 7/11s
@@UncleJack420 the problem with that is with cameras rolling all day ( and possibly night) unless you have a idea of roughly when it was installed, there is so much footage that would need to be manually watched that it would be insane go through it all.
Id be careful in fast food places too. The amount of times I had to change my card because the cashier took down my card info. Always see if they take way too long with your card.
Great job catching it👍
You go girl!
She's got street smarts! Kudos to her for taking matters into her own hands here.
How do you know she has street smarts? Maybe just insightful
how is that street smarts? Basically everyone that have worked in retail knows about this lol. Got absolutely nothing to do about the streets. XD
@@dp7047 Do you really need it run by for you?Ok...
She appears to have known exactly what to look for with regard to a fake "front" on the machine.
After her bank called her, she states that she thought back to a pack of chips she bought at a convenience store. She went right over to the convenience store. She states she compared one machine to the other. Then she felt along the side of it and noticed there was a gap.
Her own video shows her taking over when the clerk, who was working, couldn't get the false front off, which contained the skimming device. She grabbed that machine and popped that false front right off, like she'd done it before.
THAT is how I know she possesses at least some street smarts.
@@andreaskarlsson5251 Alright drama queen. Everyone? Are you blind, or just often overly dramatic in a desperate attempt to prove your point.
Clearly you FAILED to notice that the clerk in this video DID NOT notice the false front, and couldn't get it off once she was told it was false, which is why she took over and popped it off like she'd done it before.
So, not terribly "smart" of you to miss that...
@@dp7047 Streetsmarts is being award of all the scams out there and she obviously was informed.
Thanks for sharing and bringing awareness of such a scam from narcissistic predators everywhere.
*sociopathic
@@EhCloserLook *that, too.
The ones you can't spot is at Gas-Stations they open the pump and hook it up inside ! so checking the card slot won't work !
It seems that the scammers got greedy and instead of hitting that card for smaller amounts, they took so much that her card got denied!! We had that happen too. We went right to the bank and filled out many forms, but eventually the money was returned to our account.
ALWAYS use a credit card, its good for cash back points, air miles and secure transactions/fraud protection. I don't use debit cards. I pay EVERYTHING at the end of the month/I NEVER pay interest, but I NEVER use debit cards, they have no benefits, only A LOT of down sides.
7-11 became such a hole... I don't understand how this is legal... I'd be so angry i'd probably start trashing the place
and it is 100% legal as long as law enforcement is neutered in the face of financial crimes imposed on the poor
you'll forever be remembered
That little child has a tough, smart mom, and I wish best of everything to them both.

But a broke poor one. 600 was thr entire account. Lol 😆
@@pigbenis2611 come on man, everyone has down times. and 600 is still 600 more than you probably have smh
Stop simping
Here in Africa I cannot dream even having 600 dollars anytime in my life
There has to be security cameras in that store recording the register. It’s a inside job by the employee there.
Exactly someone on inside did that
You got that right.
Well that would be just stupid. The cashiers know they have cameras, and would be busted.
@@colorsafebleach5381 i think they know the people who installed the fake ones. How do u not notice someone messing with your machines?
There is another video where a man pulled one off and the employee behind the counter dipped out. Inside jobs.
