Im a Michigan State fan. I saw this in 2009 when i went to the MSU vs ND game. I loved every bit of the Notre Dame football gameday experience. Notre Dame is a first class University with a beautiful campus and the best football stadium ive ever sat in. I loved the Golden Dome as well. No other gameday compares.
@@wishihadavette_2517 yeah, seats were far from comfortable from what I remember. Seeing Touchdown Jesus in the distance and hearing the Fight Song made up for it I guess.
@@wishihadavette_2517 I understand that the stadium is historic, but it's also for that reason that USC was basically stuck with a stadium that wasn't really designed for football specifically, and they can't even cut it up and move it in like what Penn State did because it would lose its status. While the seats are more comfortable, the views would still be worse than average even after they spent what it would cost to build a new stadium. I have a feeling that ND and Michigan could add more comfortable seats but just choose not to because it would reduce capacity and the historic feel that fans choose to put up with for the experience.
Im an Irish Catholic from the West Coast. It has been a lifelong dream to see the trumpets and touchdown jesus and just sit in the stadium. Just one time... On Saturday Sept 7th that dream will become reality at the NIU game. My family is sending me to South Bend. I am so blessed. Im going to see those trumpets. Go Irish
Hope your first year went great and you are getting ready to be a sophomore. I'm coming to ND for the first time for the NIU game. Dream come true for me. Good luck with your studies!! Goooo IRISH!!
My father brought me to a Notre Dame football game when I was in 10th grade ( 1955 ). I attended in 1958 and now my daughter is a junior. How can you help but love the traditions, the values, the honor and respect this wonderful institution shows the world each and everyday. Sing Notre Dame, Our Mother, the Fight Song, or Here come the Irish, then slowly wipe your tears away. Be proud that Notre Dame is still a beacon of light for all the world to live by forever: “ Love thee Notre Dame !”
My dad (RIP 2013) and I spent many a year watching ND football and hearing the Wake up call. Now I listen and watch the games alone. but I dream of seeing and walking on the campus where greatness has walked. GO IRISH! Now and for ever!
I am a long time die hard ND fan since 1988. I am 43. I am from Massachusetts. My parents are BC fans as my grandfather went there after WW2 ended. I visited back in 2005. You have to go to 1 game in your life. You won't regret it
I am a real USC fan too and I LOVE this song and the traditions at Notre Dame!! Ahh,...makes me think back to growing up in Maryland and watching USC play N.D. on T.V. and how there was crisp fall weather outside!!
I was there for a final home game!! Trumpets under the dome, is something you have to be there to appreciate. Students were very welcoming to visitors!!.
I'm an LSU student and yes I'm still mad about the loss last year to Notre Dame. Having said that, I blame nothing but our coaching staff and Notre Dame was just a better team that day. Admit it when you lose and give the other team credit. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the University of Notre Dame. And this is a beautiful performance by the students.
I didn't realise that the Sydney Swans AFL ( Aussie Rules Team ) team got their match day song from the last section of the Notre Dame fight song. The words to the song are " Cheer Cheer the Red and the White ( Swans Playing uniform Colours ). The Swans crowd is just as passionate about the song, as the the ND campus, especially when played at their home ground. the Sydney Cricket Ground. Go Swannies

Michigan fan here, who saw this in person before the 2014 Mich-ND game. Not many other traditions rival this for the sheer "holy sh*t, that was f*cking awesome" pick-your-jaw-up-off-the-floor quotient. And I'm mostly indifferent toward ND otherwise, so that's definitely saying something.
+Larry Harvilla Nice of you to say, Larry. Glad you enjoyed it, even if are on the "other side," lol. I was at that game last year too. Here's to hoping these two long time rivals can face each other again on the field in the not-too-distant future.
I'm from SOCAL and I've been a Notre Dame fan since I saw Rudy in 5 grade, I was an instant fan and as a proud Catholic it only made perfect sense. It was my personal tradition to play the Irish fight song in my earphones before ever game, I kept the tradition all the way into my city college football days haha! GO IRISH!!!
Michigan fan, my dad went to Notre Dame. Despite it being a house divided, rooting for the Irish will always mean so much to me, because of what it means for him. Go Blue and Go Irish.
Coming from the Univ. of Arkansas where we have our "Calling the Hogs!...Woooo Pig Sooooie!" This tradition and event is truly impressive and I can only imagine being a great sight to see and hear in person. Glad to see it here on video.....great job!
I went to Temple/ND 2017 as a Temple fan with my dad (who also cheered on TU despite being a huge diehard ND fan in his day). As a former marching band member, I really wanted to see this, we went and I freaking loved it.
How early did you get there. We went a few years ago and got in there nearly an hour early to make sure that we could see everything. We were near the center. It is pretty awesome.

True. "No other school in the nation can even approach the number of significant, time-honored traditions that encase the Notre Dame program. They're part of the vernacular: Touchdown Jesus, the Golden Dome, the Victory March. The sights and sounds of GameDay in South Bend create an unmatched spectacle, a glorious mix of tradition and color and pomp and pageantry."
Purdue grad, but I've been a Notre Dame fan since I was a little kid. A company I used to work for had four season reserved seat tickets, (North 40 yard line, three rows behind the visiting team), that the salesmen wouldn't give to customers so I used a lot of them. President of the company and her dad were both ND alumni. The company closed and they gave up the tickets.
Fun to watch this the day after the 10/21/17 Notre Dame Southern Cal game.Go Irish!Attending the "Trumpets under the Dome" is my favorite game day weekend activity other than the game itself.
Night before the Game of the Century vs FSU in 93. Some trumpet players decided to play the alma mater outside the administration building. Obviously the trumpet players thought they had something to do with the win (as all fans do), so the next season they continued to do it the night before every home game. Before long they started doing it inside the administration building.

I wouldn’t say they have the nicest stadium. I am pretty sure they still have wooden benches. Everything else is nice though.
@@wishihadavette_2517 yeah, seats were far from comfortable from what I remember. Seeing Touchdown Jesus in the distance and hearing the Fight Song made up for it I guess.
Kevin. Yeah. USC’s Coliseum just got renovated and lost a lot of seats, but now it looks a lot better and it has very, very comfortable seats now.
