In this video I follow up on my previous video about the worst alternate universes, but this time it's DC's turn. The DC multiverse is full of wacky and strange realities, but I wanted to explore the bad ones. From the Injustice universe, to the DCeased universe, we're taking a look at some of the worst timelines in all of DC Comics.

You can tell DC has always been salty about Shazam (Captain Marvel back then) beating Superman in sales. Remember Shazam wasn’t a DC character originally they brought him after some lawsuits. Yet anytime there’s an alternative universe Shazam is always killed off or turned evil quite easily, sometimes both.

Personally it's the fault of the justice system in dc for not giving the death penalty to every villian on earth like oh boy another Tuesday of arresting the joker let's give him 10 seconds of prison time in an asylum of other equally evil and bad people so he can then escape
Tbh actually, some villains did deserve redemption and help for their tragedies as many were good people before they got affected badly by various terrible events..
But Joker definitely deserved instant death for his crimes, most definitely.

i know the real reason is because the writers need these guys around but a genius way to resolve this in universe would be just send all these psychos to the indigo lantern corps, unless the writers changed how it works, its supposed to literally force the wearer of the ring to feel compassion for the things they've done, super humane, the bad guys are productive emotional allys, now, and you didn't have to kill anyone, only oppositions i could see to this idea would be the people of earth deeming it inhumane or something, since these guys are being taken away from earth and forced to be good guys, but maybe the justice league, or superman specifcally could vouch for this method, plus the green lanterns are literally the space cops of earth so from a like idk political view if the guardians of the entire planet deem someone too far gone that they need to be forced to feel empathy then why would i stop that? and the other thing, i don't actually remember the context of this, but all the indigo lanterns became normal for a while because something made their power go away, and like all but the leader of the indigo lanterns became their old evil selves, which might make the people of earth distrust the method since that kind of shows it doesnt really work, but i mean; come on, bad guys relocated, forced to be good, and if for some reason they're freed then what are they gonna do? they're in space, far far away from earth, even if they can get back, its highly unlikely, for normal criminals anyway. holy shit my comment is long, you guys aint even gonna read it i should just hit cancel, eh nah

Honestly not nearly as bad as Marvel, which had a lot of incest, cannibalism, and constant death for the sake of it, at least these ones had a good chunk of the major cast survive.

@@felixbenitez6169 The only good things of the Ultimate verse were Ultimate Spider-Man, the art style of Ultimate Spider-Man comics, the Ultimate Spider-Man game, the Ultimate designs of many characters (Ultimate Venom rocks ngl) and some characters that came from that universe like Miles Morales and The Maker... Seriously, those are possibly the only good things that came from the Ultimate verse

I hate the modern trend of "but what if Superman was evil?" or "if Superman was real, he'd be a pretentious asshole on the brink of wiping ass all". This is why I'm so glad that current Superman iterations (Tomorrowverse Superman, My Life with Superman animated show, Superman & Lois TV show and Superman Legacy movie) show you Superman as the good boy scout he is.
As much as I agree, evil Superman is also somewhat realistic. Everything he stands for could easily be changed by the people who get to him.
I like Invincible because the superman analogue isn't just evil there, he has depth. Homelander on the other hand is exhausting.

Have you heard of the series Irredeemable? I haven't seen too much of it but from what I've seen it has the most realistic depiction of an "evil Superman"
Superman is the embodiment of what American men tried to be during those times that mentality carried on for a long time until the 80s.

The Joker was the one to perpetrate the Iran-Contra Affair and found a means to pin the blame on Oliver North; the reason Oliver was acquitted wasn't because he destroyed the evidence, but because it didn't exist.

DC is hellbent and keeping their multiverse neat and tidy instead of just doing the infinite universes thing marvel does. This comes back to bite them every time when storylines spiral out of control and they have to reboot everything again.

To be honest, my only question to the Injustice universe is that why the fuck did Lex give a nuke to the fucking Joker of all people
People forget, Batman isn't an official member of the Gotham Law Enforcement. One of the reasons he doesn't kill is because the moment he does, his ass is gonna be hunted down. While Joker isn't an example, there are a few examples of Batman villains who turned good because they were given a chance. Harley Quinn, Killer Croc (in some continuities), Poison Ivy, Clayface (in some continuities) are some examples. With the Joker, it's on Gotham for not putting him down. Batman is doing everything he LEGALLY can.
That logic just makes Batman a coward.
@@kingdon7795 no, it keeps the GCPD from going after him. Even if he could beat them, what would that accomplish? When they're chasing Batman, who's going after the real villains, LIKE the Joker. It's already illegal to be a vigilante in New Jersey, where Gotham is located, so he's already breaking the law there. GCPD is only turning a blind eye because he's making sure not to kill anyone.

The reason Batman does not kill is because of the line, batman knows once you kill once nothing is holding you back, and injustice Superman is a perfect example of what happens when you cross that line, he is so consumed by what he considers justice that he ends up killing Shazam, a freaking kid

Honestly I can somewhat see where Bruce was coming from in Injustice. Hell Plastic Man himself said it best, “I’ve been shown to need multiple instances of second chances before I got on the right path. What makes you think that some of these villains you’re killing aren’t capable of redemption?” Then again you got The Joker who casually kills people because he finds it funny and he had one bad day. Basically both sides do have a point, Injustice Clark with how enough is enough and Injustice Bruce with how “some of these villains deserve redemption”.

Ok in defence of the injustice timeline jokers reasoning is complicated but it is there...
A rule of thumb for comics joker at least is that everything he does normally is done to mess with Batman to spme degree but in this timeline he was sick of losing his game with Batman, so he disided to make a move that couldn't be beaten.
Joker new that by driving superman insine would lead to his death one way or another, when superman kills him in one punch thats why he calls it a punchline, it has double meaning as he was literally punched to death but also it completes his ultimate joke.
In other words, joker basically killed himself to make batmans closest friend his ultimate enemy, and in a way, i guess it really was kinda funny.

Honestly unlike Civil War (the comic), at least Injustice makes sense and is honest about which side they want you to root for. The teams in Civil War made no sense and the author was pushing for Iron Man to be in the right despite claiming the comic was making the issue neutral.
Wasn't Civil War more Cap leaning due to Spidey defecting to Team Cap, as well as Tony going overboard with imprisoning heroes against the Superhero Registration Act, as well as him literally making a copy of Thor without his consent? Crime Syndicate depends on the writer. Unfortunately a lot of writers are really afraid of creating new ideas for them and sticking with them. They were great antagonists for Forever Evil (JL goes missing, Syndicate shows up, DC villains unite to save their universe), since they, you know, were characters
Most of the time though Earth 3 is a weird remnant of early DC comics where ideas were less “is this an interesting story?” and more “come and buy this book with this waaaaaaaacky cover”

Although that story also had a third faction in the fight, Lex's "Mankind Liberation Front" which of course consists of Golden Age villains like Catwoman, The Riddler, Vandal Savage, Lord Naga and King of Spades (who is no longer the leader of the RFG which makes you wonder how he kept the title), and third-generation villains like Ra's successor, who is that universe's version of Damian but goes by an Arabic name like his grandfather on his mom's side.

Injustice has everyone act out of character for the most part, they make most of the JL frustratingly irredeemable. What’s worse is that there are people who think that Superman is right as if he ain’t took over the world cause his wife and kid died. Like get in line bro, everyone’s got a dead wife and kid in comics.
When it comes to flashpoint, i really like Thomas version of Batman because:
1) He has guns and no moral code, so killing is on the table
2) Sick af suit
3) A better reason to not kill Joker

Besides Regime Superman was based on Kingdom Come Superman and Justice Lord Superman (although it was Lex who killed Lois and was the start of Superman's body count in the Justice Lords timeline) (and maybe a bit of Red Son IDK). In the Injustice Movie, -Prime Earth- Earth-1 Superman even says the universe's designation is Earth-22, the same as the Kingdom Come universe.

To answer why Joker chose to screw with Injustice-Man, there was a prequel comic where Joker was going around with a mind control amulet mind controlling various members of the Justice Society of America before moving onto Superman, who was the only person able to resist Joker's mind control. Then everyone starts expositing to Joker "Superman's the best of us, he could NEVER be corrupted, his morals always have been and always will be rock-solid, and nobody on or off Earth could EVER cause him to sway from those morals."

honestly "Evil Superman" was not great even when it first showed up in Injustice. Superman was a story of "What if the dude with all the power in the universe was actually a thoroughly nice guy" and that's why it worked. Someone who uses their power to rule with an iron fist isn't really a subversion, it's just a standard villain, and it's boring and tedious.
If you actually know about Joker's reason why he went after Superman, it actually makes you appreciate Batman even more. Joker literally says he's tired of losing to Batman and wanted to prove a point. He manipulates the weaker minded Superman to kill everyone and go evil. Joker for years always lost to Batman, but goes after Superman once and wins

You missed the part where multiple people, including the flash, specifically told superman "if you kill all the evil people, you'll start killing people who are less and less evil" and then proceeded to HELP HIM

Hot take: I think the concept of injustice really could’ve worked if it was better refined and more carefully crafted as a whole. Evil superman is pretty unoriginal all in all but injustice has always been kinda interesting to me as a concept..
Injustice problem is not really because Evil Superman is not original, but more like how they take the concept. Remove "the child murderer" and "being a tyrrant/dictator" then Superman ideology is pretty much good. It is just unnatural and forced.
The scale of dismal universes: Mainline DC > Mainline Marvel > Alt DC > literal Hell on Earth > Alt Marvel
Batman not killing people usually ends with his world becoming apocalyptic or he just proceeds to kill more and more people and innocent as well, like in flashpoint and gotham is an even bigger shithole. Also its the justice systems fault for not killing terrorists like the joker should be pretty easy to give him a death penalty. Superman turning evil through the death of his loved ones has already happened in the kingdom come storyline and his resolve actually grows and actively goes against heroes who kill since hes supposed to be a symbol of hope and be better than humanity. It shouldve been a swapped scenario with batman killing villains instead, which makes batman an even bigger threat since hes got a million contingencies. Also reverse flash was destined to be the flashs arch enemy no matter how much he didnt want to so he relents since its a fixed point.

i always found injustice superman a dumb concept, superman is said to be the symbol of hope (said by dr manhattan himself) superman in all sense is Hope and faith, and Good. Making Superman evil destroys his character, sure superman CAN kill, it doesnt mean Superman WILL kill. I believe dr manhattan tried to erase superman from existence but always failed because superman is destined to be 'Hope'. which is why injustice superman is dumb.
