Thanks for the shout out, I'm humbled and honored. Spectacular visuals with a comprehensive explanation in your natural style. Always feels like a great hike alongside your knowledgeable buddy. Loved those majestic pines standing tall despite natures fury. The huge gain in altitude must be brutal in the heat, almost enough to make you want to jump in the icey water.

Yeah, my legs are feeling that elevation gain right now. 😀 Luckily the temperature was perfect being so high up. I'm still impressed with the amount of snow left up there for this time of year.

@@theyosemiteguyd The snow tends to insulate itself plus those huge trees offer some shade. Awesome trail had a hard time locating your track on google maps. Can you pause on the trail sign or show the topo just to give an overview of the area. I understand you may want to keep some of your favorite places private. Thanks for sharing once again. How much of this adventure was barefoot ? Do you ever feel disconnected wearing your flip flops ? For me there is a difference but it may be all in my head.

@archiescottincny Yeah I wanted to get a shot of the trail sign but it was really degraded so it didn't look so good on camera. I need to include that info though. My videos would probably benefit a little as well if I took an extra day to work on them instead of trying to rush editing them same day. And I didn't do any barefoot yesterday. It had been a few years since I did that trail and I remembered it having a rougher terrain than it did. It's definitely different but I've enjoyed my flip flop hiking for many years. But barefoot hiking definitely helps me get into my walking meditation state where all my worries are gone.

Not sure flip flops would be my go to shoe source....hehehe. I spent and few nights on this trail and actually climbed the summit there at Upper Jack Ass back in 2013. There's much more blow downs and I don't remember the ferns at the beginning of the trail, and the trail was much easier to follow. The Milky Way at night up there camped out on a rock outcropping was spectacular! I saw a lot of Marmots up there and chipmunks. I had a little problem with altitude at the summit though. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories for me!

Thanks for watching!! Yes, so many amazing spots up Bessie. Norris creek trailhead just past jackass is one of my favs. It’s amazing how much the landscape has changed with all the fires though. Cheers 😄

That looked like some serious snow at the lakes. Were the mosquitos a problem? You got some beautiful clouds. Were there any thunderstorms? Thanks for sharing another beautiful hike!

So much snow left for the second half of July when i went up there. Mosquitos weren't bad at all this year though. I have been at jackass lakes when they were absolutely miserable. Just missed the thunderstorms on this one but early summer we had a lot of thunderstorm activity. Thanks for watching!!! Gonna film another video on Thursday in the high country. Should be posted by Saturday. It's gonna be a cold one but it should be beautiful. :)
