What a great competition! All the skaters did such a wonderful job! I take pride in seeing all of their efforts pay off (and I’m not the coach, just one of the moms!! 😊) You have such a kind group of skaters- they always support one another!
Congrats on them for winning!!! I can tell it’s my old home rink immediately - I started skating there as a teen. It was a good rink, and I really missed it now that I m starting skating again. Hope you & your students had fun in SF!
I really loved how you do the warm-ups. I thought it was interesting that you donit with skates on, but if youbare by the ice ready to go in, it makes sense. Also, you adult skater with purple dress, I loved her dress. Congratulations to them.
I love that dress! Yeah, I always want my skaters to stretch and warm up before they put their skates on, but then they often will get cold or nervous and stiff over the period of getting their skates on and checking in with the ice monitor. With this routine I ensure that they are still ready to go by the time they get on the ice.
@Coach Julia I need to do that. I guess adult skaters get even more nervous. It feels like everything goes dark and light up again once the music is over, hahaha.
My other coach has been mentioning comps lately. Like, how I shouldn’t have to worry about my non-existent spins and that we’ll figure out a way to fudge through. 😂 Also some pep talk about never giving up in the middle of a program, even during practice. She wants me to go all the way through the music even if I crash or take a misstep. After my very first attempt with the music on (where I crashed during every single jump), I was about to lose my breath and said that maybe I shouldn’t be doing this and this whole skating thing shouldn’t have happened in the first place. That’s when she said that I’ve already come too far and am at a point beyond turning back. So maybe I just shut up and get back on the ice. We don’t have a specific date yet, but it seems that she is being more serious than myself. But yeah, pretending that I got my program nailed down (including spins), getting loose quickly is one of my big concerns. One reason I check in 2-3 hours before lessons is because that’s how much it takes for me to get loose and warmed up. But you don’t get that much time on comp days. Hopefully your tips will help in this regard.
Thank you for this video. Could we also do this generally before going on the ice? And could you post some "summer training" videos? (You already have some balance and jump ones which i love. Maybe some strength or strength&conditioning etc videos would be great). Since all the rinks in my area have now closed for this year im kinda stuck with off ice training, but cant find that many workouts or tips&tricks online so that would be great.
Thanks for the advice. What happens in the potentially long wait between finishing the warm up and being the last skater on the ice out of my group? Do I repeat this routine several times or rest?

Thank you Coach Julia! 3 weeks down counting for competition and I'm super stressed. This definitely helps.

This is definitely something you could do before skating a session. I will try to make more summer training videos for you this year!
@@CoachJulia yeyy great.
Thank you!
Was it on last Sunday because there was no public skating on sunday.
Yes! There was a competition that day instead.
It’s where I practice!
Btw before on Saturday when I had lessons, I saw the judge platform!
